The White House is expecting a “spike” in federal resignations ahead of a Thursday deadline for a buyout offer, Fox News Digital has learned.

Nearly all federal employees were offered a buyout as part of President Donald Trump’s plan for government employees to physically work out of their offices, following years of remote work stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Government employees have until Thursday to take the offer, with the Trump administration expecting an influx of resignations in the next two days.

“The number of deferred resignations is rapidly growing, and we’re expecting the largest spike 24 to 48 hours before the deadline,” a White House official told Fox News Digital on Tuesday morning…Read more

    Workers on Leave

Dozens of senior officials in the U.S. agency that administers foreign aid were reportedly placed on leave Monday amid an investigation into alleged resistance to President Donald Trump’s orders.

At least 56 U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) officials were placed on administrative leave with full pay and benefits, Politico first reported. Several hundred contractors based in Washington and elsewhere were also laid off, a current and a former official told the Associated Press.

These actions come after Secretary of State Marco Rubio, acting on Trump’s executive order, paused all U.S. foreign assistance funded by or through the State Department and USAID. • Ecstatic House Republicans cry unity after Trump speech in Miami: ‘Made politics fun again’

Ecstatic House Republicans cry unity after Trump speech in Miami: ‘Made politics fun again’

DORAL, Fla. — House Republicans were brimming with optimism after President Donald Trump’s speech at their annual retreat on Monday evening, where the new commander-in-chief detailed his policy goals for a busy first 100 days of the new administration.

Trump’s speech, which ran just over an hour, covered a wide range of issues, from post-election unity to his wishlist for Republicans’ conservative policy overhaul via the budget reconciliation process.

“It was fun, you know? I mean, if you’re a Republican, Trump made politics fun again,” House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., told Fox News Digital. “I mean, it’s been an extraordinary week. There’s a blizzard of executive orders and actions. It’s actually pushed Congress on some action.”

Rep. Mike Haridopolos, R-Fla., a first-term member of Congress, was buoyant when approached by Fox News Digital on the first night of his first House GOP issues conference, an annual Republican event.

TRUMP’S FEDERAL DEI PURGE PUTS HUNDREDS ON LEAVE, NIXES $420M IN CONTRACTS

President Donald Trump spoke to Republicans for just over an hour on Monday night (Evan Vucci/AP)

“This is exactly why we ran for office, to turn around this country as quickly as possible. And that the president was in full form tonight. And I’m so excited to be a part of this change,” Haridopolos said. “You could feel the energy in the room, and I think people are very excited to get this agenda through, and more importantly, see the results.”

It comes as Republicans negotiate on how to use their razor-thin majorities in the House and Senate to pass massive conservative policy changes through budget reconciliation.

By reducing the threshold for Senate passage from 60 votes to a 51-seat simple majority, reconciliation allows a party in control of both congressional chambers to enact sweeping changes, provided they’re relevant to budgetary and fiscal policy.

There has been some disagreement for weeks over how to package the GOP’s priorities, however. Senate Republicans have pushed for breaking the package up into two bills in order to score early victories on border security and energy policy, while leaving the more complex issue of tax reform for a second bill.

House Republican leaders, however, are concerned that the heavy political lift that passing a reconciliation bill entails would mean lawmakers run out of time before they can extend Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, which expire at the end of this year.

Trump, who previously said he favors “one big, beautiful bill,” was noncommittal on the strategy during his speech.

“Whether it’s one bill, two bills, I don’t care,” he said.

    Tom Cole

House Appropriations Committee Chair Tom Cole said Trump “made politics fun again” (Getty Images)

He was more specific about what policies he wanted to see passed, however, including more funding for border security, permanently extending his 2017 tax cuts, and ending taxation for tips, Social Security benefits, and overtime pay. Trump also has vowed to end green energy policies in favor of bolstering the fossil fuel sector.

Cole said he was concerned about the increase in federal spending that some of Trump’s specific policy goals would entail, but conceded the president was likely speaking in generalities.

“I think Trump, when he thinks about these things, he’s thinking about just the average person and what a burden it is on them,” Cole said.

Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., one of three House Republicans who won in a district that voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris in November, praised Trump’s speech as “unifying” but shared concerns with Trump’s broad-brush approach.

‘NO BETTER DEALMAKER’: TRUMP REPORTEDLY CONSIDERING EXECUTIVE ORDER TO ‘SAVE’ TIKTOK

“I thought that message is pretty unifying. I do. I think sometimes the execution gets all messy,” Bacon said.

“While I was in there, I had a businessman from Omaha that does wind energy, and he’s worried about what that means. So I think it…could be a little more targeted. Sometimes I think people on the periphery are scared that their business will be impacted.”

But National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Richard Hudson, R-N.C., who is tasked with leading Republicans through the 2026 midterm elections, said leaders would hash out specifics as needed while crediting Trump with bringing the GOP together.

“We’ll see how the details shake out in these couple of days. But what I thought was great is he kept coming back to his theme – if all Republicans stick together, we can be successful. And I thought that was a good message for all members,” Hudson said.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., meanwhile, said she was “very happy to hear” Trump call for a lower tax rate for new domestic manufacturing, particularly in relation to pharmaceuticals.

It’s an issue she hopes Republicans will tackle in their reconciliation process.

“It was important that President Trump stressed unity as we enter the timeframe for drafting and passing reconciliation, extending the tax package,” Malliotakis said.

And Rep. Nathaniel Moran, R-Texas, also praised Trump’s speech while dismissing concerns about his lack of commitment toward a one or two reconciliation bill strategy.

“He’s a results-oriented guy, and we all know that. And what we need to do is whatever is necessary to get the results for the American people and put his policies in place,” Moran said.

    Hegseth Takes Command

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth arrived for his first day at the Pentagon on Monday with a message regarding the Department of Defense’s (DOD’s) mission.

Greeted by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. and a gaggle of reporters, Hegseth said it was “an honor to serve on behalf of the president and serve on behalf of the country,” adding, “The warfighters are ready to go.”

Hegseth quickly turned to the border crisis, acknowledging how President Donald Trump was “hitting the ground running” with executive orders declaring an emergency at the southern border and designating cartels foreign terrorist organizations. Hegseth said the DOD “snapped to” last week in sending more troops to aid in erecting barriers along the southern border, as well as to “ensure mass deportations,” adding: “That is something the Defense Department absolutely will continue to do.”…Read more

  • Mauricio Umansky: ‘Put politics aside and get Los Angeles rebuilt’

Mauricio Umansky: ‘Put politics aside and get Los Angeles rebuilt’

Real estate mogul Mauricio Umansky said officials in California need to work with the federal government in order to help people in areas devastated by wildfires rebuild, and that this is not the time to fight with President Trump.

“This is the time to put politics aside and get Los Angeles rebuilt,” Umansky told FOX Business. “This is not the time for our state government to be political and . . . start being against Trump.”

Umansky’s luxury real estate company, The Agency, represents a portfolio of homes and properties for sale around the world. However, many of its clients are within the areas hardest hit by the wildfires that ignited earlier this month across Los Angeles County.

TRUMP WANTS TO FIX THE HOUSING AFFORDABILITY CRISIS: WHAT IT WILL TAKE

Umansky said the situation is dire for families who have lost everything.

His agents, some of whom have lost their own homes, have been working around the clock to find everyone a place to go. But it’s been far from easy.

“One of the most difficult things is that there’s 10 applicants for every one house, and so nine get rejected,” he said. “When you think about that, and these are all people who lost their homes, so . . . their depression is insane.”

Umansky said people are relocating around the city, and that many of them want to stay close to home. However, there are a slew of others who are going up north or leaving the state.

“We’ve displaced thousands and thousands of people. And so it’s going to be very difficult,” he said.

Umansky said it’s still too early to understand what things will look like in regard to how people are going to rebuild, but he knows governments on the state and federal levels are going to need to work together to do it.

“We’re looking for answers. I don’t think that the government has done a good-enough job alerting people in terms of what things are going to look like,” he said, adding that residents are still struggling to understand how they are going to get insurance.

Firefighters have been battling destructive Southern California blazes for weeks, and more keep igniting.

They need to get their egos aside, the politics aside,” he said. “We’re going to need federal money. We’re going to need state money.

    – Mauricio Umansky

The Hughes Fire, which was first reported on Wednesday morning, was located in the unincorporated community of Castaic in northwestern Los Angeles County. It quickly spread due to aggressive winds that have plagued firefighting efforts.

Since the wildfires began on Jan. 7, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Trump have been at odds. Newsom has faced sharp criticism over the state’s response to the Los Angeles fires. The California governor embraced Trump on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday after the president stepped off Air Force One.

Newsom has also denounced Trump’s criticism, telling NBC News’ “Meet The Press” earlier this month that “Mis- and disinformation don’t help any of us.” Meanwhile, Trump, a longtime critic of California’s government, recently lashed out, going as far as suggesting that California might not receive federal aid unless it changes certain policies, including its water management.

While Newsom signed a relief package providing $2.5 billion for recovery efforts as fires continue to sweep across parts of Southern California, Umansky said there is “no question,” that the state is going to need federal assistance, too.

“They need to get their egos aside, the politics aside,” he said. “We’re going to need federal money. We’re going to need state money.”

The state must not fight Trump, he said.

“When I say not fight him, I mean . . . he’s going to have ideas. We’re going to need the federal government’s help. Like, there’s no question about that,” he said.

    DEI by Another Name

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has been accused of allegedly quietly changing the job title of its former diversity officer as President Donald Trump ordered all federal diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) employees be placed on paid leave.

“The ATF defied @realDonaldTrump’s order to place DEI workers on leave, instead giving their DEI officer a new title. They attack citizens’ rights, ignore leadership, and act as though they’re above the law. Enough is enough. Time to abolish the ATF!” Republican Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison posted to X.

The ATF, a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Justice’s umbrella, previously employed Lisa T. Boykin as its chief diversity officer before her title was changed on the ATF’s website this week to “senior executive” with the ATF. An archived link of the ATF’s website reviewed by Fox Digital shows Boykin was listed as the chief diversity officer as recently as Tuesday — Trump’s second day in the Oval Office — and now shows her as working as the agency’s “senior executive.”…Read more
