OpenAI announces US National Laboratories partnership, plans to support work on nuclear security and more

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has announced an agreement to collaborate with U.S. National Laboratories, indicating that it plans to assist in various fields, including nuclear security.

The company plans to deploy its AI on a supercomputer.

“Under this agreement, OpenAI will work with Microsoft and will deploy o1 or another o-series model on Venado, an NVIDIA supercomputer at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) where it will be a shared resource for researchers from Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore, and Sandia National Labs,” OpenAI noted.

OpenAI suggested its models will be leveraged in various areas of research.

The company said its models will be used in “Accelerating the basic science that underpins U.S. global technological leadership,” “Identifying new approaches to treating and preventing disease,” “Enhancing cybersecurity and protecting the American power grid,” “Achieving a new era of U.S. energy leadership by unlocking the full potential of natural resources and revolutionizing the nation’s energy infrastructure,” “Improving U.S. security through improved detection of natural and man-made threats, such as biology and cyber, before they emerge,” and “Deepening our understanding of the forces that govern the universe, from fundamental mathematics to high-energy physics.”

The company also indicated that it plans to supply support in the area of nuclear security.

“The Labs also lead a comprehensive program in nuclear security, focused on reducing the risk of nuclear war and securing nuclear materials and weapons worldwide. This use case is highly consequential, and we believe it is critical for OpenAI to support it as part of our commitment to national security. Our partnership will support this work, with careful and selective review of use cases and consultations on AI safety from OpenAI researchers with security clearances,” the organization noted.

OpenAI noted that the partnership “builds on our successful earlier collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory, where we worked closely with wet labs to assess the risks posed by the most advanced models in creating bioweapons (such as human-designed pandemics). We anticipate that this engagement will lead to broader safety collaborations across a variety of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) risks.”

  • Brandon Marshall’s ‘I Am Athlete’ aiming to push boundaries with new REVOLT Sports partnership

Brandon Marshall’s ‘I Am Athlete’ aiming to push boundaries with new REVOLT Sports partnership

Former All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been leading the charge in the athlete-drive media space since his playing days on the gridiron came to an end, and he is taking a groundbreaking step with his “I Am Athlete” platform with a new partnership looking to push boundaries in sports media.

REVOLT, the leading Black-owned multimedia platform, announced on Wednesday their new REVOLT Sports vertical, which is headlined by “I Am Athlete.”

Marshall spoke to FOX Business Digital about this new venture from his perspective with “I Am Athlete,” where he could not contain his excitement about how far the respective platforms can go for the culture by working together.

“What excites me about the partnership is what I can learn and how far we can go,” he explained. “The creative economy is one of the highest economies out there, so great market to invest in. It’s been through a lot over the last couple years, and it’s going to continue to go through a lot of changes. What I found being independent, almost like an artist, like a musician, sometimes you can go farther and be more efficient when you have the machine behind you.

“So, REVOLT gives us that machine. I’m excited about what they’re already doing with us through this partnership, and also what I’m learning. That’s the goal for a lot of us creators, is to own and participate in the upside.”

REVOLT Sports Weekly powered by “I Am Athlete” is the main component behind this partnership, which features Marshall alongside media personality and cultural commentator Kayla Nicole as co-host.

On the show, Marshall, Nicole, special guests and celebrity contributors do not just break down the latest in sports, but also culture – a main reason why Marshall knew this was the right “machine” to get behind.

“‘I Am Athlete’ lives at the intersection of hip-hop and sports,” Marshall said. “So, talking about things that are relevant to the culture – pop culture, whatever you have it – is just a general conversation that is natural to us. That’s what you’ll get from this show every single week. We’ll dive into the hottest topics in sports, and also the biggest stories in pop culture.”

Deon Graham, chief content officer at REVOLT, added, “Sports have always been synonymous with our culture, shaping our communities and reflecting some of the stories that matter most. With the launch of REVOLT Sports, we’re not just adding to the conversation – we’re redefining it, authentically. Partnering with ‘I Am Athlete’ allows us to create hundreds of hours of content that further connects sports, culture, and community like never before.”

REVOLT Sports Weekly’s first episode was a prime example of how this new partnership is looking to push boundaries when it comes to sports programming.

Joined by Marshall’s former UCF teammates, Josh “Beezo” Bellamy and Mike Sims-Walker, the panel discussed not only the NFL’s Championship Sunday matchups in the AFC and NFC, but they discussed whether celebrating rapper “Big Meech” with a “Welcome Back” party next month after spending 16 years in jail for drug trafficking and money laundering is right for the community.

The group also talked about the new Unrivaled women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, specifically the fashion statements that have been displayed by the WNBA stars in the groundbreaking league.

At the end of the day, this partnership aims to be raw and authentic – two pillars they were living by independently to begin with.

“I think you have to be raw and authentic to win in today’s landscape when you talk about media. That’s what people want,” Marshall said. “How you dress, how you talk, even the way the show is shot. We’re tired of over-produced content, over-produced conversations. So, that’s what is needed to separate yourselves in this space. So, for me, those are the only conversations I can participate in. I can’t sit down with people that I can’t learn from, that I can’t teach something to – conversations that aren’t impactful.

“It feels good to be in a place finally with a network and also just in today’s times where those conversations are embraced.”

Chevron, Engine No. 1, GE Vernova announce partnership to power us data centers

Oil giant Chevron and Engine No. 1, an activist fund, are partnering up to build a new company that will develop scalable, reliable power solutions for the U.S.-based data centers running on U.S. natural gas.

The merger, in conjunction with GE Vernova, aims to establish the first multi-gigawatt-scale co-located power plant and data center.

A press release from Chevron outlines that the projects will serve co-located data centers in the U.S. Southeast, Midwest and West regions. These developments will deliver the equivalent of power for more than 3 million homes.

Eli Manning reveals Knob Creek partnership ahead of Super Bowl

NFL legend and former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has teamed up with Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey brand Knob Creek to offer Super Bowl fans a limited-edition bottle ahead of game day on Feb. 9.

Manning, opposite Knob Creek’s master distillers Fred Noe and Freddie Noe, personally selected Eli Manning’s 2025 Bold Pick, a single barrel bourbon.

“I got to go down to Kentucky and handpick this bourbon,” Manning told FOX Business.

However, the whiskey aisle in your local stores will probably be bare of this booze as the release is exclusive to locations special to the Super Bowl champion himself — the New York Metro area where Manning played professionally, his hometown of New Orleans and sports hub Los Angeles.

The youngest Manning brother expressed his pleasure in collaborating with the Noe father-and-son duo to craft a unique flavor while diving deep into the history of the brand.

“It was an unbelievable experience,” Manning said.

Bold Pick is said to taste of toffee, honey, dark stone fruit with hints of dark chocolate and finish with spicy cinnamon, black pepper, brown sugar and espresso.

“It’s just perfect for celebrating the big moments and wins in your life,” Manning said.

Frigid weather conditions in the South, Midwest and East and Sunday football are the perfect excuse to stay inside and sip Bold Pick on the rocks, according to Manning.

Manning’s Bold Pick is “patiently aged for a minimum of nine years in American white oak barrels,” according to a Knob Creek press release provided to FOX Business.

The suggested retail price is $59.99.

Manning, with his older brother and former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, will return to the action-packed Pro Bowl as head coach again this year.

“It’s been a lot of fun coaching the Pro Bowl these last two years,” Manning said. “Especially beating Peyton these last two years.”

The two-time Super Bowl champion will coach the NFC contingent, while Peyton will team up with the AFC, aiming to end Eli’s winning streak on Feb. 2, a week before Super Bowl LIX.

“I know Peyton’s been studying,” Manning said. “He’s brought in experts on all these skills challenges to try to get some extra information.”

As for the Super Bowl, the Manning family will be together in New Orleans on game day, where they will stay with their parents.

“I don’t even have to get a hotel,” Manning said. “We’ll probably be on Bourbon Street, so it’s a good opportunity to drink a little Knob’s Creek bourbon as well.”
