  • USA, Canada hockey stars get into numerous fights in opening seconds of 4 Nations rivalry after anthem boos

USA, Canada hockey stars get into numerous fights in opening seconds of 4 Nations rivalry after anthem boos

Three fights commenced in the first nine seconds of the 4 Nations Face Off game between USA and Canada.

At the opening puck drop, USA’s Matthew Tkachuk and Brandon Hagel didn’t wait at all to get in on the action in what was a healthy scrap.

But just two seconds later, Matthew’s brother, Brady, went toe-to-toe with Sam Bennett, who is teammates with Matthew in the NHL on the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

However, that was not enough. After an opening rush into the Canada zone, a scrap involving just about everyone occurred, but J.T. Miller and Colton Parako got into a fight of their own.

It caused plenty of crowding in the penalty boxes, but cooler heads eventually prevailed.

The game is being played in Montreal, so the tensions in the crowd were already high – the “Star-Spangled Banner” was booed loudly despite previous pleas not to do so and “respect” the anthems.

Even NHL exec Bill Daly called it an “unfortunate situation” and hoped it would end – alas.

This is the first time since 2016 that the U.S. and Canada are on the ice in a best-on-best format since 2016 in the World Cup of Hockey, which will return in 2028 after a 12-year hiatus.

Both teams won their first games of the tournament, but the United States is ahead in the standings due to their win coming in regulation; Canada needed overtime to defeat Sweden on Thursday.

Canada got on the board first, with who else but Connor McDavid lighting the lamp roughly five-and-a-half minutes into the game. Jake Guenztel tied it up a few minutes later.

With a win, the Americans will clinch their spot into the one-game final on Saturday in Boston, which could very well come against this same Canada team.

  • In-N-Out relocating headquarters within California, opening office in Tennessee

In-N-Out relocating headquarters within California, opening office in Tennessee

In-N-Out said this week it is relocating its headquarters back to Baldwin Park in Los Angeles County to “bring its West Coast headquarters team back together under one roof.”

With that consolidation, the burger chain will close the corporate office it has maintained for decades in Irvine, a city southeast of Los Angeles in Orange County.

In-N-Out will close its Irvine office in 2029, the company said. More than 500 corporate employees work out of that office.

Harry and Esther Snyder founded the burger chain in Baldwin Park 77 years ago, so the move to shutter the Irvine office and move its headquarters in Baldwin Park will mark a return to the company’s origins.

The decision comes as In-N-Out is poised to debut a new 100,000-square-foot eastern territory office near Nashville late next year.

In-N-Out said a “majority” of its corporate team will be based out of Baldwin Park or the eastern territory office after its Irvine office closes its doors.

“Some of our associates will be relocating to Tennessee, which makes it even more important to centralize our western headquarters in one location, and our company’s deepest roots are in Baldwin Park. Our West Coast family will be together in one place, where In-N-Out Burger began,” owner Lynsi Snyder said in a statement.

The company unveiled plans for its eastern territory office near Nashville in early 2023.

“I’m proud to welcome In-N-Out Burger, an iconic American brand, to the Volunteer State,” Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said when In-N-Out announced its plans for the state. “Tennessee’s unmatched business climate, skilled workforce and central location make our state the ideal place for this family-run company to establish its first eastern United States hub.”

The company’s creation of a Nashville-area office involves a $125.5 million investment, the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development said in January 2023.

The company is also bringing its burger joints to Tennessee, with the first restaurants targeting openings next year.

  • More craft beer breweries are shutting down than opening up

More craft beer breweries are shutting down than opening up

For the first time, more craft beer breweries are shutting down than opening up.

Breweries and taprooms are dealing with rising supply costs while demand for beer is slipping, according to the Brewers Association.

Bart Watson is the president and chief executive officer of the Brewers Association. Watson said things got worse for many craft breweries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic obviously also had secondary ripples for the economy, for supply chains and it changed consumer patterns overall. We are seeing people certainly spend as much at bars and restaurants as they did before, but they are doing so in different ways – more to go and delivery.”

AMID CANCER CONCERNS, COULD MORE DRINKERS TURN TO NO- AND LOW-ALCOHOL DRINKS?

Even though Colorado has the fourth most breweries of any state, right behind Pennsylvania, New York, and California, it saw some of the highest number of closures last year, according to the National Brewer Association.

“Some of the most challenged regions are some of the most developed, like here in Colorado, the pacific northwest, the west coast in general,” Watson said.

Eagles’ Dallas Goedert admits Taylor Swift ‘ain’t on my playlist’ at Super Bowl LIX opening night

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert admitted on Monday during Super Bowl LIX’s opening night that Taylor Swift is not one of the artists on his playlist.

Swift is set to be a topic of conversation during the week with her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, competing for his fourth Super Bowl ring and his third straight. Goedert spoke about the pop star as Eagles players chatted with the media.

“Does she sing ‘Don’t go chasing waterfalls?’ She doesn’t? Man,” Goedert said in reference to the TLC hit. “She’s an incredible artist, but she ain’t on my playlist.”

There does not appear to be any “Bad Blood” between Goedert and the Chiefs, but the remark may roil Swifties who have delighted in Kelce being able to participate in the game again.

A lot of the pressure will be off of Swift this time around. The pop star was still on the “Eras Tour” when the Chiefs clinched a berth in the Super Bowl last year. She witnessed the team win the AFC Championship against the Baltimore Ravens but needed to head to Japan for the Asian leg of the tour. She still made it and watched Kansas City go back-to-back.

Swift was not at every Chiefs games this season but showed up when it mattered – the playoffs. She watched the Chiefs top the Houston Texans and narrowly overcome the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship.

  • Anti-Trump FBI agent responsible for opening Jack Smith elector case against president: Whistleblower

Anti-Trump FBI agent responsible for opening Jack Smith elector case against president: Whistleblower

EXCLUSIVE: WASHINGTON—A previously identified anti-Trump FBI agent allegedly broke protocol and played a critical role in opening and advancing the bureau’s original investigation related to the 2020 election, tying President Donald Trump to the probe without sufficient predication, whistleblower disclosures obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley revealed.

That investigation into Trump was formally opened at the FBI on April 13, 2022, and was known inside the bureau as “Arctic Frost,” Fox News Digital has learned.

EX-FBI OFFICIAL WHO SHUT DOWN HUNTER BIDEN LINES OF INVESTIGATION VIOLATED HATCH ACT WITH ANTI-TRUMP POSTS

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Ron Johnson shared internal FBI emails and predicating documents — legally protected whistleblower disclosures — exclusively with Fox News Digital.

The senators say the documents prove the genesis of the federal election interference case brought against Trump began at the hands of FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault.

Fox News Digital exclusively reported in 2024 that Thibault had been fired from the FBI after he violated the Hatch Act in his political posts on social media. Previous whistleblowers claimed that Thibault had shown a “pattern of active public partisanship,” which likely affected investigations involving Trump and Hunter Biden.

Grassley first publicly revealed the existence of the whistleblower disclosures during the Senate Judiciary Committee’s confirmation hearing for Trump’s nominee to serve as FBI director, Kash Patel, on Thursday.

(Umit Bektas)

One email, obtained and reviewed by Fox News Digital, revealed Thibault communicating with a subordinate agent on Feb. 14, 2022.

Thibault said: “Here is draft opening language we discussed,” and attached material that would later become part of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s elector case.

Another email, sent by Thibault on Feb. 24, 2022, to a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, John Crabb, states: “I had a discussion with the case team and we believe there to be predication to include former President of the United States Donald J. Trump as a predicated subject.”

Sources told Fox News Digital, though, that Thibault took the action to open the investigation and involve Trump, despite being unauthorized to open criminal investigations in his role — only special agents have the authority to open criminal investigations.

Another email, sent on the same day, notes that he would seek approval from Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray to open the case.

Next, an email on Feb. 25, 2022, sent by a subordinate agent, Michelle Ball, to Thibault states that they added Trump and others as a criminal subject to the case.

    Thibault responded: “Perfect.”

The fifth email, reviewed by Fox News Digital, reveals Thibault emailing a version of an investigative opening for approval. However, this email did not include Trump as a criminal subject.

The sixth email, from April 11, 2022, shows Thibault approving the opening of Arctic Frost, and the next email, on April 13, 2022, was from an FBI agent to Thibault stating that the FBI deputy director approved its opening.

Another email reviewed by Fox News Digital shows Thibault emailing DOJ official John Crabb notifying him that the elector case was approved.

Crabb responded, “Thanks a lot. Let’s talk next week.”

“Between March 22 and April 13, other versions of the document opening the investigation existed, because a ninth email shows that the FBI General Counsel’s office made edits on March 25,” Grassley said during Patel’s confirmation hearing Thursday. “Was Trump still removed as an investigative subject?  If so, which Justice Department and FBI officials – other than Jack Smith – later added him for prosecution?”

The email records appear to show that an official in the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section, Richard Pilger, reviewed and approved the FBI’s Arctic Frost investigation, authorizing DOJ to move forward with a full field criminal and grand jury investigation that ultimately transformed into Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Trump-elector case.

Grassley, in 2021, published a report which raised concerns regarding Pilger’s record at DOJ.

Fox News Digital first reported in July 2022 that Grassley warned Attorney General Merrick Garland that Thibault and Pilger were “deeply involved in the decisions to open and pursue election-related investigations against President Trump.”

GRASSLEY PRESSES DOJ, FBI FOR TRANSPARENCY ON ‘PARTISAN’ POLITICIZATION OF AGENCIES, HUNTER BIDEN PROBE

At the time, whistleblowers told Grassley that the Thibault-Pilger investigation’s predicating document was based on information from “liberal nonprofit American Oversight.”

In the investigation’s opening memo sent to the upper levels of the DOJ for approval, however, whistleblowers claimed Thibault and Pilger “removed or watered-down material connected to the aforementioned left-wing entities that existed in previous versions and recommended that a full investigation — not a preliminary investigation — be approved.”

Based on Smith’s scope memo, Grassley and Johnson, in 2022, wrote that the Thibault-Pilger investigation was included in the special counsel’s jurisdiction.

They also pointed out that Smith had a prior relationship with Pilger. Smith was in charge of the DOJ’s Public Integrity Unit while Pilger was in charge of the Election Crimes Branch.

Grassley and Johnson, in 2022, began sounding the alarm that Special Counsel Jack Smith was “overseeing an investigation that was allegedly defective in its initial steps and an investigation which his former subordinate [Pilger] was involved in opening.”

Former Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith, a former Justice Department official, as special counsel in November 2022.

Smith, a former assistant U.S. attorney and chief to the DOJ’s public integrity section, led the investigation into Trump’s retention of classified documents after leaving the White House and whether the former president obstructed the federal government’s investigation into the matter.

HOUSE WEAPONIZATION PANEL RELEASES 17,000-PAGE REPORT EXPOSING ‘TWO-TIERED SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT’

Smith also was tasked with overseeing the investigation into whether Trump or other officials and entities interfered with the peaceful transfer of power following the 2020 presidential election, including the certification of the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6, 2021.

Smith charged Trump in both cases, but Trump pleaded not guilty.

The classified records case was dismissed in July 2024 by U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Judge Aileen Cannon, who ruled that Smith was unlawfully appointed as special counsel.

Smith charged Trump in the U.S. District Court for Washington, D.C., in his 2020 election case, but after Trump was elected president, Smith sought to dismiss the case. Judge Tanya Chutkan granted that request.

Grassley, during the confirmation hearing on Thursday, said he is requesting “the production of all records on this matter to better understand the full fact pattern and whether other records exist.”

  • Delhi Police’s Happy New Year 2025 plan, ‘Opening performance by breathalyser…’

Delhi Police’s Happy New Year 2025 plan, ‘Opening performance by breathalyser…’

Happy New Year 2025: The Delhi Police has come up with by far the most innovative and quirky caution for New Year Eve celebrations. It includes a party plan wherein the opening performance would be by ‘breathalyser’.

Taking to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), Delhi Police shared a post captioned, “Who needs a countdown when you can count down the days until your release.”

Titled ‘Cell Block Party 2025’, the infographic goes on to describe the performances of the party.

The opening performances will be br Breathlyser, DJ Buckle Up, and DJ safety first. This will be followed by performances by “Defensive Drivers” band and more.

“If you spot someone who needs to party just dial 112 and let the good times roll”, the Delhi Police said.

The Delhi Police have implemented extensive security measures across the national capital, deploying nearly 20,000 police and paramilitary personnel to ensure a safe celebration.

Key areas in Delhi such as Connaught Place, Hauz Khas, and India Gate will see heightened police presence to manage large crowds expected to gather for the festivities.

To combat drunk driving, around 50 Delhi Police teams equipped with alcometers will monitor key locations throughout the city, senior officials told news agency PTI.

Traffic restrictions will be enforced near Connaught Place starting at 8 PM on December 31, with vehicles requiring special stickers to enter the area. Ten designated spots within Connaught Place will be off-limits to vehicles to manage congestion and enhance pedestrian safety. Additionally, police personnel will be stationed at 14 points around India Gate to prevent overcrowding and ensure smooth crowd movement during the celebrations.

Authorities are urging citizens to use public transport due to limited parking availability in popular celebration hotspots. With comprehensive arrangements in place, including surveillance teams and medical personnel ready to assist, the Delhi Police are committed to making New Year’s Eve celebrations enjoyable and secure for everyone.
