WWE legend Booker T spells out what Jey Uso’s Royal Rumble win actually means

Jey Uso will be among the headliners at WrestleMania 41 after winning the 2025 Royal Rumble and challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Uso eliminated John Cena to become the winner of the marquee event, which plays a critical part on the road to WrestleMania. It will also be a chance at redemption for Uso as he was nearly able to pin Gunther for the title at Saturday Night’s Main Event last month.

WWE legend Booker T reacted to Uso’s win in an interview with Fox News Digital. He said Uso, and his brother, Jimmy, were one of those athletes who got to the gym early, stayed late and did everything anyone asked of him. For him, watching Uso win the Rumble was special.

“And then I watched Jey Uso make his meteoric rise from tag-team wrestling to singles wrestling,” said Booker T, who talked to Fox News Digital ahead of the debut of “WWE Legends and Future Greats.” “Not really wondering how far this thing is going to go, but let me go out here and do it and do it to the best of my ability. Let me go out here, give 100% every time they give me a task. Every time they put the microphone in front of me, let me go out here and try to make the fans feel something. And this ‘yeet’ thing has totally caught on, got everybody raising the roof – another aspect. I wonder where he got that from?

“To see Jey go out there and win the Royal Rumble, it definitely put him in that position where the company trusts him. Wouldn’t have won that Rumble if the company didn’t trust him. He has that title now, you know. When the company trusts you, it’s more than the best. For Jey to make it and cash in like that, I’m so proud of him, I really am.”

Cena inserted himself into the men’s Elimination Chamber match in March.

The winner of that match will get a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes since Uso already chose Gunther. Cena made clear at the post Rumble press conference he was using his veteran card to put himself in the match without having to go through the qualifier.

Booker T said it showed him that Cena is “not finished” with pro wrestling just yet.

However, he gave Cena his props for giving Uso the veteran rub as guys had given him in the past.

“John Cena did the right thing, though,” he told Fox News Digital. “John Cena went out there and did the right thing for the right guy, and he knew exactly what he was [doing]; don’t think that happened by accident or anything or happened any differently than John Cena wanted that to happen.

“John Cena, once upon a time, was that same kid as Jey Uso who needed a rub, that needed someone to believe in him and give him a shot. John Cena is the perfect person for that job.”

Ways and Means chair calls for de-weaponization, overhaul of IRS after ‘lawless’ behavior

FIRST ON FOX: House Ways & Means Committee Chair Jason Smith is calling for a complete overhaul of the Internal Revenue System, demanding the agency be de-weaponized, and telling Fox News Digital that “business as usual at the IRS is unacceptable.”

Smith, R-Mo., wrote a letter to IRS Acting Commissioner Douglas O’Donnell on Thursday, calling for ongoing oversight of the agency to ensure it takes steps to “rebuild trust” with Americans after “lawless and politically motivated behavior.”

HOUSE GOP DEMANDS ‘IMMEDIATE ACTION’ ON ALLEGED RETALIATION AGAINST IRS WHISTLEBLOWERS

“The story of the last two years at the IRS is one of both failure and outright weaponization of the agency driven in part by the Democrats’ decision to prioritize hiring 87,000 new IRS agents to audit working families over providing basic customer services,” Smith told Fox News Digital. “There are too many examples of problems at the IRS to count.”

Rep. Jason Smith, R-Mo., wrote a letter to IRS Acting Commissioner Douglas O’Donnell on Feb. 13, 2025, calling for ongoing oversight of the agency to ensure it takes steps to “rebuild trust” with Americans after “lawless and politically motivated behavior.”  (Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Images)

In the letter, exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital, Smith lays out concerns at the agency, including its alleged retaliation against the two IRS whistleblowers who brought claims of corruption and preferential treatment for Hunter Biden — Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.

Smith also pointed to the IRS’s support for $80 billion in mandatory funding that prioritized “aggressive audits over customer service,” the “failure to take aggressive action against tax-exempt organizations that have caused antisemitic chaos on college campuses, in American cities, and those that may be supporting terrorism” and more.

“Aggressive oversight of the IRS continues to be a top priority for the Committee, and the election results made it clear that the American people are looking for accountability,” Smith wrote. “President Trump has shown in his first three weeks that he meant what he said during the presidential campaign.”

Smith said the government “has not been working effectively for the American people, and it needs to change.”

“We will be watching closely to make certain that the IRS timely complies with all laws, executive orders, direction from the secretary of the Treasury, and requests from the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Senate Committee on Finance,” Smith said.

Smith told Fox News Digital that the agency has “acted outside its authority by refusing to apply the law when it hurts Democrats, like in the case of delaying the unpopular $600 Venmo reporting law, and by promoting Democrat interests without authorization, like when it turned a tiny feasibility study into a massive Direct File program costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.”

“We know that the IRS has retaliated against the two brave investigators that blew the whistle on preferential treatment for Hunter Biden,” Smith said, pointing to Shapley and Ziegler.

  • LARRY KUDLOW: Tariff diplomacy means crank up the Trump tax cuts

LARRY KUDLOW: Tariff diplomacy means crank up the Trump tax cuts

One thing we’ve learned about President Donald Trump’s tariff diplomacy is that he’s not bluffing.

He did offer Mexico President Sheinbaum a 30-day pause in the 25% tariff.

That’s because at the last moment she came in with a proposal to put 10,000 troops on the border to stop illegal immigration and curb the flow of fentanyl and other deadly drugs.

Identically Canada’s Trudeau did the same thing – so another 30 day pause.

Shows you what strong, decisive, and energetic leadership can do.

    These are big Trump wins.

But rest assured Mr. Trump was ready to pull the trigger. And I agree with his use of tariffs to protect both national and economic security.

    Now here’s a related thought.

Mr. Trumps aggressive use of tariffs should bring the Republican Congress great incentive to get the tax cuts passed.

Both the 2017 tax cut extension and some of the new Trump 2.0 tax cuts such as the 15% corporate tax, ,tax free tips for service workers, overtime pay and seniors.

Remember one of the good arguments posed by the President was that tariffs would generate revenues and revenues could finance tax cuts.

The 10% universal tariffs baseline that I strongly favor would of course allow Mr. Trump to seek reciprocity in bilateral negotiations.

But it could also provide something like $500 billion give or take to finance tax cuts.

In effect regarding the rest of the world, you tax us, then we’ll tax you back.

But our tax take will be given right back to our businesses and blue-collar working families.

And then in the spirit of reciprocity, if you stop taxing us then we’ll stop taxing you.

But who can tell if the tariff truce between Trump and Sheinbaum and Trudeau will continue longer than a month.

Mexico is a tough case because its basically became a narco state.

China’s exporting raw materials for fentanyl and other drugs, and the cartels put them all together in these hideous drug factories. And then the cartels bring them into the U.S. killing hundreds and thousands of Americans.

It’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

Mr. Trump is willing to tariff Mexico til the end of their time until they stop allowing this.

So once again, my message to Republican House and Senate members: please crank up those tax cuts into one big beautiful bill to be finished this spring, and help launch the Trump golden era, blue-collar boom.

  • Trumps Tariffs on Mexico, Canada: What is means for shoppers

Trumps Tariffs on Mexico, Canada: What is means for shoppers

President Donald Trump renewed his commitment to slapping tariffs on imports during his first day in office, saying that a 25% levy will be placed on all goods from Canada and Mexico by February. He reiterated some of those remarks Tuesday.

His push comes even after a slew of retailers have issued concerns about the tariffs pumping up the costs of their products or forcing them to cut back on inventory. Wall Street titan Goldman Sachs also raised concerns that hiking the levies on products will drive up costs for everyday Americans.

TJ MAXX CEO SAYS COMPANY COULD BENEFIT FROM TRUMP’S PROPOSED TARIFFS

Trump argued last month that tariffs when used properly will “make our country rich.”

By contrast, the head of the National Retail Federation (NRF) – the nation’s largest trade group – previously warned that shoppers could face higher prices on an array of goods if Trump’s proposed tariffs on imports to the U.S. are implemented. The trade group estimated that families could lose between $46 billion and $78 billion in spending power annually.

On Monday, NRF Executive Vice President of Government Relations David French said the United States first “needs a review of our trade relationships to be sure that those relationships are structured to achieve fair, balanced and effective outcomes for American workers and businesses.”

“Tariffs are taxes paid by Americans, and any new tariff tax increases should be methodically and effectively deployed toward only the most strategic goods,” French said. “Undertaking a strategic assessment of trade priorities is an important first step.”

He said the trade group is looking “forward to working with the president to see that the resulting policy changes are carefully targeted and create an environment that attracts investment and protects critical industries.”

TRUMP’S TARIFFS WOULD DRIVE UP CONSUMER PRICES: NATIONAL RETAIL FEDERATION

    U.S. COMPANIES WARNING ABOUT TARIFFS

    Costco

During an earnings call in December, Costco CFO Gary Millerchip warned that Trump’s proposed tariffs would raise costs for consumers.

In general, he told analysts that “tariffs raise costs so that’s not something that we see as a positive.”

“When it rains, it rains on everybody,” he added.

    Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree – which has high exposure to China – warned that if tariffs are implemented, then the company might have to change product details or sizes and even get rid of items altogether if they become too expensive.

In December, the discount retailer told analysts it has a “wide range of potential actions” it can take to mitigate additional tariffs if they materialize, including changing product details or sizes and even getting rid of items altogether if they become too expensive.

Dollar Tree said the last time the retailer faced this issue, in 2018 and 2019, it adjusted its products and negotiated lower costs with suppliers.

“Those options are still at our disposal,” interim CEO Michael Creedon told analysts on a Dec. 4 earnings call. “On top of those, we now have detailed plans in place to shift supply sources for most of our products to alternate countries, and multi-price gives us additional flexibility on our product assortment.”

    Home Depot

Home Depot CEO Ted Decker told analysts during an earnings call in November that whatever happens with “tariffs will be an industrywide impact. It won’t discriminate against different retailers and distributors who are importing goods. The type of product as an industry is generally sourced from the same countries.”

Lowe’s Chief Financial Officer Brandon Sink told analysts during an earnings call in November that 40% of its goods sold are sourced outside the U.S., “and that includes both direct imports and national brands through our vendor partners.”

“And as we look at potential impact, [it] certainly would add product costs, but timing and details remain uncertain at this point,” Sink said.

“Tariffs are going to be inflationary. There’s no disputing that,” Rainey said during an interview with Liz Claman on “The Claman Countdown.”

While Rainey said two-thirds of the items the company sells are made, grown or assembled in the U.S., he said it is “in no way immune to this.”

A Walmart spokesperson said in a statement to FOX Business that the company remains “concerned that significantly increased tariffs could lead to increased costs for our customers at a time when they are still feeling the remnants of inflation.”

The retail industry isn’t the only one that’s raised concerns. For instance, the head of finance for Stellantis hinted that it could shift production to the U.S. in the event that tariffs are enacted.
