    International Angelman Day 2025 Date

International Angelman Day 2025 falls on Saturday, February 15.

    What is Angelman Syndrome?

Angelman syndrome (AS) is a rare neurogenetic disorder that affects an individual’s development, causing severe physical and intellectual disabilities. It is typically caused by the loss of function of the UBE3A gene on chromosome 15, which plays a critical role in brain function. People with Angelman syndrome often experience developmental delays, speech impairments, seizures, and mobility issues. They may also display frequent laughter, happy demeanor, and a love for social interaction, which are characteristic traits of the condition. February 2025 Holidays and Festivals Calendar: Get Full List of Major Events in the Second Month of the Year.

The severity of symptoms can vary, but most individuals with AS require lifelong care and support. Although there is no cure for Angelman syndrome, early diagnosis and intervention can help improve quality of life, enhance communication, and provide opportunities for growth and development.

    International Angelman Day Significance

International Angelman Day is an essential observance that provides a platform for families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and advocates to come together and share their experiences with the broader community. This day encourages the world to learn more about Angelman syndrome and its impact, while fostering empathy and inclusion for those affected.

One of the key goals of International Angelman Day is to raise public awareness about the disorder, which is often misunderstood due to its rarity. By increasing knowledge about Angelman syndrome, this observance aims to reduce stigma, promote early diagnosis, and advance research efforts for better treatments and therapies. It’s also a day for celebrating the resilience of individuals with AS and acknowledging the unwavering dedication of their families and caregivers.

International Angelman Day is a significant opportunity to honor individuals with Angelman syndrome and raise global awareness about this rare disorder. By coming together on this day, we can help spread knowledge, support families, and advocate for better care and research.

  • On Valentine’s Day, Kate Middleton and Prince William share a rare PDA moment on Instagram

On Valentine’s Day, Kate Middleton and Prince William share a rare PDA moment on Instagram

Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated Valentine’s Day by posting a picture of them sharing a romantic moment on social media.

The picture shared on Instagram was captioned with a single red heart emoji. In September 2024, the royal couple shared this picture while announcing that Kate, 43, has completed her chemotherapy.

In the picture shared, the couple can be seen holding hands near the woods while sitting on a brown blanket.

In August, Will Warr shot a three-minute video in Norfolk showing Kate and William with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, residing in their country home, Anmer Hall.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been more vocal with public displays of affection on social media since last year. Kate wished William on his birthday in June 2024. In a social media post, Kate wrote, “We all love you so much!”

On January 9, William posted a birthday message for Kate on her 43rd birthday.

“To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you… We love you,” he stated.

“William must feel so fortunate that Kate has come through this that he wants to tell the world about that love. It shows the intimacy of them sharing that journey together,” royal biographer Ingrid Seward told PEOPLE. “They are able to express themselves in a way they would never have done before,” he added.

However, Kate and William have refrained from showing public display of affection till last year.

Myka Meier, royal etiquette expert and founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette, earlier told PEOPLE, “There is no actual etiquette or royal protocol that says the couple must refrain from PDA.” Kate and William did not show public display of affection most likely as they are “working representatives of the British monarchy.”

He joined Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Charles Woodson and Reggie Bush, according to the Heisman website.

Smith, who was a member of Alabama’s undefeated team in 2020, is also the first Heisman winner to score a touchdown catch in the Super Bowl and the sixth to play in at least two championship games.

  • Rare wildlife spotted in Poland

    Rare wildlife spotted in Poland

Two unusual black wolves that are believed to be siblings, were caught on camera crossing a stream in a forest in Poland, according to a conservation organization.

The rare sighting, which was captured on video last year, has prompted the SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund Poland to retrieve scat droppings in the forest that the wolves were observed in, so scientists can learn more about the genetics of the black wolves.

The Associated Press reported that the video camera was set up by Joanna Toczydlowska, a project coordinator with the wildlife organization, to study beavers.

But she was surprised when she reviewed the recorded footage and saw wolves instead. She decided to leave the camera in place to learn more about the rare animals.

“It’s something new and unusual,” Toczydlowska told the wire service.

In one of the clips captured, a gray wolf and black wolf crossed a stream in the forest, though slowly as the water was nearly up to their bellies. Once near the other side, the two wolves jumped onto the bank before walking away.

In another clip recorded in the fall, two black wolves and a gray wolf were seen crossing the same stream.

The researchers would not disclose the location of the sightings, in order to protect the rare wolves.

In Poland, the majority of the nearly 3,000 wolves are gray with red or black accents.

The black fur is likely from a genetic mutation that occurred with domesticated dogs thousands of years ago.

In Europe, dark fur is rare, though in Yellowstone National Park in the United States, at least half of the wolf population has black fur.

Toczydlowska said the two black wolves were likely siblings and about a year old, which she hypothesized on the basis that wolves travel in families and the two were about 66 pounds. She also said at least one of the black wolves spotted was a male.

Wolves were nearly extinct in Poland by the 1950s, though the population has rebounded in recent years, particularly in the central part of the country.

Toczydlowska and her colleagues help educate the public on how to safely live in areas inhabited by packs of wolves.

  • Zelenskyy open to Trump’s trade proposal of rare earth minerals for military aid

Zelenskyy open to Trump’s trade proposal of rare earth minerals for military aid

President Donald Trump suggested Ukraine begin offering critical minerals to the U.S. in exchange for military aid, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy seemingly welcomed the idea.

“We’re putting in hundreds of billions of dollars. They have great rare earths. And I want security of the rare earth, and they’re willing to do (that),” Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday, in a sign that he may be open to continuing aid to the war-ravaged country.

Zelenskyy told reporters Tuesday that Ukraine was open to an “investment” from “partners who help us defend our land and push the enemy back with their weapons, their presence, and sanctions packages.”

“And this is absolutely fair,” he added.

Zelenskyy had been trying to develop the untapped resources, offering tax breaks and investment rights to outside entities looking to mine the minerals in 2021, before the start of the war. The Ukrainian leader pitched the mining of such minerals as part of the victory plan he drew up last year and pitched to U.S. lawmakers.

Ukraine has strategic reserves of titanium, lithium, graphite and uranium, but much of its critical minerals are in areas currently under occupation by Russia. Donetsk, Luhansk and Dnipropetrovsk are all some of the most mineral-rich regions, meaning Ukraine would need to take back territory to get them out.

Zelenskyy revealed Ukrainian leaders have had contact with U.S. officials, including Keith Kellogg, the U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, and are nailing down a time for them to visit.

“We have working dates when the American team will come. The dates and composition are being coordinated right now. We are waiting for the team and will work together,” Zelenskyy said.

Congress has approved around $175 billion in aid for Ukraine – consisting of military and economic assistance – since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.

Russia framed the Trump idea as proof the U.S. no longer wanted to give free aid to Ukraine – but suggested they’d rather the U.S. did not offer any aid to Ukraine.

“If we call things as they are, this is a proposal to buy help — in other words, not to give it unconditionally, or for some other reasons, but specifically to provide it on a commercial basis,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters Tuesday.

“It would be better, of course, for the assistance to not be provided at all, as that would contribute to the end of this conflict,” he added.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called Trump’s suggestion “very egotistic, very self-centered,” and said Ukraine would need its resources to finance postwar rebuilding.

Senate forces rare weekend vote to push through Kristi Noem as Homeland Security chief

The Senate will hold votes over the weekend to accelerate the confirmation of one of President Donald Trump’s key Cabinet nominees.

Lawmakers will meet for a rare Saturday session to hold a vote on whether to confirm South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security, to the top Cabinet position.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., indicated earlier in the week that the Senate would stay over the weekend to push through the confirmation process if Democrats blocked voting efforts.

“Do we want a vote on these folks on Tuesday or vote on them on Friday, Saturday and Sunday? Because that’s what we’re going to do,” Thune said after Democrats blocked a confirmation vote for Trump’s CIA director nominee, John Ratcliffe, who has bipartisan support. “This can be easy or this can be hard.”

“This is about America’s national security interests, and we’re stalling, so that’s not going to happen,” Thune said.

Noem was questioned by lawmakers on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee during her confirmation hearing earlier in the week.

January 25 Planet Parade Live Streaming: How To Watch ‘Six Planets Aligned’ Online? Check Out the Rare Celestial Event Dates and Other Details To Witness the Astronomical Conjunction

January 2025 has indeed turned out to be an exciting month, especially for astronomers and stargazers. The January night sky is offering us a spectacular celestial event with the alignment of six planets, which are Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars, Uranus, and Neptune. A planet parade, also called a planetary alignment or planet line-up, is not rare but not that common either, especially six planets aligning. The six planets have already aligned in the sky, four of which are visible to the naked eye and two which require the assistance of a telescope or binoculars. The planets, though millions of kilometres apart, appear to be aligned from our view point on Earth due to their position on the ecliptic plane. Planetary Parade 2025: 6 Planets To Align in the Sky Tonight, When and How To Watch Rare Celestial Event in India.

  • Black Moon or Solar Eclipse on 30 December 2024? All You Need To Know About the Rare New Moon That’s Not ‘Surya Grahan’

Black Moon or Solar Eclipse on 30 December 2024? All You Need To Know About the Rare New Moon That’s Not ‘Surya Grahan’

We come across celestial events almost every month, including some rare occurrences that do not happen every year. But, before the year 2024 ends, we will be treated to a special celestial event. A black moon, the second new moon in a single month, will take place in December 2024. This rare event does not occur every year. Just like how the term ‘blue moon’ is used to describe two full moons in a month, ‘black moon’ refers to two new moons in a month. While ‘black moon’ is not actually the official astronomical name, it is commonly used to describe this rare phenomenon. Like a regular new moon, the black moon will be invisible from Earth, but what makes it rare is that it is occurring twice in one month. Here’s all you need to know about it. December Cold Moon 2024: When Is the Best Time to View It? Margashirsha Purnima Time, Significance, Full Moon Alignment With Jupiter & Other Details to Know.

People across the globe are confusing the December 2024 new moon with a solar eclipse. However, the phenomena are not the same. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the sun, which will take place during this new moon.

    Black Moon 2024 Date

The rare phenomenon will take place in the Americas on December 30. In Asia, Africa, and Europe, it will take place on December 31.

    Black Moon 2024 Timing

As confirmed by the US Naval Observatory, the black moon will occur on December 30 at 05:27 PM ET, which is 03:57 AM IST on December 31.

Though this event is rare, it will not be visible in the sky. Like every new moon, the black moon also happens when the moon is between the Earth and the sun. The sunlit side of the moon faces away from Earth, making it hard to see. Geminid Meteor Shower 2024 Date and Time: Will It Be Visible in India? How to Watch the Dazzling Shooting Stars? Complete Details of the Celestial Spectacle Explained.

In the new year 2025, two solar eclipses and two lunar eclipses will occur, of which only one lunar eclipse will be visible in India. Like all new moon’s, the black moon on December 30 won’t be visible to the naked eye. However, since there will be a lack of moonlight, the sky will be darker, creating the perfect conditions to view the night sky. It will be a great time to see distant stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae, and other wonders of the sky.
