Conservatives rally around ‘rock star’ Leavitt after first White House briefing: ‘Competence is back’

Conservatives on social media praised newly minted White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s performance in her first press conference on Tuesday and made the case that her tenure would be a welcome change from the previous administration’s.

Leavitt stepped to the White House pressroom podium on Tuesday and answered questions from more than a dozen reporters with various political affiliations and spoke for almost an hour on Tuesday.

As Leavitt addressed the media, conservatives on social media reacted with positive reviews of her handling of the questions and the variety of reporters she called on.

“Karoline Leavitt is a rock star,” actor James Woods posted on X. “These next four years are going to be sublime.”

“Well @karolineleavitt is certainly up for the job,” Fox News contributor Joey Jones posted on X. “Impressive, but not surprising.”

“Both KJP and Jen Psaki were extremely dependent on their oversized binders jam-packed with scripted talking points,” talk show host Addison Smith posted on X. “Today, @karolineleavitt took to the podium for the first time with a couple sheets of paper that she barely even glanced at. Competence is back.”

“This Press Secretary – Karoline Leavitt – is so refreshingly clear in the positions she articulates,” Rush Limbaugh’s longtime friend and producer, James Golden, posted on X. “No dancing around facts, no avoidance of questions, in contrast to the previous Press Secretary.”

“Karoline Leavitt is 30 minutes into a Press Briefing and she hasn’t looked up a single answer yet,” Fox News contributor and comedian Jimmy Faila posted on X. “KJP would have gone through three binders and a Magic 8 Ball by now. THIS is why people wanna ditch DEI for Meritocracy.”

“How refreshing to have a Press Sec at the podium who can answer questions directly and without reading word for word from a script,” Coign Vice President Cassie Smedile Docksey posted on X. “We are so back.”

Leavitt, 27, is the youngest press secretary in the nation’s history, surpassing President Richard Nixon’s press secretary, Ron Ziegler, who was 29 when he took the same position in 1969. Leavitt was a fierce defender of Trump throughout his campaign against former Vice President Kamala Harris and also made her own political mark with a congressional run in 2022.

Leavitt served in Trump’s first administration as assistant press secretary before working as New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik’s communications director after the 2020 election. She launched a congressional campaign in her home state of New Hampshire during the 2022 cycle, winning her primary but losing the election to a Democrat.

Leavitt picked up the torch of press secretary from the Biden administration’s chief spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre.

Ex-NFL star Julian Edelman makes bold Tom Brady Super Bowl LIX prediction

Former New England Patriots star Julian Edelman will be covering the Super Bowl as an analyst for FOX Sports when Super Bowl LIX takes place on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.

Edelman will also get to work alongside, in some capacity, with his former teammate Tom Brady, as the legendary quarterback will be on the call with Kevin Burkhardt when the Kansas City Chiefs look to make history against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The game will put the finishing touches on Brady’s first full season as a broadcaster. He will get to put everything he has learned over the course of the season into a finished product with millions of viewers set to tune in to the FOX broadcast and the Tubi livestream of the game.

Edelman appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” and had high expectations for the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

“I guarantee he’s probably going to be very fired up,” Edelman said. “He’s probably going to be imagining himself in those situations.

“I think it’s going to be a great performance by him because he’s gonna get to show us inside looks to things only he knows Patrick Mahomes is going through.”

Brady has reportedly been barred from meeting with teams ahead of the game, which is usually reserved for broadcasters to gather knowledge to help them through their calls, because of his minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.

The former Patriots wide receiver said he believed Brady would be able to persevere without those meetings.

WWE star JD McDonagh hits head in high-risk move during match, reveals extent of injuries

WWE star JD McDonagh revealed he will be out a few months recovering from injuries sustained in a tag-team match on “Monday Night Raw.”

McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio teamed up against the War Raiders, Erick and Ivar, in hopes of capturing the WWE World Tag Team Championship.

At one point in the match, McDonagh launched himself off of the middle rope and moonsaulted in an attempt to knockout one of his competitors. McDonagh connected with Ivar, but he hit the back of his head on the announcers’ table.

“McDonagh is lucky he doesn’t have a damn broken neck,” Raw announcer Michael Cole said on the broadcast.

Indeed, McDonagh was lucky he did not break his neck. He did suffer a few other injuries during the match though.

“First off, thanks to everyone for the messages and the concern. I’m good,” he wrote in a post early Tuesday morning.

“I’ve got a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung, so I’m going to be out for a couple months. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse, so I’m grateful for that.

McDonagh had been in the Judgement Day faction with Mysterio, and Finn Balor since he arrived on the main roster and even served as a tag-team champion with Balor at one point.

He performed in WWE NXT UK and WWE NXT for a time before his call-up and was an NXT cruiserweight champion. Pro Wrestling Illustrated named him one of the top 500 singles wrestlers in 2019.

Mother of late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, brother Matthew says sons are ‘happy fans in heaven’ after Eagles win

The Philadelphia Eagles heading to Super Bowl LIX had Jane Gaudreau, the mother of late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, and his brother Matthew, thinking about her two sons on Sunday night.

Hockey may be the Gaudreau family’s top sport, but being from South New Jersey, the Eagles are just as prominent.

Jane shared a picture on her social media accounts of her two sons wearing custom Gaudreau Eagles jerseys after the 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders sent Philadelphia back to the “Big Game.”

“I know two incredibly happy fans in heaven,” Jane wrote on Instagram. “GO BIRDS!!!!!! Going to the Super Bowl for the boys!!! One more win.”

Jane also shared the picture on X, adding “Miss and love you boys!” with two green hearts for the Eagles’ main jersey color.

Before the Eagles’ 2024 regular season began, tragedy struck the Gaudreau family and the entire hockey world as Johnny and Matthew were killed by a drunk driver in Oldmans Township, New Jersey — the day before their sister’s wedding. The Gaudreau brothers were riding bikes when Sean M. Higgins fatally struck them with his vehicle.

Earlier this month, Higgins turned down the prosecution’s offer of 35 years in prison, pleading not guilty to his charges stemming from the incident.

Higgins, 44, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated manslaughter, two counts of vehicular homicide, evidence tampering and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police noted that Higgins had a blood alcohol level of .087, above New Jersey’s legal limit to drive, and he failed a field sobriety test. Police also said Higgins was driving aggressively, which included speeding up to drive around multiple vehicles, when he hit the Gaudreaus.

The Gaudreau family was in the courtroom to witness Higgins’ hearing, and two days after, Jane posted quotes on her Instagram seemingly about what her and her family are going through.

“Sometimes life is hard,” the first quote read. “Some days are very rough, and sometimes you just have to cry before you can move forward…And that’s okay.”

“When you have a bad day – a really bad day – try and treat the world better than it treated you,” the second quote, which is from Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, read.

It’s not yet been determined when Higgins is due next in court, though a trial is upcoming.

Although it may not be hockey, love for the Eagles has the Gaudreau family celebrating, and they know Johnny and Matthew will be looking down on New Orleans on Feb. 9 hoping their Eagles can lift the Lombardi Trophy once again.

Heat suspend Jimmy Butler indefinitely after disgruntled star left shootaround: report

The latest update in the Jimmy Butler-Miami Heat saga isn’t a good one for fans.

Butler has been suspended for a third time by the organization, and this time, it’s indefinite, according to ESPN.

This comes after he was expected to return to the Heat on Monday night ahead of their matchup with the Orlando Magic. And the reason for this suspension revolves around how Miami planned to bring him back.

The Heat were looking to use Butler off the bench moving forward, but he wasn’t fond of that news when discussed at the team’s morning shootaround.

ESPN reported that Butler walked out of the shootaround after learning his team’s plan, which ultimately led the organization to suspend him indefinitely.

This strained relationship has led to Butler missing nine of the last 12 Heat games heading into Monday. The first suspension Butler faced was worth seven games due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Butler would return and play three games, but his second suspension came after missing a team flight for a road trip last Wednesday, resulting in another two games being docked.

While his team was facing the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets on the quick road trip, Butler was spotted at the Reserve Cup padel series in Miami, hanging out with National Baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, comedian Andrew Schulz and more.

Butler is not happy with his role on the Heat, and he has requested a trade from the organization. At first, team president Pat Riley said the organization wouldn’t be taking calls on Butler. However, that mindset has changed in recent weeks.

The NBA trade deadline is coming up soon, though, as Feb. 6 will be the final day any trade can be made for this season across the NBA.

Butler is in the second year of his three-year, $146.4 million deal with the Heat, all of which is guaranteed. He has a player option for next season worth $52.4 million against the Heat’s cap.

Eagles star Saquon Barkley has heartwarming reaction to rookie teammate’s first career TD in NFC Championship

Saquon Barkley found the end zone three times for his Philadelphia Eagles, as they walloped the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship to cement their spot in Super Bowl LIX.

But it was the last touchdown scored for Philadelphia that had Barkley jumping and screaming for joy, and there’s a big reason why.

Will Shipley, the rookie out of Clemson, is the third string running back for the Eagles. With Barkley getting the lion’s share, and veteran Kenneth Gainwell spelling him for snaps throughout the season, Shipley has mainly played special teams while getting some time in blowouts.

Well, a blowout win is what occurred at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, and Shipley was given that moment where he could pad the stats a bit. But what transpired was a career first for the young running back, as he scored his first-ever NFL touchdown.

And cameras on the FOX broadcast caught Barkley’s reaction, which was simply heartwarming.

He went ballistic on the sideline, jumping up and down and screaming as Shipley celebrated on the field. And what was even more impressive than the two-yard score was Shipley’s 57-yard dash down the field that put the Eagles in the red zone once again.

Shipley had just 82 yards on 30 attempts during the regular season, picking up two first downs in the process. He played 58% of special teams snaps and only 6% on offense.

Barkley’s reaction, though, shows just how much of a team player he is, as he was hyped for his running backs room partner to get his time to shine on the playoff stage.

This isn’t anything new for Barkley in his first year with the Eagles either, as he famously told head coach Nick Sirianni to allow the backups to get their time on the field against his former New York Giants despite being just 13 rushing yards away from a career-high.

“It’s all good,” he told Sirianni. “I’m good. I promise. I’d rather see the young boys eat.”

Barkley would later smash that record anyway, ripping off a whopping 255 yards against the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 24, 2024, which was the ninth-highest rushing yardage in a single game in NFL history.

Everybody ate for the Eagles in this divisional demolition, and even though he wasn’t on the field, Barkley was loving every second of his teammates putting in work to cap a conference title that sends them to the “Big Game” in the “Big Easy.”

Conor McGregor on Saturday ripped pro-Hamas and pro-Hezbollah demonstrators who raised the terrorist groups’ flags in a rally that took place in Ireland.

McGregor’s social media post came as Hamas released four female hostages as part of a ceasefire deal with Israel. McGregor appeared to be enraged over the rally.

“To raise the flag of a terrorist organization on Irish soil must become a major crime in the eyes of our state,” he wrote in a post on X. “It will not be tolerated nor lauded!

One of McGregor’s biggest rivals, Khabib Nurmagomedov, praised Ireland on Saturday for being pro-Palestinian. His remarks came as he saw his cousin Usman Nurmagomedov defeat Irishman Paul Hughes for the Bellator’s lightweight championship.

Denver Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain II was named as one of the finalists for AP Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024 season.

Surtain, who wrapped up his fourth season in the NFL, put up his best year yet. He had four interceptions, 45 tackles and 11 pass breakups. He returned the interceptions for 132 yards, which included his 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. It was a league-leading stat.

The young Broncos player caught the attention of fellow Broncos great Champ Bailey even before he came into the league. Bailey, who spoke to Fox News Digital on behalf of Trulieve, said he saw a little bit of himself in Surtain but thinks Surtain is better setup for the pros.

“A little bit. I think he’s far ahead of me as far as his demeanor, his professionalism, his technique,” he said. “When he came into the league, you could tell he was going to be good right away. It was just more, ‘OK, can he sustain his success? Can he stay healthy?’

“Those are the things that are really unknown to an NFL player’s career – the health side of it, which is huge. And he’s been able to do that and play consistently. I always knew if he strapped them up, he’s going to be one of the best no matter what because of how he approaches the game.”

Bailey has high hopes for Surtain’s career.

“He looks like a 10-year vet playing like a guy in his prime,” he said. “The sky’s the limit for him. I told people when he was drafted, he’s on a Hall of Fame path. It’s all about his good health. If he stays healthy, he will be a Hall of Famer and, hopefully, he’ll be Defensive Player of the Year this year. Definitely pulling for that.”

The Defensive Player of the Year nominees list is stacked.

Former NASCAR star Danica Patrick supports Trump revoking Fauci’s security detail

Former NASCAR star Danica Patrick gave her seal of approval to President Donald Trump’s decision to revoke Dr. Anthony Fauci’s security detail.

In an Instagram story Friday night, Patrick shared a news story about Fauci losing the security detail with a quote from Trump, adding the caption “Damn right.”

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) requested security for Fauci in 2020 to protect him from threats he received as the top health official and public spokesperson during the COVID-19 pandemic. But that detail was pulled Thursday night.

“I think, you know, when you work for government, at some point your security detail comes off and, you know, you can’t have them forever,” Trump said of the decision. “We took some off other people, too, but you can’t have a security detail for the rest of your life because you work for government.”

When asked if he would feel partially responsible if something were to happen to Fauci, Trump said he would not.

“No. You know, they all made a lot of money. They can hire their own security,” Trump said. “Certainly, I would not take responsibility.”

Patrick has been one of the more outspoken figures in her sport in support of Trump and Republicans over the last year. She most recently suggested it must be difficult for California residents to accept how their state is managed after the government response to the LA wildfires.

After Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) CEO and Chief Engineer Janisse Quiñones said Wednesday teams have struggled to maintain water pressure on the system, which allows water to be pushed into fire hydrants, Patrick responded with a post on X.

“California has 840 miles of coast line and 3,000 lakes and reservoirs. Why don’t they have enough water to fix any and all fires?” she wrote on X.

“At some point I have to imagine it’s getting difficult for hardcore Cali lovers to accept the state of their state and how it’s managed.”

She then wrote that it’s time for Gov. Gavin Newsom to resign, using the term “Newscum.”

In October, Patrick confirmed in an interview on “Jesse Watters Primetime” she would be casting her first-ever vote for president in 2024, and it would be for Trump.

“It feels like voting for Donald Trump is like the vote of reason. It’s like the rational, reasonable choice,” Patrick told Watters.

Patrick added she doesn’t understand why “MAGA,” or Trump’s slogan of “Make America Great Again,” is considered an “insult” to some.

“I feel like, most of all, though, what this country could be if he gets into office, with all the amazing, brilliant people who are supporting him, I feel like it can not only make America great again, but make America greater than it’s ever been,” she said.

In that same interview, she expressed her belief that transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports, which became a key campaign issue for Trump and Republicans in 2024.

“It’s completely wrong,” Patrick said of transgender athletes being allowed to compete as women. “And this is coming from someone who was a woman who was basically in a man’s sport. A man is just different. Their hormones are different. Their body is different.”
