Convicted sex offender wanted for allegedly groping Texas girl

A man with a lengthy criminal history who was previously on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold is on the run after being accused of groping a 7-year-old Texas girl as she walked home from school.

Carlos Jose Ayala Morales, 43, has been charged with felony attempted indecency with a child, the Houston Police Department said. He is accused of grabbing the girl Jan. 27 while she was on her way home from her elementary school, Fox Houston reported.

The girl and her mother told the news outlet she was walking behind her older sister and a friend. They said the man ran up, groped her and ran away. The girl didn’t scream because she was in shock and told her older sister when they got home.

“A man came behind me, and he touched my private parts,” the girl told the station.

“I hope he’s caught and put away much longer, so he can’t hurt other children,” her mother said.

Morales has a lengthy criminal history. In 2017, he was charged with four counts of indecency with a child and evading arrest.

At the time, police believed Morales, who they called Ayala, was linked to “at least 10 sexual assault incidents in the northeast Houston and Harris County areas.”

Authorities were investigating a string of “sexual assaults of school-aged juvenile females, 7-15 years of age, as they traveled to and from school,” according to the news outlet.

In one incident, Ayala attempted to abduct one of the victims, a 7 year-old female, as she walked home from school with her 9-year-old brother,” police said.

“Reading that made me so scared, because that could have been [my child],” the victim’s mother said.

When he was arrested in 2017, ICE filed a detainer request for Morales, a Honduran citizen, which was lifted when he was convicted.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice told FOX 26 Ayala was transferred to prison to serve concurrent seven-year sentences for indecency with a child by exposure, three counts of indecency with a child, evading arrest, detention with a vehicle and burglary.

International Condom Day is a worldwide event organised by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with various community organisations and health advocates. It aims to emphasise the importance of condoms as a simple yet effective means of protecting sexual health. The day is not only about promoting condom use but also about fostering awareness and breaking down barriers to sexual health education.

By spotlighting the role of condoms in preventing HIV transmission, STIs, and unintended pregnancies, International Condom Day serves as a reminder that sexual health is an essential part of overall well-being and that condoms should be normalised as a critical tool in protecting that health.

    Significance of International Condom Day

International Condom Day holds great significance for many reasons, starting with the prevention of HIV/AIDS. Condoms are one of the most effective methods for reducing the risk of transmitting HIV during sexual activity, particularly in regions where HIV is prevalent. Condoms also provide protection against various STIs, including syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and human papillomavirus (HPV), which can lead to serious health complications if left untreated.

Moreover, International Condom Day plays a key role in reducing unplanned pregnancies, empowering individuals with the tools to make informed decisions about their sexual health. Contraception and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are essential components of reproductive health, and condoms offer a low-cost solution that anyone can use.

The World Health Organization (WHO) actively participates in this observance, highlighting innovative methods of promoting condom use, including creative campaigns and artistic expressions. These efforts are designed to engage the public, especially young people, and make the conversation about condoms more relatable, approachable, and engaging. February Is National Condom Month 2025! • Mariano Rivera, wife break silence after being accused of covering up child sex abuse

Mariano Rivera, wife break silence after being accused of covering up child sex abuse

New York Yankees legend Mariano Rivera and his wife Clara broke their silence on Thursday after they were named in a lawsuit and accused of covering up child sex abuse of a minor in their home and a summer camp connected with their church.

Joseph A. Ruta, their attorney, said in a statement that the first time they heard about the allegations was in 2022 – four years after the alleged incident took place. The attorney for the alleged victim at the time requested a financial settlement.

“Mariano and Clara Rivera do not tolerate child abuse of any kind and allegations that they knew about or failed to act on reports of child abuse are completely false,” the statement read, via the New York Post. “The very first time they heard about these allegations was nearly four years after the alleged incident, when in 2022 a New York attorney sent a letter requesting a financial settlement. This was followed by a second letter in 2023, from a different Florida law firm, again requesting a financial settlement.

“The lawsuit, which seeks financial damages for the Riveras’ alleged failure to act on alleged incidents that were never reported to them, is full of inaccurate and misleading statements which we have no doubt will not hold up in a court of law.”

In the lawsuit, a woman identified as “Jane Doe” said she was sexually abused by an older girl known as “MG” during a summer internship in 2018. MG was a minor at the time of the alleged incidents. The internship took place at the Ignite Life Center in Gainesville, Florida, which was affiliated with Rivera’s church.

The suit said that the alleged victim’s mother informed Clara of the abuse and that Clara promised to investigate the matter. However, they allegedly covered it up.

“Rather than take sufficient action to end the sexual abuse of Jane Doe, the Riveras each separately isolated and intimidated Jane Doe to remain silent about her abuse by MG to avoid causing trouble for Refuge of Hope and the Ignite Life Summer Internship,” the suit read.

The suit also alleged that MG abused the victim at the Rivera residence in Rye, New York, that summer during a barbecue.

“At all times relevant, [the Riveras] knew or should have known that MG was a risk to sexually abuse children… before and during the time of the barbecue,” the suit read.

“In order to avoid the potential scandal of child sexual abuse in its programs and otherwise protect [themselves] above all else, the Riveras… assured [Doe’s mother] that [Doe] was safe and in no danger at Ignite Life Center, despite actual or constructive knowledge that Doe remained vulnerable to additional acts of sexual abuse by MG.”

Several months later, in January 2019, Rivera became the first and still only player to be unanimously elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Later that year, President Donald Trump, during his first presidency, awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
