Punjab Police’s Valentine’s Week campaign on fake news attracts audiences in North America, Australia and NZ | Chandigarh News

You can take a Punjabi out of Punjab but you cannot make him forget the Punjab Police. This could be why the Punjab Police anti-fake news drive during Valentine’s Week attracted large audiences from the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The campaign aimed to educate people on the dangers of misinformation and the importance of verifying news before sharing it online.

The Punjab Police have lately focused on cyber campaigns to enhance the reach of public safety messages and have a dedicated team that prepares internet campaigns.

A viewer engagement and demographic analysis done by the Punjab Police on their online campaign showed that very heavy traffic was generated from overseas.

“With widespread visibility and participation on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram, and WhatsApp, the initiative sparked important conversations on responsible digital behaviour. The campaign went viral across WhatsApp groups, amplifying the message to think before forwarding unverified information,” said a senior officer involved in the campaign.

The data underscores a strong connection with younger demographics across Punjab and key diaspora communities, validating the campaign’s strategic impact, he added.

Police officers said a high viewership was also recorded across Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Urban centres like Chandigarh and Ludhiana led in interactions.

“A growing interest was noted in the Middle East and the United States, presenting expansion opportunities. The audience comprised 65 per cent males and 35 per cent females, indicating a need for more gender-balanced content. The highest viewership in Punjab was observed in Ludhiana, Patiala, Mohali, Jalandhar, and Amritsar. There was a strong resonance with individuals aged 18-35, emphasizing the importance of youth-centric messaging,” an officer said.

The Punjab Police have lately cultivated an increased social media presence to strengthen community relations and enhance public safety. Their platforms serve as channels for real-time updates, public advisories, and community outreach.

“The aim of the newly focussed digital strategy is to support swift communication during emergencies but also promote proactive engagement with citizens, contributing to a more informed and resilient community,” a senior officer said.

According to senior officials, the week-long initiative generated 11-12 million impressions, reinforcing the importance of media literacy and responsible social media use.

“The Punjab Police will continue leveraging digital platforms to combat fake news, promote cyber awareness, and strengthen public trust. Citizens are encouraged to engage with official sources, think critically before sharing information, and report any misleading content to authorities. To report fake news or seek assistance, dial 112,” said an officer involved in cyber strategy.

  • White House’s Valentine’s Day message sends chill down migrants’ spine: ‘Come here illegally and we’ll…’

White House’s Valentine’s Day message sends chill down migrants’ spine: ‘Come here illegally and we’ll…’

In a rather distasteful joke amid US President Donald Trump’s deportation spree, the White House on Valentine’s Day shared a “pink card” meme on its official X handle, warning the illegal immigrants.

In US immigration, a “pink card” informally refers to documents given to non-citizens in deportation proceedings, including Notices to Appear (NTA) or Orders of Supervision with reporting requirements.

Trolling the already dreadful migrants in the United States, Trump’s White House posted a picture with a pink background adorned with hearts. It also featured stern-faced pictures of President Donald Trump and his border chief, Thomas Homan.

The picture read: “Roses are red, violets are blue. Come here illegally, and we’ll deport you.”

The post was accompanied by a “Happy Valentine’s Day” caption along with a red heart emoji.

The White House has said over 8,000 immigrants who were in the country illegally have been arrested since Trump’s inauguration on January 20.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) averaged 787 arrests a day from January 23 to January 31, compared with a daily average of 311 during a 12-month period that ended September 30 during the Joe Biden administration.

ICE has stopped publishing daily arrest totals.

    Indian deportees:

A plane carrying 119 illegal Indian immigrants from the US will land at the Amritsar airport on Saturday. It is the second such batch of Indians to be deported by the Donald Trump administration as part of its promised crackdown on illegal migration.

On February 5, 104 illegal Indian deportees landed at the Amritsar airport.

The second batch of illegal Indian immigrants includes four women and two minors, including a six-year-old girl. Most of the deportees are in the age group of 18 to 30, PTI reported, citing sources.

According to a PTI report, a third plane carrying 157 deportees is also expected to land on February 16.

  • Barack Obama’s Valentine’s Day post shuts divorce theories—here’s what he wrote | World News

Barack Obama’s Valentine’s Day post shuts divorce theories—here’s what he wrote | World News

Former US President Barack Obama on Friday – Valentine’s Day, reaffirmed his love for Michelle Obama, his wife of over three decades with a heartfelt message and a selfie, putting a full stop on the rumors about trouble in his marriage.

In a post on X, the 63-year-old ex-president wrote, “Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away. Happy Valentine’s Day, @MichelleObama.”

Michelle responded with equal affection, calling him her “rock” and adding, “Always have been. Always will be. Happy Valentine’s Day, honey!” accompanied by a heart emoji.

The couple’s public display of love quickly gained traction online, with Obama’s post garnering over 37 million views. Netizens flooded the comments with praise, celebrating the Obamas’ enduring bond and dismissing the affair rumors as baseless speculation.

The speculation surrounding Barack and Michelle’s marriage gained momentum after Michelle, 61, was absent from former US President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and then President Donald Trump’s inauguration last month.

Rumors intensified when Barack Obama was spotted dining alone at an Italian restaurant in Washington, DC, ahead of his trip.

Despite the gossip, Obama had shared a heartfelt birthday message for Michelle on January 17, calling her “the love of my life” and praising her warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace. Michelle responded with a brief but affectionate reply, writing, “Love you, honey!” followed by a heart and kissing-face emoji.

Multiple reports suggest that Michelle Obama primarily stays at the Martha’s Vineyard estate, while Barack Obama resides in Washington, DC’s Kalorama neighborhood. Speculation about tensions in their relationship has surfaced, including unverified claims linking the former president to actress Jennifer Aniston, though no concrete evidence supports these rumors.

Politicians trade roses and thorns this Valentine’s Day

Political power couples celebrated their love on social media this Valentine’s Day — but not without a few jabs from opposing political parties.

Several political organizations took to X to post Valentine’s Day messages trolling their rivals, including a meme from the White House with a message to illegal immigrants.

“Violets are blue, come here illegally, and we’ll deport you,” the official Trump White House X account posted.

Some X users embraced the deportation meme, while others found it insensitive. The top reply on the White House’s post says: “ROSES ARE RED VIOLETS ARE BLUE YOUR ANCESTORS WERE IMMIGRANTS AND SO ARE YOU LET’S EMBRACE OTHERS AND THEIR DREAMS TOO.”

Chris LaCivita, a GOP political strategist and a former advisor to President Donald Trump, posted a photo of Trump with a bandage on his ear from the July 2024 assassination attempt captioned, “I’d take a bullet for you.”

A Valentine from the Republican National Committee to the Democratic National Committee said: “Roses are red, violets are blue; We won seven Swing States, what did you do?”

Democrats had some fun with their Valentine’s Day message, too, poking fun at the power dynamics at play between Elon Musk and Trump.

“The left can’t meme,” multiple users replied to the Democrats’ post on X. Another X user replied with a photo of Trump and former first lady Jill Biden speaking at the reopening of the Notre Dame captioned: “Will you be my Valentine?”

Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama celebrated 32 years of marriage with matching selfies across their social media accounts amid divorce rumors.

“If there’s one person I can always count on, it’s you, @BarackObama. You’re my rock. Always have been. Always will be. Happy Valentine’s Day, honey!” Michelle said.

Former President Joe Biden joined the love fest with a photo of his wife Jill sporting a “LOVE” jacket captioned, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Jilly!”

“Thanking the love of my life Dina for her incredible support and love during the craziest year of our lives! Happy Valentine’s Day!” Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa., said to his wife Dina, who served as deputy national security advisor during President Donald Trump’s first term.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, posted a charming photo with his valentine of 70 years.

Meanwhile, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., wished his wife Mindy a happy first Valentine’s Day as a married couple. The 59-year-old was a longtime bachelor before announcing his engagement to a “lovely Christian girl” in January 2024. The couple got married in August at the Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom thanked his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, for championing the rights of Californians.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Jen. I’m lucky to call my best friend the love of my life. Thank you for all that you do to champion the rights of Californians. I love you,” Newsom said in a post.

White House shares Valentine’s Day message but it has a Trump’s twist | World News

Donald Trump’s White House decided to skip the chocolates and love notes this Valentine’s Day, opting instead for a not-so-sweet message aimed at migrants.

In a post that could only be described as dystopian poetry, the official White House Instagram shared a Valentine’s Day rhyme alongside a picture of Trump and his border czar: “Roses are red, violets are blue, come here illegally and we’ll deport you.”

The White House shared the post with a simple “Happy Valentine’s Day” and an heart emoji, just as Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers wrapped up weeks of mass arrests.

More than 8,000 undocumented immigrants have been detained since his second term began on January 20, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Some have already been deported, while others are being held in federal prisons or sent to Guantanamo Bay.

But not everyone is on board. Resistance is coming from 13 sanctuary states—including California, New York, and Illinois—as well as 220 cities and counties that refuse to comply with Trump’s immigration policies.

His new border czar, Tom Homan, isn’t thrilled, warning that sanctuary policies are making enforcement “more difficult and more dangerous,” and suggesting more people will be caught in the crossfire “if they want to play that game.”

Well, nothing says romance quite like a deportation threat wrapped in a nursery rhyme.

Amid rumours of separation, Barack and Michelle Obama post Valentine’s Day selfie: ‘Thirty-two years together…’

Putting an end to speculation of their divorce, former US President Barack Obama on Friday posted a Valentine’s Day selfie with wife Michelle.

Taking to X, Barack wrote, “Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away. Happy Valentine’s Day, Michelle Obama!”

Obama’s post arrived amid rumours the couple is heading for divorce after being married for 32 years.

Though it is unknown when the image was taken, the former First Lady shared the same selfie on her own X account.

Responding back to Barack’s post, Michelle wrote, “”If there’s one person I can always count on, it’s you, Barack Obama. You’re my rock. Always have been. Always will be. Happy Valentine’s Day, honey!”

The Obama couple was last spotted together in December when they stepped out for dinner in Los Angeles, stated reports.

In January too, Barack Obama had also posted on the occasion of Michelle’s birthday.

“Happy birthday to the love of my life, Michelle Obama. You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace – and you look good doing it. I’m so lucky to be able to take on life’s adventures with you. Love you!” he wrote.

According to details, the rumours about divorce between Barack and Michelle fueled after the former president attended Jimmy Carter’s state funeral and Donald Trump’s second inauguration without Michelle.

But Obama post an image on X with his wife, saying, “President Carter taught all of us what it means to live a life of grace, dignity, justice, and service. Michelle and I send our thoughts and prayers to the Carter family, and everyone who loved and learned from this remarkable man.”

There were also rumours that the former US president was dating actress Jennifer Aniston. Though in October 2024, Jennifer publicly denied the rumours, calling them “absolutely untrue”, claimed by a US gossip magazine.

  • On Valentine’s Day, Kate Middleton and Prince William share a rare PDA moment on Instagram

On Valentine’s Day, Kate Middleton and Prince William share a rare PDA moment on Instagram

Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated Valentine’s Day by posting a picture of them sharing a romantic moment on social media.

The picture shared on Instagram was captioned with a single red heart emoji. In September 2024, the royal couple shared this picture while announcing that Kate, 43, has completed her chemotherapy.

In the picture shared, the couple can be seen holding hands near the woods while sitting on a brown blanket.

In August, Will Warr shot a three-minute video in Norfolk showing Kate and William with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, residing in their country home, Anmer Hall.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been more vocal with public displays of affection on social media since last year. Kate wished William on his birthday in June 2024. In a social media post, Kate wrote, “We all love you so much!”

On January 9, William posted a birthday message for Kate on her 43rd birthday.

“To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you… We love you,” he stated.

“William must feel so fortunate that Kate has come through this that he wants to tell the world about that love. It shows the intimacy of them sharing that journey together,” royal biographer Ingrid Seward told PEOPLE. “They are able to express themselves in a way they would never have done before,” he added.

However, Kate and William have refrained from showing public display of affection till last year.

Myka Meier, royal etiquette expert and founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette, earlier told PEOPLE, “There is no actual etiquette or royal protocol that says the couple must refrain from PDA.” Kate and William did not show public display of affection most likely as they are “working representatives of the British monarchy.”

Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar gifts jet to Jacqueline Fernandez on Valentine’s Day: ‘Baby, you’re always flying around…’

Sukesh Chandrashekhar, the alleged conman presently lodged in Central Mandoli Jail in Delhi, has gifted a private jet to his rumoured former girlfriend, Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, on Valentine’s Day, reported News18.

He also sent a letter to Jacqueline Fernandez, mentioning that the private jet has the initials of her name written on it and its registration number is her date of birth, the report said.

“Baby, you are always flying around the world for work shoots, now with this Jet, your travel will be extremely easy at your choice, and convenience,” Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s letter read.

In his letter, the alleged conman also said that he is paying taxes on the gifts and therefore no one can call them illegal.

“The most important thing, no one can now question you about the Jet, because Baby I am Declaring the Jet in my Tax Returns for this year and paying the relevant gift taxes for the same, hereby making it fully legal and not any alleged proceeds of crime,” a part of Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s letter said.

He further expressed his love for the actress by saying: “Baby on this Valentines, I have only one wish, if there is a Re-Birth, I wanna be born as your heart, so that I can keep beating inside you.”

Why is Sukesh Chandrashekhar in jail?

Sukesh Chandrashekhar is presently lodged in Mandoli jail in connection to an extortion case of 200 crore.

It was rumoured that Sukesh Chandrashekhar and Jacqueline were in a relationship. However, she had repeatedly denied any kind of romantic relationship with him.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar is in jail since 2017 due to his involvement in several criminal cases. He was transferred from the Central Jail to Central Jail No.13, Mandoli, on November 4, 2023.

He is involved in a total of 23 cases.

On Thursday, the Delhi High Court issued notice on a plea filed by the Mandoli Jail’s Authority challenging a trial court’s decision that allowed Sukesh Chandrashekhar to wear a wristwatch while in custody.

Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had recorded Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s statement in connection with an alleged extortion racket operating from Delhi prisons.
