4 Nations Face-Off: Team USA falls to Sweden; set to face Canada in title game

Team USA lost its first game in the 4 Nations Face-Off on Monday night, falling to Sweden, 2-1, at the TD Garden in Boston.

However, despite the blemish on the record, they will still be playing in the championship game on Thursday night in the same arena against Canada, who they defeated, 3-1, on Saturday.

Team USA wasn’t at full strength in this matchup, as Matthew Tkachuk was absent from the bench with a lower-body injury. Auston Matthews also took the night off to battle an illness.

Also, his brother, Brady, was injured early in the first period during an attack in Sweden’s zone, which is worth monitoring heading into that title game against Canada.

Still, it was the U.S. getting on the board first thanks to Chris Kreider, the New York Rangers star, who scored his first goal of the tournament.

Kreider hadn’t played yet in the tournament, but was needed with the number of forwards out. And he wasted no time getting involved, scoring before one minute ticked off the first period clock.

BOSTON CROWD BOOS CANADIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM AFTER TEAM USA HEARD SAME JEERS DURING 4 NATIONS FACE-OFF

Zach Werenski had gotten a pass from Jack Eichel and took a shot on net that was saved by Samuel Ersson, but the deflection went right to Kreider’s stick. Kreider didn’t waste any time, one-timing the deflection to find the back of the net.

But Sweden made sure to take the lead into the locker room after the first period after Jesper Bratt sniped his first goal of the tournament with just 56 seconds left to play.

That goal gave Sweden the lead after Gustav Nyquist tied things up earlier with his first goal of the tournament as well.

The second and third periods both went scoreless, but Team USA was threatening late in the third when Jake Oettinger was called back to the bench to allow an extra U.S. attacker on the ice.

Multiple chances were seen with the 6-on-5, but Sweden was able to thwart any comeback from the U.S. to come away with its first win of the tournament.

Prior to this matchup, Sweden had lost to both Canada and Finland in overtime, which gave them two points total.

It may be a loss, but Team USA will be pitted against Team Canada in what’s expected to be another fiery clash after what transpired over the weekend.

Three fights broke out in nine seconds, as United States players took exception to the Montreal crowd booing during “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Canada got on the scoreboard first thanks to Connor McDavid, but Team USA responded with three unanswered goals to win the rivalry game.

How to set up a home network like a pro

With remote work becoming the norm, a reliable home network is more crucial than ever. Whether you’re video conferencing, streaming or managing critical work tasks, a robust and secure home network is no longer a luxury but a necessity.

A well-configured network ensures your devices stay connected and that your online experience runs smoothly. Here’s how to set up a high-performance home network, understand the equipment you’ll need and secure your connection.

Stay protected & informed! Get security alerts & expert tech tips—sign up for Kurt’s The CyberGuy Report now

    1) Install your router and configure important settings

Start by placing your router in a central location within your home. The closer your device is to the router, the stronger and more reliable your Wi-Fi signal will be. For a wired network, connect a switch or Ethernet hub to an available power outlet using a high-quality Ethernet cable.

Once your router is installed, it’s time to configure the security settings. Find your router’s online setup page on the instructions, which are usually provided with the device or printed on the router itself. Key settings to change include renaming your network and updating the network security key. Check our list of the top routers for best security here.

    2) Decide if you want a wired or wireless setup

When setting up your home network, you’ll need to choose between a wired or wireless configuration. Wired networks offer enhanced security and faster speeds, but wireless networks offer the convenience of connecting multiple devices without needing additional hardware.

    Wired devices:

Use an RJ-45 network cable to link your device to the router or switch. Most modern routers support Gigabit Ethernet (1,000 Mbps). For performance, it’s best to use Cat5eCat6 or Cat6a cables between your devices and router.

    • Cat5e supports gigabit speeds but can struggle over long distances.
    • Cat6 and Cat6a cables offer superior performance with speeds up to 10 Gbps. While Cat6 is adequate for most homes, Cat6a is ideal for longer distances or for homes with 10 Gbps devices. Cat6a cables are typically used in high-demand environments, like data centers or large offices.

Switches are essential for connecting multiple wired devices within your home network. They allow devices to communicate over a single Ethernet segment and can be cascaded to extend your network. There are two types of switches:

    • Unmanaged switches: Affordable and straightforward, these typically offer basic features and come in five- or eight-port configurations.
    • Managed switches: Higher-priced but offer advanced features such as virtual LANs, traffic segmentation and even the ability to block traffic from specific devices.

Some switches also provide Power over Ethernet, which can power devices like access points or security cameras without needing a separate power outlet. This is particularly useful for devices in hard-to-reach areas.

    Wireless devices:

To connect wireless devices, you’ll need a Wi-Fi-capable router or wireless access point. Wi-Fi comes in different generations, such as Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6. Make sure your devices and router are compatible with the latest Wi-Fi version. If needed, a USB adapter can help update your devices for compatibility.

Wireless networks operate on two primary bands:

    • 2.4 GHz: Offers longer range but with lower bandwidth. It’s ideal for devices like smart home gadgets that don’t require high-speed data.
    • 5 GHz: Provides higher bandwidth and faster speeds but has a shorter range. It’s perfect for devices like laptops and streaming devices that need fast, uninterrupted connectivity.

HOW TO SPEED UP YOUR WI-FI AND INTERNET CONNECTION

    3) Extend your network range

Both wired and wireless networks can experience connectivity issues if there are physical barriers or long distances between devices and the router. To expand the range of your network, consider these options:

    • Ethernet cables: Ethernet cables can extend up to 100 meters. Adding a switch allows multiple devices to connect at different locations in your home. You can also use power-line adapters, which send your network signal through your home’s electrical wiring, enabling network access in rooms far from the router.
    • Wireless repeatersThese devices extend the Wi-Fi signal by amplifying and retransmitting it.
    • Mesh systems: A mesh network uses multiple nodes (router-like devices) that communicate with each other to create a seamless Wi-Fi network. They’re easy to set up and provide consistent coverage. Check out our top mesh networking winners here.

HOW TO EXTEND WI-FI TO POINTS OUTSIDE YOUR HOME

    4) Secure your home network

Securing your home network is critical to maintaining your privacy. Here are some best practices to follow.

    • Change default passwords: Make sure to change the default passwords on all devices that control or access your network.
    • Activate the firewall: This helps block unauthorized traffic and protects against potential threats.
    • Minimize open ports: Routers use virtual ports for specific services, such as web traffic on port 80 or secure browsing on port 443. Opening only the necessary ports helps reduce vulnerabilities.
    • Disable remote access: Turn off remote access to your router and cable modem unless absolutely necessary.
    • Use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption: Always secure your wireless network with a strong password and WPA encryption to prevent unauthorized access.

    5) Start with the right internet plan for a stronger home network

No matter how advanced your home network setup is, your internet speed and reliability depend on your provider and plan. If you’re experiencing lag, buffering or connectivity issues, it might be time to upgrade or switch to a better internet service.

    • Choose the right speed for your needs: Households with multiple users streaming, gaming or working remotely should aim for at least 100-500 Mbps for smooth performance.
    • Check for fiber or 5G home internet: If available in your area, these options provide faster and more stable connections than traditional cable or DSL.
    • Compare plans for the best deal: Internet providers often have better pricing or faster speeds based on your location; switching could improve your connection and save money.

Find the best internet plans in your area and get the most out of your home network.

Rubio, Netanyahu affirm ‘common strategy’ for Gaza, set sights on Iran in join statement

Secretary of State Marco Rubio advanced President Donald Trump’s “bold” plan for Gaza during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday.

Rubio and Netanyahu both highlighted that Iran is the single largest obstacle to peace in the region during a Sunday joint statement. While Netanyahu did not comment on Trump’s specific plans for Gaza, Rubio emphasized that the U.S. and Israel cannot return to “tired” strategies that have failed to produce peace in the past.

“The president has also been very bold about his view of what the future for Gaza should be. Not the same tired ideas of the past, but something that’s bold and something that, frankly, took courage and vision in order to outline. And it may have shocked and surprised many, but what cannot continue is the same cycle we’ll repeat over and over again and wind up in the exact same place,” Rubio said.

Netanyahu affirmed that he and Trump share a “common strategy” for Gaza that includes the complete destruction of Hamas as a political and military force. He did not comment specifically on Trump’s stated plans to develop Gaza.

Netanyahu vowed to “open the gates of hell” on Hamas if it did not follow through with releasing every remaining hostage in Gaza.

“The common theme in all these challenges is Iran. It is the single greatest source of instability in the region, behind every terrorist group, behind every act of violence, behind every destabilizing activity, behind everything that threatens peace and stability for the millions of people who call this region home, is Iran,” Rubio said.

‘LEVEL IT’: TRUMP SAYS US WILL ‘TAKE OVER’ GAZA STRIP, REBUILD IT TO STABILIZE MIDDLE EAST

The meeting comes more than a week after Trump raised eyebrows with a call to remove Palestinians from Gaza and develop the area under U.S. ownership. Trump said he remains committed to the plan despite heavy pushback.

“I’m committed to buying and owning Gaza,” Trump said. “As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it, other people may do it, through our auspices. • Democrats set to ‘waste millions’ litigating President Donald Trump’s executive orders, University of California, Berkeley, law professor John Yoo says

Democrats set to ‘waste millions’ litigating President Donald Trump’s executive orders, University of California, Berkeley, law professor John Yoo says

Democrats will likely “waste millions” of dollars battling President Donald Trump’s executive orders and actions in court with little success to show for it, according to University of California, Berkeley law professor John Yoo.

Trump “will have some of the nation’s finest attorneys defending his executive orders and initiatives, and the Democrats will waste millions of dollars losing in court,” Yoo, the former deputy assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel, told Fox News Digital on Tuesday when asked whether there are efforts of “lawfare” against Trump in his second administration.

“I expect that Trump will ultimately prevail on two-thirds or more of his executive orders, but the Democrats may succeed in delaying them for about a year or so,” Yoo said.

The Trump administration has been hit by at least 54 lawsuits in response to Trump’s executive orders and actions since his inauguration on Jan. 20. Trump has signed at least 63 executive orders just roughly three weeks into his administration, including 26 on his first day alone.

The executive orders and actions are part of Trump’s shift of the federal government to fall in line with his “America First” policies, including snuffing out government overspending and mismanagement through the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), banning biological men from competing in women’s sports and deporting thousands of illegal immigrants who flooded the nation during the Biden administration.

‘ANYTHING BUT ORDINARY’: LEGAL EXPERTS SHRED NY V. TRUMP AS ‘ONE OF THE WORST’ CASES IN HISTORY

President Donald Trump’s administration has been hit by dozens of lawsuits in response to Trump’s executive orders and actions since his inauguration on Jan. 20.  (Ian Maule/Getty Images)

The onslaught of lawsuits come as Democratic elected officials fume over the second Trump administration’s policies, most notably the creation of DOGE, which is in the midst of investigating various federal agencies to cut spending fat, corruption and mismanagement of funds.

A handful of Democratic state attorneys general and other local leaders vowed following Trump’s election win to set off a new resistance to his agenda, vowing to battle him in the courts over policies they viewed as harmful to constituents. Upon his inauguration and his policies taking effect, Democrats have amplified their rhetoric to battle Trump in the courts, and also to take the fight to “the streets.”

“We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. We’re going to fight it in the streets,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said in January of battling Trump’s policies.

“Our biggest weapon historically, over three years alongside the Trump administration, has been the bully pulpit and a whole lot of legal action, so my guess is it will continue,” New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy said the day after Trump’s inauguration.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said at a protest over DOGE and its chair, Elon Musk, earlier in February, “We are gonna be in your face, we are gonna be on your a–es, and we are going to make sure you understand what democracy looks like, and this ain’t it.”

‘PLAYING WITH THE COURTS’: TRUMP ADMIN HIT WITH DOZENS OF SUITS AFTER YEARS OF PRESIDENT CONDEMNING ‘LAWFARE’

The dozens of cases come after Trump faced four criminal indictments, on both the state and federal level, in the interim of his first and second administrations. Trump had railed against the cases — including the Manhattan trial and conviction, the Georgia election racketeering case, and former special counsel Jack Smith’s election case and classified documents case — as examples of the Democratic Party waging “lawfare” against him in an effort to hurt his re-election chances in the 2024 cycle.

Donald Trump appears in Manhattan Criminal Court

Yoo, when asked about the state of lawfare against Trump now that he’s back in the Oval Office, said the president’s political foes have shifted from lawfare to launching cases to tie up the administration in court.

“I think that what is going on now is different than lawfare,” he said. “I think of lawfare as the deliberate use by the party in power to prosecute its political opponents to affect election outcomes. The Democrats at the federal and state level brought charges against Trump to drive him out of the 2024 elections.”

“The lawsuits against Trump now are the usual thrust and parry of the separation of powers,” Yoo explained. “The Democrats are not attacking Trump personally and there is no election. Instead, they are suing Trump as President to stop his official policies.

LAWSUIT TRACKER: NEW RESISTANCE BATTLING TRUMP’S SECOND TERM THROUGH ONSLAUGHT OF LAWSUITS TAKING AIM AT EOS

Yoo said the Republican Party also relied on the courts in an effort to prevent policies put forth during the Obama era and Biden administration, including when President Barack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law in 2010, or his 2012 immigration policy, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Republicans also challenged the Biden administration in court after President Biden attempted to forgive student debt through executive action in 2022.

‘LOSING THEIR MINDS’: DEM LAWMAKERS FACE BACKLASH FOR INVOKING ‘UNHINGED’ VIOLENT RHETORIC AGAINST MUSK

“Turnabout is fair play,” Yoo said of groups suing over various administrations’ executive actions or policies.

“What makes this also different than the law is that now Trump controls the Justice Department,” he added, explaining that Democrats will spend millions on the cases, which will likely result in delays for many of the Trump policies but will not completely thwart the majority of them.

A handful of the more than 50 lawsuits have resulted in judges temporarily blocking the orders, such as at least three federal judges issuing preliminary injunctions against Trump’s order ending birthright citizenship.

TRUMP 100% DISAGREES WITH FEDERAL JUDGE’S ‘CRAZY’ RULING BLOCKING DOGE FROM TREASURY SYSTEM

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked on Wednesday during the press briefing whether the administration believes the courts have the authority to issue such injunctions. Leavitt appeared to echo Yoo that the administration will be “vindicated” in court as the cases make their way through the judicial system.

“We believe that the injunction actions that have been issued by these judges, have no basis in the law and have no grounds. And we will again, as the president said very clearly yesterday, comply with these orders. But it is the administration’s position that we will ultimately be vindicated, and the president’s executive actions that he took were completely within the law,” Leavitt said, before citing the “weaponization” of the court systems against Trump while he was on the campaign trail.

“We look forward to the day where he can continue to implement his agenda,” she said. “And I would just add, it’s our view that this is the continuation of the weaponization of justice that we have seen against President Trump. He fought it for two years on the campaign trail — it won’t stop him now.”

JCPenney set to close stores in 2025

JCPenney is planning to close a “handful” of stores over the coming months as it struggles to keep pace with rapidly changing market conditions.

“While we do not have plans to significantly reduce our store count, we expect a handful of JCPenney stores to close by mid-year,” a spokesperson for the company told FOX Business.

Eight locations across as many states are closing, with the company citing reasons such as “expiring lease agreements” and “market changes.”

According to SB360 Capital Partners, which handles liquidation sales, one store in each of the following states is shutting down: California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire and West Virginia.

JCPENNEY CEO SAYS COMPANY FOCUSED ON AMERICAN WORKING FAMILIES AS ECONOMY WEIGHS ON CONSUMERS’ WALLETS

The company said the closures weren’t related to its merger with SPARC Group, the parent of Aéropostale, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Lucky Brand and Nautica, that was announced last month.

In January, the companies agreed to combine to form a new organization, Catalyst Brands, where they plan to create a portfolio of six retail banners.

Prior to the merger, JCPenney contended with slowing foot traffic and lackluster sales for years, causing it to file for bankruptcy protection at the height of the pandemic. It emerged from bankruptcy in 2020 as a private company after being acquired by Simon Property Group and Brookfield Asset Management Inc.

Under the rescue deal, JCPenney agreed to permanently close nearly a third of its 846 stores as part of its restructuring. Its leadership also tried to position the company as a place for working families so it could boost traffic.

If you’re single, you’re probably licking your fingers clean of melted chocolate while scrolling through social media, watching couples post their perfect, “I love you more than chocolate” captions, which—spoiler alert—isn’t true (no one loves you more than chocolate). But hey, who’s counting? To make this day even more fun and relatable, there are Chocolate Day 2025 funny memes, jokes, hilarious V-Day Instagram posts, viral images and photos that set a bittersweet mood during the week-long celebration. Valentine Week 2025 Calendar With Full Dates: Rose Day, Chocolate Day, Valentine’s Day and More, Here’s the Date Sheet To Celebrate the Week of Love.

Let’s start with the couples, those romantic souls who think that the way to show their love is through sugar-coated gestures. They’ll post the most perfect photos of themselves sharing a chocolate truffle or nibbling on a fancy chocolate-dipped strawberry like it’s an act of ultimate devotion. Then come the memes—the true saviors of Chocolate Day. The internet absolutely delivers when it comes to cutting through all the gooey, sugary, too-sweet-to-handle love floating around. And honestly, who can argue with that? If chocolate didn’t come with a side of self-care (read: Netflix, sweatpants, and zero judgment), we’d have to rethink our entire relationship with the cocoa bean. At least we can count on chocolate to be consistently available and not post about how much it loves us every five minutes. Anti-Valentine Week 2025 Calendar With Full Dates: What Are the 7 Days of Anti-Romance? Slap Day, Flirt Day, Break Up Day and More, Date Sheet of Self-Growth and Healing.

While couples are busy playing cute, sharing-the-same-piece-of-chocolate games, we’re over here living our best life—eating an entire cake, half of it in silence, and the other half with no need for a heartfelt conversation about what this means for the future. This is true love. No questions asked. And then, of course, the internet steps in with the golden memes about the reality of Chocolate Day. Check out some really funny Chocolate Day memes and jokes:

So, whether you’re a couple sharing a single truffle or a solo adventurer devouring an entire box of chocolate while binge-watching the entire season of something you’ve already watched three times, Chocolate Day is a sweet reminder that sometimes the best love story is the one you share with yourself… and a good piece of chocolate. Here’s to the chocolate, the memes, and the real love stories. May they all last as long as the sugar high.

Chiefs’ Justin Reid laments price of Super Bowl LIX tickets with family set to watch him

Kansas City Chiefs star Justin Reid is extra motivated to play in Super Bowl LIX.

Reid could be a part of history if the Chiefs win their third straight, as no other NFL team has won three consecutive Super Bowl titles since the NFL and AFL began playing each other in the 1960s. But this year’s game means a little more.

He told the Kansas City Star he bought as many as 30 Super Bowl tickets for his friends and family to watch him play against the Philadelphia Eagles. The average Super Bowl ticket price has been around $7,900, according to StubHub.

“We’re excited to play, and we’re chasing glory,” he told the newspaper. “But we’ve got to win just for me to break even.”

Reid and the Chiefs do receive a bonus if they win the game. They reportedly received $164,000 for their win last year.

The defensive back signed with the Chiefs before the 2022 season after four years with the Houston Texans. He signed a three-year, $31.5 million deal. He’s made $9.99 million this season.

This year, he had 87 tackles and two interceptions as Kansas City finished the regular season 15-2 and earned a first-round bye.

One of the games will feature the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams, the Herald Sun says.

The Birds are back in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years after having won it in 2018, while the Rams took home the title three years ago.

The Eagles and Rams are the only two teams that are a part of the NFL’s Global Markets Program in Australia, which was made to build fandom and support outside the United States.

The MCG holds roughly 100,000 people.

It wouldn’t be the first time the NFL toyed with Australia, as the Denver Broncos and then-San Diego Chargers played a preseason game there in 1999.

The outlet said the Victorian government and the NFL “have been in secret talks for months.”
