World Pangolin Day 2025 Date: Know History and Significance of the Day That Calls for Protection of These Ecologically Important Creatures

World Pangolin Day is an annual event that is observed on the third Saturday of February each year. This annual event aims to raise awareness about pangolins, the world’s most trafficked mammals. This year, World Pangolin Day 2025 falls on Saturday, February 15. Pangolins are unique, nocturnal mammals found in Africa and Asia. They are known for their ability to curl into a ball when threatened.

Their protective keratin scales make them distinct, but unfortunately, they have been a target for illegal wildlife trade due to the high demand for their scales and meat. In this article, let’s know more about the World Pangolin Day 2025 date, history and significance of the annual event.  February 2025 Holidays and Festivals Calendar: Get Full List of Major Events in the Second Month of the Year.

    World Pangolin Day 2025 Date

World Pangolin Day 2025 falls on Saturday, February 15.

    World Pangolin Day History

The first World Pangolin Day was celebrated in February 2012. The aim of World Pangolin Day is to draw as much attention to pangolins as possible since they are still relatively unknown outside of Africa and Asia. By spreading awareness on this annual event, the global community can come together and ensure the survival of these fascinating and ecologically important creatures.

    World Pangolin Day Significance

World Pangolin Day is an opportunity for pangolin lovers around the world to come together and raise awareness about these unique mammals and the plight they face. Unfortunately, pangolins are one of the most frequently encountered mammals in the illegal wildlife trade. This annual event serves as a call to action for conservation efforts, stronger anti-poaching laws, and public awareness to protect pangolins from extinction.

On this day, many organisations, including conservation groups and wildlife activists around the world, host events to educate people, advocate for bans on pangolin trafficking, and promote habitat protection.

  • Security expert gives insight on what Super Bowl protection, experience may be like with Trump’s attendance

Security expert gives insight on what Super Bowl protection, experience may be like with Trump’s attendance

President Donald Trump is expected to attend the Super Bowl on Sunday, which would mark the first time a sitting president attended the game.

The game is already a spectacle, but with Trump set to make an appearance, this contest will be on a whole other level than in years past.

With Trump’s expected attendance, this is now no ordinary event (it wasn’t one anyway), and those in attendance should expect a rather different experience, said Adam Gonzales, a former military service member who is the CEO of Hyperion Services.

Gonzalez was in charge of a six-man surveillance team while in the military, and then spent 10 years in a private military sector where he used to “call in airstrikes on the Taliban.” He then got into the private security space, “protecting ultra-high net worth individuals, celebrities, and rappers,” then hostage rescue space.

So, safe to say Gonzales is an expert on what it will take to protect Trump at the game – especially considering he was at the Army-Navy game in December with Trump in attendance.

“When President Trump came to that game, his protection detail shut down the stadium for an hour prior to his arrival. They shut down all gates, no one can leave, no one could come in, and then while he was coming in, for another hour, completely shut down. After he got in, another hour completely shut down,” Gonzales told Fox News Digital in a recent interview. “So that really kind of changes the environment quite a bit, at least from the average spectator coming into the gate.

“You’re really going to have to give yourself a lot of time, because the Secret Service will have that place locked down. It’s going to be a fortress for three hours.”

So, his advice? Get in early.

Gonzales has been to Army-Navy games while Trump was in attendance, but he said the protection for the 2024 edition was by far the biggest – likely because of the assassination attempts on his life last year.

“We could expect to see that again here at the Super Bowl, especially with the recent terror attack,” Gonzales noted.

The big game will come roughly six weeks after 14 people were killed on nearby Bourbon Street. However, Gonzales praised New Orleans police and said their quick action sent a message to those who even thought about making an attack at the Super Bowl.

Thus, Caesars Superdome may wind up being maybe the safest place to be on Sunday night.

“The New Orleans PD eliminated him on the spot, which sends a message to any other terrorist in the world who’s thinking ‘I want to disrupt the Super Bowl…’ So that actually kind of helps the security situation for the Super Bowl, because now the city of New Orleans is plussed up in ways that they weren’t for the New Year’s Eve celebration,” Gonzales said.

“So you’ve got local forces, you’ve got state forces, you’ve got all the federal forces, to include the Secret Service, and all the other government agencies that support behind the scenes. The FBI, all the intelligence agencies, everyone’s gathering intel on everything that might be happening underground that no one’s privy to on social media, in the dark web, and identifying these threats and dealing with these threats before they actually become threats. But if they do become threats on that day, you can guarantee that those law enforcement agencies will eliminate that threat super fast.

“Not to mention all the private security details. You’ve got private security details that are going to be there like the one for Taylor Swift and all the other ultra-high net worth individuals who are gonna be in attendance are likely gonna have some sort of small security detail that’s probably gonna be armed as well. So there’s a lot of eyes out, a lot of coverage, a lot of security that will help protect the Super Bowl and all the people in attendance, essentially by virtue of just association with the event.”

‘Power grab’: Jeffries unveils data protection bill amid DOGE crackdown

House Democrats unveiled legislation on Thursday that seeks to secure the personal data of Americans amid the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) spending sweep.

House Democrats unveiled the Taxpayer Data Protection Act to “shield the American people from this out-of-control power grab, permanently, and make sure that the financial, personal, medical, and confidential information of the American people is protected.”

Musk and his team at DOGE have spent the past two weeks going into various government departments and identifying “wasteful” spending where cuts can be made.

Musk was recently granted access to the Treasury Department, which manages federal finances and taxes, where he has “read only” access to the government’s payment system, a Treasury Department official told members of Congress on Tuesday.

Democrats have vocally opposed the sweep, suggesting during a press conference on Thursday that Musk is gaining access to the personal access of Americans and introducing legislation to circumvent any efforts.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., claimed that Republicans are “working for Elon Musk and doing the bidding of an unelected, unaccountable, out of control billionaire puppet master.”

“Why does Elon Musk and his minions need access to the names, Social Security numbers, addresses, and birthdates of millions of Americans?” Jeffries asked.

“What are they doing with that information, and why aren’t House Republicans stopping them?” Jeffries said, adding that a Senate companion bill is expected to be introduced shortly.

Amid Democratic opposition to the spending sweep, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended Musk and DOGE.

“Elon Musk is the greatest entrepreneur of this generation,” Bessent told FOX Business host Larry Kudlow. “DOGE is not going to fail. They are moving a lot of people’s cheese here in the capital, and when you hear this squawking, then some status quo interest is not happy.”

  • Tom Brady says QBs who scramble ‘should lose their protection’ amid Patrick Mahomes controversy

Tom Brady says QBs who scramble ‘should lose their protection’ amid Patrick Mahomes controversy

Tom Brady is the latest person to enter the discussion regarding the officiating calls surrounding Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Brady, 47, talked about how it should be the quarterback’s responsibility to protect himself.

“When quarterbacks become running backs, and they’re out of the pocket, they should lose their protection,” Brady said during a recent appearance on FOX Sports’ “The Herd.”

“We’re trying to protect the quarterbacks, but coaches are calling more quarterback runs than ever in the history of the game. So, who is protecting the quarterback? We’re trying to say the referees should do it?”

Mahomes was the beneficiary of two calls in the Chiefs’ 23-14 win over the Houston Texans.

Texans’ star defensive end Will Anderson Jr. was flagged for a roughing the passer penalty for hitting Mahomes up toward the head area while throwing a pass, but what Brady seems to be alluding to is the penalty Mahomes received in the third quarter.

Mahomes was scrambling in the third quarter, and as he slid, was hit by two Texans defenders near the head area as he was going down.

Texans linebacker Henry To’oTo’o was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play.

There was another play in the fourth quarter when Mahomes seemed to embellish contact along the sidelines in hopes of generating another flag, but the referees did not call a penalty.

“The reality for me is offensive players need to protect themselves. If they’re running full speed and the defender’s coming up — the only way to turn the ball over is to create force. You’re not going to blow on the football and knock its way out of a running back’s hands or a quarterback’s hands,” Brady said.

“You’ve gotta go there with force and knock it out. You’re trying to create turnovers. You’re trying to disrupt the passer. You’re trying to dislodge the ball. The only way to do that is with force. There needs to be an aggressiveness to doing that.”

Brady said that defenders playing scared of being penalized is a disservice to the game.

“If you don’t wanna get hit, you can go down, you can run out of bounds,” Brady said. “But you can’t, in essence, have the defensive player come in at half speed, and then you run over the defensive player because he’s afraid of getting a penalty. It’s a disservice to the game. It’s something that I’d hope people really address. Not that anyone’s trying to take advantage of the rules, but they’ve gone to a point where it does impact the quality of the game.”

When Mahomes’ Chiefs play the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., there will certainly be extra attention paid to Mahomes and the referees.

  • Pro-lifers pounce on Fetterman for opposing ‘Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act’: ‘Infanticide’

Pro-lifers pounce on Fetterman for opposing ‘Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act’: ‘Infanticide’

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., and all other Senate Democrats blocked the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” from advancing in the chamber on Wednesday.

The measure would require health care practitioners to seek to save the life of a baby born during an attempted abortion, and ensure that the infant is hospitalized.

“I’ve always stood on the side of Roe and a woman’s right to make her own health care choices. It’s absurd to mandate criminalization because of those choices. Any bill that does so, including the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act, is a NO from me,” Fetterman declared in a post on X.

In a 52-47 party-line vote, 52 Republicans voted to proceed, while 45 Democrats and the two independent senators aligned with the Senate Democratic Caucus voted to block the bill from moving toward a vote.

The text of the measure stipulates that healthcare providers present when a baby is born alive amid an attempted abortion must “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age” and then “ensure that the child born alive is immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.”

The measure explicitly precludes prosecution of the child’s mother.

“The mother of a child born alive described under subsection (a) may not be prosecuted for a violation of this section, an attempt to violate this section, a conspiracy to violate this section, or an offense under section 3 or 4 of this title based on such a violation,” the text of the legislation reads.

    Pro-lifers decried Fetterman’s position.

“You just voted against medical care for a crying infant, begging for help, struggling to survive after a failed abortion. You have believed the leftist lie that killing babies – in this case now a BORN baby struggling for his life – is ever acceptable. Pure evil,” Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action, declared in a tweet.
