Super Bowl champ Nick Foles teases Tom Brady after Eagles’ latest triumph

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles got one final jab in as his former team routed the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night, 40-22.

Foles led the Eagles to a wild Super Bowl LII win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots at the end of the 2017 season. Foles had a miraculous run as he was thrust into the starting role for Carson Wentz and somehow got the team its first Super Bowl title.

Brady was on the FOX call for Super Bowl LIX and Foles made sure to remind the seven-time Super Bowl winner about one of his three losses in the big game.

“It’s really cool that Tom Brady got to be there for the Eagles’ two Super Bowl wins! He might be a good luck charm,” Foles wrote in a post on X. “Have a great night!”

Foles and the Eagles’ win over Brady and the Patriots that year was thought to have sparked a rivalry between the two quarterbacks.

In 2022, before Brady played his final NFL game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoff against the Eagles, he touched on his own competitiveness.

“I try to be a good sport as best as I can,” Brady said at the time, via ESPN. “I know it doesn’t always look like that because sometimes I get a little p—ed out there, but for the most part, I try to be a good sport.”

During Super Bowl week this year, Brady touched on how losses impact a player’s career more. He admitted that Eagles fans never let him live that Super Bowl loss down.

“Then, you go to 2007 and you lose. And then, you go to 2011, and you go to the Super Bowl after having a great team in 2010, and we lose. And it was just like, ‘Wow, this is way harder.’ We went 10 years between winning,” Brady said on “The Herd.” “And I said, you know what, these Super Bowl moments I get a chance to partake in, I’m going to exhaust every bit of energy I have for this week of games, because when you lose this game, this is on your resume forever.

“A loss in the Super Bowl matters more than any loss that you’re ever going to be a part of. When I go in Philly and (the fans) go ‘Philly Special, Philly Special’ and I’m at the Knicks game with my son and Spike Lee, I throw him a ball, and he catches it on his head like the ‘Helmet Catch’ – that was 17 years ago, and I’m still living that thing down.”

Eagles’ Nick Sirianni has message for Kellen Moore as coach is rumored to take the Saints’ job

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni expressed his desire for Kellen Moore to stay on his coaching staff amid rumors he was going to take the New Orleans Saints job.

All signs have indicated Moore will become the next Saints’ head coach as he was linked to the job in the days ahead of the Eagles’ 40-22 Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

As the Eagles celebrated their second Super Bowl title, Sirianni had a message for Moore.

“Let’s run this s— back,” Sirianni said as he talked to FOX’s Tom Rinaldi.

Moore had been a highly coveted coach a few coaching cycles ago but never landed a head-coaching job. He had been an offensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys for four years before he coached the Los Angeles Chargers last season.

As Jim Harbaugh took over head-coaching duties, Moore was out. He then joined Sirianni’s staff. The team was seventh in points scored and eighth in yards gained during the season.

Philadelphia rode the team’s offensive abilities throughout the season. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley brought the offensive explosion, with the running back nearly breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season record.

In the playoffs, the offense played at a high level as well on route to a Super Bowl win.

Moore is rumored to take the Saints job and will have a quarterback in Derek Carr to work with.

Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni praise God after winning Super Bowl LIX: ‘Thanks to Him’

Two of the biggest faces in Philadelphia both pointed to their faith after the Eagles earned a dominant win in Super Bowl LIX.

The Birds got their second Lombardi Trophy on Sunday night with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, stopping their quest for three Super Bowl trophies in a row.

FOX broadcaster Tom Rinaldi met with head coach Nick Sirianni shortly after the clock hit triple zeroes, and Sirianni gave credit to the Lord for the victory.

“God’s blessed us very much,” he said. “He gave us all the talents to be able to get here, so first and foremost, thanks to Him. … Thank God, thank you Jesus.”

During the trophy presentation, he said to Terry Bradshaw, “All glory to God.”

Darius Slay also thanked his “Lord and Savior” when speaking with the NFL Network after the game.

In speaking with Erin Andrews, Jalen Hurts, the game’s MVP, said, “God is good. He’s greater than all the highs and the lows.”

The Chiefs, one of the best offenses in the NFL this season, and a team that has obvious history in this game over the past two years, had just 34 total yards of offense in the first half as the Eagles defense was thriving against the offensive line.

Patrick Mahomes was never comfortable, and it showed as they punted their first three possessions. Mahomes threw two picks, one of which was taken to the house by rookie Cooper DeJean. The Eagles defense sacked Mahomes six times.

Eagles’ Jalen Hurts addresses infamous ‘straightjacket’ comment directed at coach Nick Sirianni

As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare to travel to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX, the team’s star quarterback is clearing the air. During last week’s postgame media availability, Jalen Hurts made a seemingly offhanded comment about Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.

Hurts said Nick Sirianni “let me out of my straitjacket” when asked about his strong performance during the NFC Championship game victory over the Washington Commanders and his overall experience playing for Sirianni.

“He’s done a great job. He’s done a great job. He let me out me out of my straightjacket a little bit today,” Hurts told reporters.

But on Friday, Hurts insisted that comment was merely a joke. “I was just joking around after the game,” Hurts told reporters.

During his media availability on Tuesday, Sirianni fielded questions about the “straightjacket” comment.

“I think he was having fun after the game We’ve been winning a couple different ways this year. … But I know this, and he’s said this plenty of times, he doesn’t care how we win, I don’t care how we win, as long as we win. And we do everything we can do to be able to win,” Sirianni said on Jan. 28 during the press conference.

“And as we’ve talked a lot, there have been different circumstances of how games have [gone] and where we’ve been at late in games. But we found a way to win and rattle off 15 out of 16. So, again, thought he was having fun with that after the game. And loved how he went out there and executed and prepared for this game.”

Throughout much of the 2023 season, Hurts and Sirianni reportedly navigated through a somewhat tense relationship. Last August, a report from ESPN cited a source with direct knowledge who described the last season’s dynamic between the coach and quarterback as “fractured.”

After starting the 2023 campaign with a 10-1 record, the Eagles went on to win just one of their final six games. Philadelphia subsequently suffered a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round. The early playoff exit came on the heels of the Eagles appearance in the Super Bowl the prior season.

However, the end of the 2024 regular season and the postseason have been vastly different for Philly. Sirianni, Hurts, and the Eagles were presented with the George Halas Trophy last Sunday after the team won the conference title and clinched a spot in Super Bowl LIX.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Eagles will meet in the big game on Feb. 9 at Caesars Superdome. Super Bowl LIX kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET with Kevin Burkhardt doing play-by-play and Tom Brady as the color commentator in his first Super Bowl as a broadcaster. Tubi will stream Super Bowl LIX on its platform live in 4K. Viewers will be able to watch the game when they sign up via email registration.

Tom Brady clears the air on feelings toward Super Bowl champ Nick Foles during Eagles NFC title win

The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Washington Commanders in this past Sunday’s NFC Championship game to earn a spot in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

Seven-time Super Bowl winner and FOX Sports broadcaster Tom Brady was in the broadcast booth at Lincoln Financial Field for the Eagles’ 55-23 victory.

At one point during the playoff game, television cameras panned to former Eagles quarterback and Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles, who was sitting in one of the stadium’s suites.

Spotting Foles in the crowd prompted Brady, who suffered one of his three career Super Bowl defeats to the Foles-led Eagles, to recall the infamous loss.

While Brady has appeared in a record 10 Super Bowls, Foles and Eli Manning are the only starting quarterbacks to have knocked off the decorated former NFL star in the big game.

Brady used Foles’ NFC title game appearance as an opportunity to admit he does not harbor any jealousy toward the former Eagles signal caller. “Nick, I don’t hate you. I’m just jealous of you. You caught it, I didn’t,” Brady said after FOX Sports lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt jokingly asked Brady if he knew who Foles competed against in the Super Bowl in February 2018.

Brady’s “you caught it” comment referenced the famous “Philly Special” trick play during Super Bowl LII. Foles lined up in the backfield on the play, before offensive lineman Jason Kelce snapped the ball to running back Corey Clement.

The running back then pitched the ball to tight end Trey Burton, who found Foles in the end zone for a one-yard touchdown. Foles wrote his name in history books by becoming the first player in Super Bowl history to throw and catch a touchdown pass in the NFL’s annual championship game.

While Foles successfully hauled in the pass thrown his way during Super Bowl LII, Brady failed to catch a pass from one of his wide receivers later in that same game. Eagles fans have not let Brady forget about dropping what would have been a first down.

“I get reminded of that play every time I see an Eagles fan,” Brady said via SiriusXM in 2022.

“I sure as hell can’t catch anything, everyone’s seen that drop against the Eagles in the Super Bowl, but I can throw it a little bit,” Brady joked in 2021 – his second season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – during a postgame interview.

Brady won six Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots, before winning his seventh championship with the Buccaneers. In February 2023, Brady announced he was retiring “for good.”

Foles’ second stint with the Eagles ended after the 2018 season. He went on to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. He last appeared in an NFL game in 2022.

The Eagles drafted quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round in 2020. Hurts helped the Eagles advance to Super Bowl LVII, but suffered a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in that game. This year’s big game, on Feb. 9 in New Orleans, will be a rematch of the Super Bowl from two years ago.

A victory over the Eagles would secure an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title for the Chiefs. But, if Philly is victorious, it would mark the franchise’s second Super Bowl championship.

Nick Saban is arguably the greatest college football coach of all time, having won six national championships with Alabama and one while he was at LSU.

Saban, who finished his career with 292 wins, does not seem to carry a long list of regrets over the course of his career. He left coaching on his own terms last year following an incredibly successful era with the Crimson Tide.

He did, however, admit in a recent interview there was at least one thing he wished he could have back – jumping from LSU to coach the Miami Dolphins. Saban famously left the Tigers after winning a national championship to coach the Dolphins for two seasons. He then claimed he would not take the Alabama job but eventually did so anyway.

He said on “The Pivot” leaving LSU for the NFL was his “biggest mistake.”

“I think sometimes you have to learn about yourself,” he told LSU alumnus Ryan Clark, ex-Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder and former NFL star running back Fred Taylor. “And you might think things … When I left LSU, that was probably ‘professionally’ the biggest mistake that I ever made,” he admitted.

“Not because we didn’t have success in Miami. I enjoyed coaching in Miami. I found out in that experience that I like coaching college better, because you can develop players personally, academically, athletically and all that a little more than pro ball, even though I loved the status of coaching in pro football and the kind of guys you coach, and you’re coaching in the best league against the best players, I loved all that.”

Saban added that his agent, Jimmy Sexton, talked to him about leaving LSU. Saban said Sexton posed the question, “Do you want to be Bear Bryant or Vince Lombardi in terms of his legacy?” Saban said he answered he wanted to be more like Bryant but chose to go the NFL route anyway.
