Deion Sanders’ son likens himself Trump when discussing people who ‘always just try to destroy you’

The Sanders family is in the football limelight, and for very good reason.

Shedeur Sanders may very well be the first selection in this year’s NFL Draft just as his father, Deion, has put the Colorado football program on the map as the team’s head coach.

After a successful season, Deion’s name has been floated around the NFL rumor mill, perhaps not coincidentally, as his son will go pro in about three months.

Shedeur’s brother, Shilo, isn’t as highly touted as the others in his family, but he was still at the Senior Bowl this week to give scouts another look.

Well, the practices didn’t go great for him, as several video clips of him getting beat went viral.

Shilo was asked about those videos, and then he compared himself to President Donald Trump.

“If you just hate me, or you want to hate me . . . paint me in a bad picture, they do that to our President, they do that to everybody, you know. So I’m not going to be safe from it,” Sanders said. “But it does get aggravating whenever you’re putting in work, and you’re working on your craft and people are just steadily destroying you.”

“I just care about what the scouts think, I care about what Coach Prime thinks and my family thinks,” he added. “And I’ve got a good circle around me, so I really don’t let that stuff affect me. It’s just really stupid, though, how people always just try to destroy you, and I don’t do nothing bad to nobody.”

The actual Senior Bowl itself was a better showing for Shilo. Although his West team lost, 25-0, he finished with five tackles and a pass breakup.

At around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday the St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard responded to a report of a drifting vessel off the coast of Nevis. The partially submerged boat contained decomposed human remains. It was towed to St. Kitts, where police and medical officials are conducting investigations.

“It was a fishing vessel, which is not typically found in the Caribbean,” Police Commissioner James Sutton told The Associated Press. “We are not certain, but we believe that this vessel originated off the West African coast.”

Sutton said officials now face the difficult task of determining the exact number of bodies and identifying them. The advanced state of decomposition, he said, has made it difficult.

‘You frighten people’: Top 5 most memorable moments from Wednesday’s Trump nominee hearings

The latest confirmation hearings for President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees were packed with fiery exchanges with lawmakers, interruptions from protesters, and tearjerking testimonies that came as the Senate works to fill out the president’s administration.

Several candidates under consideration to head key positions in the Trump administration were grilled by lawmakers during their Senate confirmation hearings on Wednesday.

The hearings were off to a fiery start with the Senate Finance Committee’s questioning of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s nominee for secretary of Health and Human Services. The Senate also held confirmation hearings for Howard Lutnick, Trump’s longtime friend, who he picked to head the Department of Commerce, and Kelly Loeffler, who is being considered to lead the Small Business Administration (SBA).

    1. Democratic senator to RFK Jr.: ‘You frighten people’

During the heated confirmation hearing of Kennedy, Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., told the Trump nominee that he frightens people, specifically referring to his stance on vaccines.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President Donald Trump’s choice to be Secretary of Health and Human Services, appears before the Senate Finance Committee for his confirmation hearing at the Capitol in Washington, Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025. (J. Scott Applewhite)

Americans are going to need to hear a clear and trustworthy recantation of what you have said on vaccinations, including a promise from you never to say vaccines aren’t medically safe when they, in fact, are, and making indisputably clear that you support mandatory vaccinations against diseases that will keep people safe,” Whitehouse said during the hearing. “You’re in that hole pretty deep.”

Whitehouse then referenced a recent measles outbreak in Rhode Island as he pressed Kennedy on his vaccine stance.

“Frankly, you frighten people,” Whitehouse told the Trump nominee.

However, Kennedy pushed back on the claims that he is anti-vaccine, noting that all his children are vaccinated.

    2. Protesters disrupt RFK Jr. hearing

Kennedy’s Senate confirmation hearing was disrupted by several protesters who snuck into the Senate Finance Committee hearing room.

After Kennedy told lawmakers that he is not against vaccines, one protester stood up and was heard shouting, “You lie.”

    3. Lutnick gets emotional talking about brother’s tragic 9/11 death

Howard Lutnick, who was introduced by Vice President JD Vance, shared an emotional story about his brother being tragically killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City.

Lutnick’s brother, Gary, was tragically killed while working at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, along with 657 of the Lutnick brothers’ friends at their financial firm, Cantor Fitzgerald, the commerce nominee described during the hearing.

Lutnick said that he took his son to kindergarten that day, sparing his life.

“The company was located on the top five floors of the World Trade Center. I still can’t say it without being emotional, sorry, but no one in the office survived,” he said on Wednesday, appearing to hold back tears.

“I made the decision that I’ve made enough money in my life,” Lutnick said. “I can take care of myself. I can take care of my family. It is now my chance to serve the American people.”

    4. RFK Jr. refutes claim he compared CDC to ‘Nazi death camps’

Kennedy and Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., went back and forth after the Democratic senator claimed the Trump nominee previously likened the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to “Nazi death camps.”

    Sen. Raphael Warnock

“You compared the CDC work to Nazi death camps. You’ve compared it to sexual abusers in the Catholic Church. You’ve also said that many of them, as in the direct quote, belong in jail,” Warnock said during the hearing on Wednesday.

Asked if he stands by the statements, Kennedy refuted the claim.

“I don’t believe that I ever compared the CDC to Nazi death camps. I support the CDC. My job is not to dismantle or harm the CDC. My job is to empower the scientists,” Kennedy said. “I never said it.”

Warnock read a transcript of Kennedy’s remarks at a conference making the reference, but the HHS nominee further defended the intent of his statement.

“I was comparing the injury rate of children towards other atrocities,” Kennedy said. “I wouldn’t compare the CDC to Nazi death camps.”

    5. SBA defends Trump after senator claims he ‘acted illegally twice’ this week

SBA pick Kelly Loeffler got into a heated exchange with a member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee while defending Trump against Democratic claims that he “acted illegally” twice in the past week.

“The president has already acted illegally twice in the last 5 days. He fired the inspectors general. That was illegal, under the law. He froze all funding on Monday night. That was also against the law,” Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts claimed during his questioning of Loeffler.

“So it’s not as though he won’t ask you to do something that is illegal and unconstitutional, he’s been doing it all week. And this is the first week,” he added.

However, Loeffler immediately came to the defense of Trump and doubled down on her support of the president’s recent actions.

“If I could just, for the record, note that these were not illegal actions,” Loeffler told the committee. “I support the president’s actions. It’s in his right to select members of the executive branch, that’s what he’s doing. And he’s certainly in the right to stop wastefully spending as most presidents do when they come in to pause wasteful spending.”

Passenger plane catches fire at South Korean airport. All 176 people on board are evacuated

A passenger plane caught fire before takeoff at an airport in South Korea late Tuesday, but all 176 people on board were safely evacuated, authorities said.

The Airbus plane operated by South Korean airline Air Busan was preparing to leave for Hong Kong when its rear parts caught fire at Gimhae International Airport in the southeast, the Transport Ministry said in a statement.

The plane’s 169 passengers, six crewmembers and one engineer were evacuated using an escape slide, the ministry said.

The National Fire Agency said in a release that three people suffered minor injuries during the evacuation. The fire agency said the fire was completely put out at 11:31 p.m., about one hour after it deployed firefighters and fire trucks at the scene.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known. The Transport Ministry said the plane is an A321 model.

Tuesday’s incident came a month after a Jeju Air passenger plane crashed at Muan International Airport in southern South Korea, killing all but two of the 181 people on board. It was one of the deadliest disasters in South Korea’s aviation history.

The Boeing 737-800 skidded off the airport’s runaway on Dec. 29 after its landing gear failed to deploy, slamming into a concrete structure and bursting into flames. The flight was returning from Bangkok and all of the victims were South Koreans except for two Thai nationals.

The first report on the crash released Monday said authorities have confirmed traces of bird strikes in the plane’s engines, though officials haven’t determined the cause of the accident.

Trump’s first presidential trip shows his ‘man of the people’ cred after Ohio ‘turning point,’ WH spox says

In her first White House press conference from the James Brady Briefing Room at the White House, Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump’s first presidential trip showed why he is a “man of the people” president.

Leavitt suggested Trump’s visit to Hurricane Helene-ravaged parts of the Great Smoky Mountains and wildfire-torched areas of southern California were a predictable start to a second presidency that was, in part, inspired by a previous trip to visit “forgotten” Americans dealing with tragedy.

“President Trump still talks about his visit to East Palestine, Ohio. That was one of the turning points, I would say, in the previous election campaign where Americans were reminded that President Trump is a man of the people and he, as a candidate, visited that town that was just derailed by the train derailment, no pun intended,” Leavitt said.

Trump visited Columbiana County, Ohio, in the wake of the 2023 caustic crisis, and handed out Trump Water and other supplies, while meeting with residents and local leaders.

“He offered support and hope, just like I saw the president do this past week [in North Carolina and California]. It was a purposeful decision by this president on his first domestic trip to go to North Carolina and to California to visit with Americans who were impacted by Hurricane Helene and also by the deadly fires…” Leavitt added.

“[A] red state and a blue state.”

Leavitt said Californians and North Carolinians in the affected areas feel forgotten by the Biden administration, adding Trump will continue to “put Americans first,” whether they voted for him or not.

‘Yellowstone’ and ‘1923’ spark cowboy core travel trend, ‘people are flocking to the great outdoors’

With the “Yellowstone” finale being the most-watched episode in the show’s history, and “1923” releasing its second season in February, the hit Western franchise has sparked a new interest in cowboy core travel, according to experts.

Fans of the show have flocked to Montana and Wyoming since its release in 2018, but travel trends seemed to have picked up after “Yellowstone” concluded its fifth season after a two-year hiatus.

“We always see an increase in interest to Wyoming and Montana when the show, or any of the spin-offs, drop new episodes,” Matt Appleby of Travelmation told Fox Business.

“Fans want to become a part of what they are seeing on their screens, and they book vacations seeking adventure and solitude. When you watch ‘Yellowstone’, you can’t help but dream about immersing yourself in nature and riding a horse on a ranch in the wilderness,” he continued.

“These shows have been so wonderful for our national parks. People are flocking to the great outdoors, and many travel companies are taking notice,” Appleby said. “There are places that will curate a unique experience involving adventure and even high-class dining for the cowboy foodies.”

In 2023, Lucy Beighle, director of communications for Glacier Country Tourism, told the Washington Post that the Western Montana region, where seasons four and five of “Yellowstone” were filmed, has seen an increase in travel.

“We always see an increase in interest to Wyoming and Montana when the show, or any of the spin-offs, drop new episodes.”

    – Matt Appleyby, Travelmation advisor

“We definitely have seen an uptick in interest because of ‘Yellowstone,’” Beighle said. “If Montana wasn’t already on the map, and if people have seen ‘Yellowstone,’ it certainly is now.”

The Washington Post reported that the Bureau of Business and Economic Research and the Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research at the University of Montana issued a study that found “Yellowstone” fans spent $730 million on tourism in 2021.

According to the study, two million people credited the Taylor Sheridan series as their reason for visiting Montana.

“It shows how beautiful Montana is. And we hope to preserve that as stewards. That’s really important to us,” she noted.

“My friends from back East watch it religiously. And they tell me, ‘It looks so magical and majestic. It’s just wide-open spaces,’” she told the outlet. “I think that’s what people are craving right now. Montana gives you that.”

Carole Amos, a travel advisor for Travelmation, told Fox Business that “dude ranches” are drawing visitors to Montana and Wyoming so they can receive the “American frontier” experience.

“A dude ranch is one of the few places where you go completely off the grid and immerse yourself in America’s frontier. You can go horseback riding, fishing or square dancing, compete in a rodeo, herd cows and even learn how to shoot a gun if that interests you.

“I especially love a breakfast or lunch ride where you hop on a horse and head to the top of a mountain for a meal with an unforgettable view. You can also just sit on your cabin porch and take in the stunning scenery, which you can’t experience anywhere else,” she continued.

3 people charged with selling forged Jason Kelce memorabilia

Three adults have been charged with forgery, theft and other charges related to selling fake Jason Kelce-signed memorabilia.

Robert Capone, LeeAnn Branco and Joseph Parenti allegedly forged Kelce’s signature on more than 1,100 memorabilia items that were valued at least $200,000 total.

Jerseys, mini-helmets, hats, photos, footballs and other items were sold by Capone’s Overtime Promotions and Parent’s Diamond Legends after being verified by Branco, an employee of Beckett Authentication Services, documents say.

Kelce himself appeared at a signing event on June 11 at the Valley Forge Casino Hotel near Philadelphia, where Kelce played 13 seasons with the Eagles. Branco took a photo of Kelce to make the items seem more legitimate.

The police were notified by a Pennsylvania-based memorabilia company that had been in contact with Kelce to sign the items.

“The investigation found that Capone, Parenti and Branco conspired to use Branco’s Beckett Authentication Services credentials to create counterfeit autographed sport memorabilia and then offered it for sale as authentically contracted-for products signed by Kelce,” authorities said in a press release.
