A.J. Brown says winning Super Bowl ‘wasn’t what I thought it would be;’ love for game ‘comes when I dominate’

Winning a Super Bowl is overrated, according to A.J. Brown.

The Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver earned his first Lombardi Trophy Sunday, scoring a touchdown in the Birds’ dominant 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

But it seems like Brown is already past the title.

In an Instagram post, Brown said his time taking in the Lombardi Trophy win is already over, and he doesn’t exactly seem to be on top of the world.

“After a few days, I’ve had time to reflect on being a champion. I tried to feel how everyone made it seem to be a champion and unfortunately it was short lived.. two days to be exact lol,” Brown’s caption, attached to a photo of his touchdown from the game, said.

“I’ve never been a champion at the highest level before but I thought my hard work would be justified by winning it all. It wasn’t. My thrill for this game comes when i dominate,” he added. “It’s the Hunt that does it for me. It’s when the Db drops his head and surrender because he can’t F with me . The Intense battles. Early mornings. Late nights. Sacrifices. I love putting smiles on peoples faces, don’t get me wrong but it just wasn’t what I thought it would be.”

That portion of the caption raised some eyebrows, but his words seemed to be those of a true competitor.

“It’s the journey that I love the most. BACK 2 Work!”

Maybe the on-field party was anticlimactic because the game had been decided so early in the game.

But maybe Brown will think differently when the Birds traverse downtown Philly for their parade Friday.

Eagles’ Saquon Barkley makes clear ‘dream wasn’t just getting’ to Super Bowl LIX

For Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, the dream has yet to be realized.

Barkley appeared at the Caesars Superdome ahead of Super Bowl LIX on Monday night. He and his teammates met with members of the media for opening night with the game against the Kansas City Chiefs less than a week away.

The star player told FOX Sports’ Peter Schrager he didn’t envision the fanfare that occurs before the game but “definitely envisions playing in this game.

“That’s why me and my family made the decision to come to Philadelphia, to have an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl. And here we are,” he said.

Barkley joined the Eagles in the offseason after the New York Giants allowed him to test the free-agent waters. It proved to be the move of the offseason as he nearly broke Eric Dickerson’s rushing record during the regular season, tallying up 2,005 yards on 345 carries. He scored 13 touchdowns on the ground as well.

“It’s simple — it took everyone. For us to do what we wanna do, it’ll take everyone again,” he said.

Barkley said he was just “thankful” to be put in a position to succeed. But he knows the job is far from finished. Getting to the Super Bowl wasn’t the goal — winning it was.

“It’ll be amazing, something I’ve dreamed about since I was a little kid,” he said what he thinks he’ll feel when he talks out of the tunnel at the game. “To actually be here and finally have it come to light will be amazing. But the dream wasn’t just getting there.

  • Boxer Devin Haney rips actor Sylvester Stallone over Rocky films: ‘Movies wasn’t real’

Boxer Devin Haney rips actor Sylvester Stallone over Rocky films: ‘Movies wasn’t real’

American boxer Devin Haney took aim at Sylvester Stallone over the actor’s recent commentary on the current state of boxing.

Stallone, a three-time Academy Award nominee, received critical acclaim for his portrayal of renowned Philadelphia boxer Rocky Balboa in the iconic film franchise.

A video recently surfaced on social media showing Stallone holding the gloves he wore in the mid 1970s during the filming of the original sports drama movie. At one point during the video, Stallone suggested the gloves were identical to what professional boxers used in the 70s.

“They don’t even allow these today because they’re so dangerous. But that’s what they used when I did the film. They’re barely six-ounces, they’re Reyes and they’re literally lethal. I still have them because it’s a time when things people were tougher. I’m sorry, they were. Life is just getting a little easier and easier and easier… I cherish hard work, even though I hate it.”

Haney disagreed with Stallone’s assertion and shared his rebuttal via X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Dude don’t know a left hook from a fish hook, and got the nerve to speak on times being easier in boxing like he wasn’t just an actor… Buddy them Rocky movies weren’t real,” Haney wrote.

Last April’s upset defeat to Ryan Garcia marked Haney’s most recent appearance in a professional bout.

Haney, who is also known as “The Dream” eventually pursued legal recourse against Garcia after learning Garcia failed multiple drug tests ahead of the bout.

Officials later overturned Garcia’s victory and ruled the fight a no-contest.
