Massachusetts rep blasts Republicans for ‘weaponizing’ transgender athletes: ‘Politics at its worst’

U.S. Rep. Lori Trahan, D-Mass., ripped her Republican colleagues this week, saying they politicize the controversial issue of transgender athletes competing against girls and women.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association is one of at least three state athletic organizations to say they will continue to allow trans athletes to compete against biological females despite President Donald Trump’s recent executive order barring them from doing so.

This has led to Trump’s Department of Education launching Title IX probes against the Massachusetts, Minnesota and California athletic federations.

“We’re going to say no to those trans kids? You can’t be part of a team, you can’t learn the camaraderie and be part of your community and feel a sense of belonging? It’s just cruel,” Trahan said, via the Boston Globe.

Trahan, who said she has not heard much of an outcry from parents in her state, added that she believes the issue should be up to each individual sports body, not politicians.

“They’re experts. They’re dedicated to their sports and creating fair and responsible rules for participation. Many of them have already implemented changes to ensure fairness and safety,” she said.

“I think that’s where the decisions should be made, but it doesn’t stop my Republican colleagues from weaponizing this issue, and it has a lot of consequence as a result.”

The NCAA, despite President Charlie Baker saying in December he knew of fewer than 10 transgender athletes in the association, recently followed Trump’s order and barred transgender athletes from competing against females.

“You can’t ignore the [NCAA’s] data,” Trahan said, “but it doesn’t stop them. They think it’s a political winner for them. Whether they believe it or not, it doesn’t even matter. They have set such a dangerous narrative in our country around denying the existence of trans people.

“There are a lot of creeps out there, so now someone gets to accuse a girl who doesn’t look feminine enough or doesn’t have pigtails in her hair?” Trahan added. “How does she have to prove [her gender]? It’s poor policymaking. It’s politics at its worst.”

  • Egg farmers facing the ‘worst bird flu outbreak’ in ‘history,’ industry leader fears

Egg farmers facing the ‘worst bird flu outbreak’ in ‘history,’ industry leader fears

American farmers and those in the agricultural business continue to reel over the spread of H5N1 bird flu, which apparently shows no sign of slowing to “disaster” status.

“The real crisis is that we’re going through the worst bird flu outbreak that we’ve had in the last 10 years since 2015, potentially the worst bird flu outbreak that we’ve ever had in the history of this country,” Eggs Unlimited Vice President Brian Moscogiuri said on “Fox & Friends” Thursday.

“We’ve lost 120 million birds since the beginning of 2022. In the last few months alone, since the middle of October, we’ve lost 45 million egg-laying hens,” he added. “We’ve lost a significant amount of production, more than 13%. So we’re just dealing with supply shortages. And it’s just a disaster right now because this virus is in three of the top egg-laying states in the country. It doesn’t seem like it’s stopping anytime soon.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), bird flu detections have been made in dairy cattle, wild birds, poultry flocks and other mammals, while 68 human cases have been confirmed as well as one death.

EGG PRICES AREN’T COMING DOWN ANYTIME SOON, EXPERTS SAY

Companies recently started imposing limits on egg sales as the shortage caused by outbreaks persists, causing a frenzy among shoppers. Droves of viral videos have surfaced in recent weeks, showing shoppers stockpiling eggs. One video posted on TikTok claimed that an entire section of eggs at a Costco was gone in less than 10 minutes.

Other grocery and restaurant chains like Trader Joe’s, Korger, Whole Foods and Waffle House have been limiting customer purchases or adding egg surcharges as the nationwide supply dwindles.

“We’re just trying to figure out, and the farmers are trying to figure out, how the virus is getting in… there’s several different catalysts, including wild migratory birds that have been flying over the country in the fall, in the spring each year… And we’re also wondering, is it in the ground? Is it in the air on these farms? Some of these farms that have been able to clean out and are working on repopulating have actually been hit again,” Moscogiuri said.

“The farms really need help in identifying where the virus is coming in from, and then,” he expanded, “solutions to stopping the virus so that they can repopulate, resupply and ultimately help to bring the egg prices back down.”

Since January, average egg prices have risen 15% and are up 53% year-over-year, data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Labor Statistics shows.

Eggs Unlimited is one of the largest international suppliers of eggs, servicing major retailers, distributors and food service companies while also serving as a sort of egg “broker,” according to Moscogiuri.

Business is understandably “difficult” right now, he said.

“There’s less eggs available. Right now, we’re really focused on making sure that our customers are getting the orders and their supply, and making sure that they have eggs on their shelves. For consumers, [we’re] trying to limit their impact with the pricing and the supply chain shortages that we’re currently seeing right now.”

Illegal immigrant arrests skyrocket under Trump ICE compared to Biden levels last year: ‘Worst of the worst’

EXCLUSIVE: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests of illegal immigrants have soared under the Trump administration compared to the same period last year under the Biden administration, with some metrics doubling or even tripling.

According to Department of Homeland Security data, obtained by Fox News Digital, there were 11,791 interior ICE arrests from Jan 20 to Feb 8., compared to 4,969 during the same period in 2024. That’s a 137% increase.

Arrests of aliens with criminal histories have soared by nearly 100% from 4,526 in the same period in 2024 to 8,993 under Trump this year.

Arrests of fugitive aliens at-large, meanwhile, have gone up from 2,164 to 5,538 — a 156% increase. Arrests of criminal aliens in local jails have gone up 59%.

TRUMP’S ICE LIMITS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT RELEASES AMID MOVES TO SHAKE OFF BIDEN ‘HANGOVER’

ICE and DEA migrant raids NYC (Drug Enforcement Administration New York)

Arrests of suspected gang members, including those belonging to the bloodthirsty Tren de Aragua, went from 210 in that period in 2024 to 430 under Trump, a 105% increase.

The data is the latest sign that the Trump administration’s flat-out push to ramp up arrests and deportations of illegal immigrants, including by loosening the cuffs on ICE agents imposed by the prior administration, is having a significant impact.

The administration has said it is trying to target the “worst of the worst,” focusing on criminal illegal immigrants and gang members, but has also stressed that it is not ruling anyone out of contention.

ICE has been conducting operations throughout the country, including “sanctuary” cities that do not cooperate with federal enforcement. Fox reported last week that the administration is using federal prisons to house illegal immigrants as it looks to provide additional bedspace.

Those moves came after a slew of moves in the first days of the administration. President Donald Trump signed orders declaring a national emergency at the border, restarting border wall construction and terminating Biden-era parole policies. The Department of Homeland Security has since removed limits on “sensitive places” placed upon agents by the Biden administration, and has ended Temporary Protected Status for some Venezuelan nationals.

“We have thousands of beds in detention facilities that are open today,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said on “Fox News Sunday. “We’ll continue to do ops in the different communities to get these dangerous criminals off of our streets and to get them home.”

Other numbers have suggested policies are having an impact on the border as well. Fox News reported this week that the daily average number of known gotaways — illegal migrants who successfully entered the U.S. without apprehension — at the southern border since the beginning of February has plummeted to just 132 per day, down 93% from the highest numbers when former President Joe Biden was in office.

    Creep Much!

A few years ago, I was speaking to this guy, we had a lot in common, so we hit it off immediately. We went out on this date, and a few drinks later, he started getting touchy and wanted to kiss. I kept saying no. So, he kept ordering more food and alcohol, hoping I would agree to kiss and eventually sleep with him. We ended up being out for at least 4-5 hours, visiting different bars and trying to get away with him while he was hoping I would change my mind. Towards the end he realised that I am not interested in any form of physical intimacy, he flipped and began to gaslight me, further saying “my hookup lives next door,” to which I responded, “That’s great, You must absolutely go see her right now. If you want, I will drop you to hers on my way out.” We walked our separate ways and he was abusing and saying bad things about me because he couldn’t take the ‘no.’ It was almost 2 in the morning, and he didn’t even check if I got home safe, let alone drop me home. It was really a horrible experience.

    All’s Well That Ends Well?

On a Valentine’s Day date, I had a terrible fight with my then-girlfriend. We were at the Juhu beach, walking and constantly arguing. She gifted me a watch that day. After our fight, I threw that watch on the beach. I guess it must still be somewhere there. But it ended well for both of us. She is my wife now, and we laugh about that night at times.

    No Means No!

I went on a date with this guy who showed massive interest in me. We spoke for weeks before agreeing to meet. He asked me out on a date, and we met at a restaurant closer to his home. Everything went fine before he started to talk more. He began the conversation of physical intimacy and how he believes sex brings two people closer. I agreed to it. But little did I know that he would eventually force me to have sex with him that night. I denied it, and he kept pestering me about it. He even attempted to kiss me forcefully, and I pushed him away. He couldn’t take no for an answer, and soon, he flipped. He transitioned to this side of himself, which he was effortlessly hiding and began to curse. Labelled me a psycho and further said that “no man will ever be happy with me.” I refused to give that even a little attention and left the pervert’s sight immediately. I had never met someone so sick before him, let alone going out on a date, and I hope I never do again.

    Date With Coupons?

This guy (let’s call him Mr M) that I met at an official event asked for my number. I was single and, without giving any thought, readily gave it to him. He seemed to have a good personality, was above average looking, and was well dressed, so I thought, let’s give it a shot. The chatting began almost right away. After a few days of talking, he asked if we could meet up somewhere for coffee. I agreed, and he came to pick me up after work in the evening. Once in the car, he insisted we go to this particular cafe. I wasn’t very keen on going. But he kept on insisting so much that eventually, I gave in. I even asked him if there was anything special about this cafe, but he didn’t give a clear answer. I thought it might be one of his favourites in town. We reached the cafe, we sat down, and the next thing he insisted on me was to order “one regular cappuccino and medium fries”. I was surprised as to why he was so particular about it, and mind you; he didn’t even let me look at the menu until then. The waiter came to take our order, and before I could say anything, he took out 4 to 5 what looked like coupons from his pocket and placed them on the table. He turned towards the waiter and told him that he had collected these coupons over his last few visits and had some offers on certain combo meals (hence the regular cappuccino and medium fries). If that wasn’t enough, he enquired about each of the coupons and the food items he could redeem in exchange for it. I was dumbfounded, and I cursed myself for being there beside him. I drank the coffee somehow and asked him to get the cheque. I lied about having a family emergency that I needed to tend to. He asked for the cheque, and thanks to all his coupons, the bill was just INR 200 or something, which he paid. And while we were departing the cafe, he told me you have my number, right? You can send your share of the bill to that number. I was shocked, but I knew I could not expect anything less from him by then. The way I ran after that “date” or whatever it was, and I never looked back. It was truly horrifying.

    Catfished!

The person I went on a date with was unrecognisable. He kept a different guy’s photo, added too many filters, and the image was altered in a way that it was difficult to make a difference. But I figured that he was not the one that he posted on his display photo. I still went ahead with the date because I didn’t want to pass on a judgment that easily. While on the date, he started making small talk and then commented on how I dressed, saying that the outfit didn’t go well with my skin colour. “You should have toned it down a little,” is what he said. If this was not enough, when the bill came, he made an excuse that he forgot his wallet and doesn’t have access to digital payment. So, I took care of it, left and blocked his phone number immediately. I should have taken a U-turn, the moment I realised I got catfished.

    Ouch!

She was an ex-colleague of mine. I took her out on a date at Pizza Express. After a while, without my knowledge, she invited her friends over on our ‘date.’ They were around 10-15 people. They ordered the food, ate and made me pay the entire bill. It was the start of my career, and going to a restaurant and paying the food bill for so many people did cut a big hole in my pocket. She should have at least given me a heads-up.

Good Ol’ ‘Orkut’ Date Gone Wrong

Back in college, when I was in my second year, I got a request on Orkut from a girl, and we started talking. After a few days, she asked me to take her out on a date. I booked a fancy place with whatever little money I had. The date went well, but after she left the restaurant, three to four guys came and began to abuse and threaten me. When I asked them who they were, one of them told me that he was her boyfriend and showed their pictures. I somehow managed to run away on my bike. When I messaged and told her about the incident, she accepted that he was indeed her boyfriend.

    Classic Phone Call Prank

I got a phone call from an unknown number. He thought that I was a girl and kept calling me. So, I pulled a prank on him and pretended to be a girl. He was from a different city and, perhaps, got really attracted to my pretentious voice. He drove for a couple of hours to meet me, hoping I was the girl. I called him to a spot. When he reached there, a couple of my friends confronted him, saying we had pranked him on the call and ran away. It was indeed a bad date for him!

The pain and awkward misery of others can certainly be relatable for everyone. Doesn’t it? It’s never fun, but it’s also important to remember that it is through this process and by taking chances that you find the special one that is sheer magic. In all seriousness, all those things about Cupid and sweet nothings are nice, but February 14 is about a lot more than heart-shaped gifts, roses and romance. It’s about loving the one you are with. And if that person is you, it’s definitely worth celebrating.

Eagles’ Vic Fangio recalls fearing the worst during Super Bowl blackout in 2013

Vic Fangio was the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator when the team played the Baltimore Ravens at the Superdome in Super Bowl XLVII.

The Ravens topped the 49ers for the team’s second Super Bowl title, but the game was marred by a blackout due to a partial power outage that struck the stadium. The Super Bowl was put on pause for 34 minutes. The 49ers went on a 17-0 run to get back into the game. Ultimately, the Ravens held off their opponents for the 34-31 win.

Fangio is now the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles and, more than a decade later, is back at the Superdome to lead the defense against a high-octane Kansas City Chiefs team. He remarked about the Blackout Bowl during Super Bowl LIX’s opening night on Monday.

“I thought it was a terrorist attack,” he said.

The Trump administration rolled out a social media thread on Sunday highlighting the “worst criminals” arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since President Donald Trump was sworn-in as the nation’s 47th president last week.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, ICE agents are working tirelessly to protect our communities. From illegal alien child rapists to gang members and individuals with suspected ties to ISIS, here are some of the worst criminals arrested,” the White House X thread reads.

The post shows nine different illegal immigrants who have already been convicted of vicious crimes, such as child rape, or have alleged links to gangs and terrorists organizations and other serious crimes. The nine illegal immigrants highlighted in the thread include their photos, as well as short biographies explaining their crimes.

“MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN: Edgar De La Cruz-Manzo, a convicted child rapist and Mexican national, was arrested by ICE Seattle on January 25, 2025,” one post reads.

TRUMP’S ICE NABS CHILD SEX OFFENDERS AMONG 530+ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CAUGHT IN SINGLE DAY

Trump’s 2024 campaign prominently focused on the immigration crisis under the Biden administration, vowing to deport illegal immigrants, including those with long rap sheets in other nations, cartel members and others with alleged ties to terrorism.

Less than a week back in the Oval Office, Trump touted that he is keeping his campaign promises with a series of directives and policies to secure the border.

BORDER ENCOUNTERS DROP SHARPLY AS TRUMP LAUNCHES CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

“Within hours of taking the oath of office, I declared a national emergency at our southern border. I sent active duty troops on the border to help repel the invasion. Tom Homan is leading the charge. You know that. We like Tom Homan. Doing a great job. We immediately halted all illegal entry and began sending every border trespasser and violator back to the places from which they came. I signed an order that will designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. It’s a big deal, it’s a big deal. Biden didn’t want to do that,” he said from Las Vegas during a rally on Saturday. “Biden didn’t know he was alive. He didn’t want to do it.”

A senior GOP strategist who spoke to Fox Digital about efforts to secure the border and remove dangerous illegal immigrants, remarked that the Biden administration could have done the same, but “did nothing about it.”

“The most absurd part of all of this is that it’s clear the Biden administration knew EXACTLY where these pedophiles, murderers, and rapists were and did nothing about it,” the strategist said. “President Trump was given a mandate to execute his America First agenda and that starts with restoring the rule of law, securing our borders, and punishing known criminals.”

Other illegal immigrants arrested by ICE include a convicted sex offender from Ethiopia who was arrested in New Orleans on Friday; a Brazilian national convicted of vehicular manslaughter who was arrested by ICE Boston; and a Honduran national arrested by ICE Seattle who was found with cocaine, fentanyl, and a gun.

Law enforcement agencies stretching from ICE, to the DEA and U.S. Marshals, have been on an arresting blitz since Trump’s first day in office on Jan. 20. The Trump administration deputized thousands of federal agents on Thursday evening to aid agencies such as ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in efforts to arrest illegal immigrants.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt reported that on Thursday alone, law enforcement nationwide arrested more than 500 illegal immigrants, and deported hundreds of others.
