People pounce on Rick Warren for tweet about Jesus: “you’ll find him in the middle”

Rick Warren faced a raft of backlash on X in response to a post in which he referred to the two thieves who were crucified on either side of Jesus, and declared, “If you’re looking for the #realJesus, not a caricature disfigured by partisan motivations, you’ll find him in the middle, not on either side.”

Warren, the author of the popular book “The Purpose Driven Life,” founded Saddleback Church with his wife Kay in 1980, according to pastorrick.com.

His Feb. 11 post has earned thousands of replies and more than 3 million views.

Seth Dillon, the CEO of the satire site the Babylon Bee, sarcastically quipped, “Yeah, because if there’s one thing Jesus was known for, it was his desire to meet in the middle and compromise on the issues that matter most.”

“This is possibly the worst Biblical interpretation I’ve ever seen, and that’s really saying something,” conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey declared. “Jesus is not ‘in the middle’ on the murder of children, gender deception, the definition of marriage, or anything else, for that matter. In fact, I seem to remember Him having a particular disdain for the lukewarm.”

“What happens when the authorial intent of a biblical text is discarded? The text becomes a wax nose, bent according to our own intent. Case in point,” Brad Klassen, a professor at The Master’s Seminary, wrote regarding Warren’s post.

David Limbaugh, the brother of the late conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh, tweeted, “Meaningless mush,” adding, “with all due respect.”

In his most recent tweet prior to the one that came under so much scrutiny, Warren had written, “Jesus: “Whoever #serves me must #FOLLOW me.” Jn 12:26,” adding, “Seems obvious, right? But while serving Jesus in ministry, we can stop #following Him! Instead, we start following politicians, podcasters, or peers-and our vision, values & priorities come from social media, not Jesus. #bad”

  • Florida Senator Rick Scott says Trump won because of Democrats’ ‘foolish decisions’

Florida Senator Rick Scott says Trump won because of Democrats’ ‘foolish decisions’

Republican Senator Rick Scott credited the Democrats’ “foolish decisions” with propelling President Donald Trump back into the White House.

“The Democrats are in the stages of a loss. They’re either in the grief stage or the anger stage, but they don’t understand that Donald Trump won the presidency, and part of the reason he won is all the Democrats’ foolish decisions,” the Florida Republican told Fox News’ “The Bottom Line.”

Scott went on to say that Trump won on a pledge to make government accountable and transparent, and he claimed that the president and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chair Elon Musk are fulfilling that promise.

The senator said Democrats were frustrated by Trump and Musk’s efforts to reform the government.

Florida Sen. Rick Scott praised Elon Musk’s management of DOGE.

Musk announced a series of “super obvious” changes that the US treasury and DOGE jointly agreed to on Saturday. Among them was requiring the treasury to add a “payment authorization code” and rationale to all outgoing payments and strengthening implementation of the DO-NOT-PAY list to ensure federal funds aren’t going to terrorist fronts and other fraudsters.

President Donald Trump predicted that Musk is likely to find hundreds of billions of dollars in “fraud and abuse” once DOGE sets its sights on The Department of Education and Pentagon, in a pre-Superbowl interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier.

  • Rick Caruso launches foundation to rebuild after LA wildfires

Rick Caruso launches foundation to rebuild after LA wildfires

Los Angeles real estate developer Rick Caruso has launched a nonprofit to help rebuild and restore communities impacted by the wildfires.

Caruso, whose real time net worth is $5.8 billion, according to Forbes, and who ran for Los Angeles mayor against Karen Bass in 2022, started Steadfast LA on Monday.

“You have to have private enterprise involved in this because government alone can’t do it,” Caruso told local FOX 11. “It’s too big.”

Caruso is using his business leader connections in the effort, looking at issues like putting power lines underground and using AI for building code plan checks and corrections.

He has called Mayor Bass but has not connected with her yet.

“I want to make her very efficient and productive in this,” Caruso said, adding that his nonprofit’s work has nothing to do with politics, even if Bass’ supporters accuse him of politicizing the tragedy.

“There’s nothing about politics in this,” Caruso told FOX 11. “This is so much bigger than politics and that’s an insulting comment.”

He added that at this time, he is not considering a bid for either governor of California or Los Angeles mayor.

Steadfast LA is spearheaded by Najla Kayyem, a commercial real estate marketing executive who used to work for Caruso, FOX 11 reported. The local TV station says Upfront Ventures general partner Kobie Fuller; head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios Mike Hopkins; Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and his wife; former U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas Nicole Avant; co-chair of Gensler Andy Cohen and executives from banking, insurance, real estate and private equity companies are all involved.

The foundation’s funding will come solely from Caruso, he told the Los Angeles Times. None of the companies or executives will be paid for their roles in the assistance.
