Valentine’s Day 2025 Quick And Easy Skincare Tips For A Date Ready Skin

    {By: Dr. Aashna Kanchwala}

Whether it is a romantic dinner, a special occasion, or a casual sit-down, achieving skin that is radiant and glowing will boost confidence and make a remarkable impact. Dates are exciting, and although skincare is a long-term commitment, there are quick, easy and beneficial ways to achieve flawless skin before your big date. Here are some expert recommended skincare tips to ensure your skin looks fresh, healthy, and glowing in no time.

    1. Cleanse And Exfoliate For A Fresh Start

Start by washing your face using a gentle, hydrating cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and other impurities. This goes a long way in ensuring that a clean base is provided for the rest of your skincare routine. You can also engage in mild exfoliation to eliminate dead skin cells, revealing a smoother and brighter complexion. As an exfoliant, use one with fine particles or an enzyme based exfoliator to ensure that your skin is not irritated.

    2. Hydrate And Moisturise For A Dewy Glow

Achieving plump and glowing skin comes down to hydration and staying moisturised. To begin with, use a hydrating toner or essence to replenish moisture. Follow it up with a lightweight and non-greasy moisturiser suited for your skin type.

As an extra tip, for a boost of radiance consider using a hyaluronic acid serum to assist in lock in moisture for a naturally beautiful glow.

    3. Reduce Puffiness And Dull Skin With Ice Therapy

If your complexion is looking tired or puffy, try ice therapy. Take an ice pack and soft cloth, wrap ice cubes in it, and set on top of your face for a few seconds. It helps reduce puffiness, pore size, and skin blood flow for a revitalised look.

    4. Sheet Masks For Brightening

A sheet mask designed to hydrate and/or brighten with ingredients such as vitamin C, niacinamide, or aloe vera can do wonders for your skin. Apply it for 10-15 minutes before starting the makeup routine to enhance natural radiance and provide a base for foundation.

    5. Use An Illuminating Primer

For instant glow, try using an illuminating primer before applying your makeup. It helps to blur any skin imperfections for a smooth tone, and provides a soft glow for the entire evening.

    6. Do Not Apply Sunscreen For Evening Dates

Regardless of when your date is of a night time nature or not, the sun for the most part can leave skin looking dull. In the morning, apply a light sweeping layer of sunscreen to your face in order to guard against sun damage and skin ageing.

    7. Spot Treatment Therapy For Quick Intervensionist Procedure

In case of an unforeseen pimple showing on the face, resist the urge to pop it. Apply a spot treatment containing salicylic acid or tea tree oil in order to treat the inflammation and minimise the redness.

    8. For Lively Finish: Lips And Eyes Makeup

Perfect look can easily be ruined by dry lips. Exfoliate the lips and follow up with a hydrating nourishing lip balm. When it comes to tired eyes, an under-eye cream featuring caffeine is perfect for minimising dark circles and puffiness.

Saquon Barkley had just finished up his rookie season with the New York Giants and wasn’t at all focused on the Philadelphia Eagles’ first-ever Super Bowl victory parade in the City of Brotherly Love in February 2019.

Seven years later, Barkley was a catalyst in the Eagles beating the Kansas City Chiefs to win Sunday’s Super Bowl in his first year with the franchise. And he’ll be one of the players every fan in the streets of Philadelphia wants to see during Friday’s parade.

The parade, which kicks off at 11 a.m. ET at the Sports Complex and ends with a ceremony on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, is expected to be even bigger than the parade in February 2019, when Jason Kelce entertained a crowd in a Mummers costume.

Barkley got a small taste of what to expect Friday when he made an appearance Thursday at Raising Cane’s in Trevose, Pennsylvania, alongside the chicken chain’s founder, Todd Graves. Eagles fans were lined up as early as 5 a.m. to see and thank Barkley for bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to the city.

Speaking with reporters, Barkley acknowledged he wasn’t sure what to expect as he travels around Philadelphia, but he knows it’ll be a party to remember.

“Philly fans have been amazing all year round,” said Barkley, AP Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 2,000 yards in 2024. “Just the love and support they have for this team. This city truly buys into this team, and you could see it out there how many people showed up.

“I’m expecting it to be a blast — a party — and I’m excited to be here with Raising Cane’s with Todd, who’s a really good friend of mine.

“It’s been a crazy week so far for me, but just taking it all in and enjoying it.”

Barkley said he won’t be the player making a Kelce-esque speech on the museum steps, but he knows which players he would choose to do so because of how much they mean to the city.

“It won’t be me, I can guarantee that,” he said, laughing. “That’s not my thing. If I had to pick one, I’d say Lane Johnson or [Brandon Graham]. I think they’re the two longest-tenured Eagles right now, so I think it would be perfect for one of them to do that, especially if it is BG’s last game and last year with us. For him to go out with a bang would be pretty cool.”

While Barkley will enjoy celebrating victory with his family, friends and teammates, the City of Philadelphia will be making sure to keep the party a safe one, especially after the shooting during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade last year. One person was killed, and 22 others were wounded, including 11 children.

Eagles fans have mobbed the streets of Philadelphia many times in the past, including twice this year after the Eagles won the NFC championship and Super Bowl.

“You will see a large police presence continue throughout the day and into the evening,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said of the parade.

Barkley is ready to celebrate with the fans.

“[The fans] have been amazing to me, my family, especially my little daughter,” Barkley said. “From the first time I had my opening interview and my daughter was with me, they fell in love with her. It’s been a blast. For the season to go the way it went and finish it off the way we ended as Super Bowl champs, you can’t make it up.”

  • Zelenskyy ready ‘to do a deal’ with Trump on raw earth minerals and military assistance

Zelenskyy ready ‘to do a deal’ with Trump on raw earth minerals and military assistance

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is preparing to meet with Vice President JD Vance at the Munich Security Conference later this week after confirming on Friday he is ready to “do a deal” with President Donald Trump.

According to an interview with Reuters, Zelenskyy said he was ready to supply the U.S. with rare-earth minerals in exchange for Washington’s continued backing of its war effort.

“If we are talking about a deal, then let’s do a deal, we are only for it,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president has made clear he is also open to engaging in peace talks with Russia to end the three-year-long war, though possible terms for securing a peace deal remain varied and unknown.

Though Zelenskyy has said he is looking for “guarantees” when it comes to future security assurances for the war-torn country.

These security assurances will likely need to be more than a formal handshake paired with a signed document, as Russia has twice violated its last agreement with Ukraine, known as the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.

The deal saw Kyiv hand over its nuclear arsenal to Moscow for dismantlement in exchange for sovereignty and independence guarantees from Russia, the U.S. and the U.K. However, the agreement did not stop Russia from invading Ukraine twice under Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelenskyy apparently first floated the idea of trading Ukraine’s mineral resources – roughly 20% of which are located in now Russian controlled territory, including half of the rare-earth variety – under his “victory plan” first presented to Western allies last fall, reported Reuters.

Rare-earth materials are used in the production of consumer electronics and electric engines. Zelenskyy has warned that Russia could give these resources to its allies like North Korea and Iran – the latter of which the U.S. just last week began to even more heavily sanction.

“We need to stop Putin and protect what we have – a very rich Dnipro region, central Ukraine,” Zelenskyy reportedly said.

While Trump will not attend the Munich Security Conference, Zelenskyy will lead the Ukrainian delegation there and is reportedly expected to meet with Vance and special envoy to Ukraine and Russia, retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg.

Trump told reporters last week that Zelenskyy may travel to D.C. in the week following the security conference, which runs Feb. 14-16, at which time both presidents will once again meet to discuss the war.

“I’d like to see that war end,” Trump told reporters last week. “We’re looking to do a deal with Ukraine where they’re going to secure what we’re giving them with their rare earth and other things.”

Russia’s war effort in eastern Ukraine continues to rage, and Moscow on Friday claimed it had captured the mining town of Toretsk in the Donetsk region despite Ukraine’s months-long attempts to stop Russian advances.

As Moscow continues to see incremental gains in eastern Ukraine, Kyiv is also pushing forward with its own attempts to seize Russian territory, which security experts have told Fox News Digital could be an attempt to give it better bargaining leverage come the time for ceasefire talks with Moscow.

Zelenskyy also said on Friday that Ukraine had opened a new offensive in Russia’s Kursk region, where Kyiv first began its incursion in August 2024.

“In the areas of the Kursk operation, new assaults have taken place,” Zelenskyy said during his nightly address. “Russia has once again deployed North Korean soldiers alongside its troops.”

It is unclear if North Korea has sent more troops to Russia after its initial deployment of as many as 12,000 men last October, though South Korean intelligence has warned Pyongyang is planning to do so.

Zelenskyy Sunday night said Ukrainian troops in Kursk “demonstrate highly effective enemy destruction,” though he did not detail any casualty rates among Russian or North Korean troops.

“We must hold all our positions firmly,” he said. “The stronger we stand on the front lines, the stronger our diplomacy – our work with partners – will be.”

  • Canada ready for Trump tariff fight as country’s leaders threaten retaliation: ‘dollar-for-dollar’

Canada ready for Trump tariff fight as country’s leaders threaten retaliation: ‘dollar-for-dollar’

OTTAWA — On his first day of office as the 47th President, Donald Trump put Canadian leaders in panic mode that evening while signing executive orders in the Oval Office of the White House in the presence of journalists.

Responding to reporters’ questions, Trump reiterated his plan to slap a 25% tariff on both Mexico and Canada “because they’re allowing vast numbers of people… and fentanyl to come in,” and said, “I think we’ll do it on Feb. 1.”

Trump signed the executive order called the America First Trade Policy that includes a provision to “assess the unlawful migration and fentanyl flows” from Canada, Mexico and China “and recommend appropriate trade and national security measures to resolve that emergency” by April 1.

Whether the tariffs come next week or in the spring, Canadian leaders are ready to retaliate.

“Two things will happen,” outgoing Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Thursday about Trump’s tariff threat.

“One, Canada will have a strong, robust response,” he said. “And two, prices for American consumers on just about everything will go up, and we don’t think he wants that.”

Trudeau, who leaves office on March 9 when his successor as Liberal Party leader and prime minister is named, also addressed Trump’s border beef with Canada.

He said that less than 1% of both illegal drugs and migrants enter the U.S. from Canada, noting that his government invested about $904 million to strengthen border security and Canada’s immigration system.

Canadian government officials have drafted a plan to impose counter-tariffs worth about $26 billion on the U.S. if the Trump administration proceeds with his tariff measures.

Canada’s response will be “dollar-for-dollar, tariff-for-tariff,” Doug Ford, premier of Canada’s most populous province of Ontario, said in an interview.

Had Trump imposed the tariffs against Canada on his Jan. 20 return to the White House, the Canadian government reportedly was ready to tack on tariffs to several U.S. products, such as orange juice from the president’s state of residence, Florida, and bourbon from Kentucky, home to Republican Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul.

In Ontario, Ford ordered the province’s Liquor Control Board to clear the shelves of U.S. alcohol should the tariffs arrive.

At a Friday news conference, the premier said that he would call an election next week that would send Ontarians to the polls on Feb. 27. Ford seeks “a strong mandate” to “fight against Donald Trump’s tariffs” and his “attack” against the province’s families, businesses and communities.

Ford has two trips planned to Washington, D.C., next month.

On Wednesday, he and his fellow provincial and territorial premiers held a virtual meeting with Trudeau in which an informal “Buy Canadian” campaign was discussed to promote homegrown rather than American-made products.

At a news conference on the day before, David Eby, premier of the western Canadian province of British Columbia, went even further in responding to the arrival of “catastrophic” tariffs coming from south of the border.

“We will not spend money in a country that wants to do economic harm to Canadians,” he said.

However, in Trump’s view, it’s the other way around.

In a virtual address to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, Trump said the U.S. has between a $200 billion and $250 billion trade deficit with Canada. “We don’t need their gas,” he said of the country.

According to a TD Economics report released this month, the U.S. is on track to record a trade deficit with Canada of $45 billion, all of which involved Canadian energy exports to the U.S.

“If you take energy off the table, the U.S. has a surplus when it comes to trade,” said Ford, who spent 20 years working in the U.S. through a family business and who has a family home in Florida.

On the U.S. podcast “Standpoint,” former Canadian Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper said that “it’s actually Canada that subsidizes the United States in this regard” and “maybe Canadians,” he offered, “should be looking at selling their oil and gas to other people.”

Hartford, Connecticut-born Canadian Green Party Leader Elizabeth May — who earlier this month joked that Canada could welcome the states of Washington, Oregon and California in response to Trump’s musings about annexing Canada as the 51st state — believes the president has inadvertently promoted Canadian unity.

“Canada is stronger now than I’ve ever seen it,” she said in an interview.

“All Canadians are concerned about protecting Canada against Trump.”
