Jayden Daniels wishes he was in New Orleans to gear up for the Super Bowl, not a press tour.

However, the state of Louisiana is where he called home for two years and became a star at LSU, so he is taking it all in. The Baton Rogue campus is just 80 miles away from Bourbon Street, and it is a “full-circle moment” for Daniels.

“Being here for two years, now we’re back here, I wanted to be back here playing in the Super Bowl, but it’s awesome man. Just being here, it’s a full-circle for us, for sure,” Daniels said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

It is also much more special for Daniels that the city is hosting the big game less than six weeks after the New Year’s terror attack.

“Obviously, it was a tragedy. You never want to see that happen,” Daniels added. “But it’s been awesome man, a great city to host an event like this. I love it out here. I’m happy they were able to do this.”

Daniels is in the Big Easy with his mother, which makes the full-circle moment even that much more complete. The two have teamed up with Invisalign to help fans build confidence with their smiles.

With Daniels being back home after his rookie season, it is hard not to feel confident.

“It’s been awesome. I pride myself on my smile. I had braces growing up, so just being able to enhance your smile even more, you always gotta keep a good set of teeth on you,” Daniels said.

Daniels is making the trip to the NFL Honors on Thursday in New Orleans, where he was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

He came up short in the NFC Championship, but with a bright future ahead of him, it is easy to realize that the Washington Commanders have big goals in mind.

So, how can they do it?

“We gotta take it one day at a time. Can’t really think about getting back, because you get caught up in different stuff,” Daniels said. “For us, just go out there, whoever we have, we have the standard set that this is who we want to be, this is the Commander team, we are the brand. Whoever comes in, we gotta hold them to that standard.”

“It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me,” Reese said in a statement. “LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA, and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans.”

Reese made her mark in LSU lore after carrying the Tigers to the 2023 national championship over Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

“We are excited to host a WNBA game in May featuring the Chicago Sky and Angel Reese,” LSU coach Kim Mulkey said. “Angel played a major role in establishing our program at LSU, and I know our fans are going to be excited to have her back in the PMAC. She had such a great rookie season, and we can’t wait to continue to watch her thrive in the WNBA.”

That title game featured Reese’s now-infamous taunt of Clark, which drew much criticism and started an unofficial rivalry between the two.

Clark dismissed any notion that Reese “should be criticized at all” after the fact, but the two have gone hand-in-hand in conversations surrounding women’s basketball, both on and off the floor.

Reese’s teammate Kamilla Cardoso will go against her home national team. She was the third pick of the draft, behind Clark and Cameron Brink, after completing an undefeated season with South Carolina.

“I am so excited to play against my former Brazilian national team,” Cardoso said. “Brazil has played such an important role in my life and has shaped the person I am today. Playing for the Sky against my former team gives me a wonderful opportunity to connect with my roots and play in front of old friends and teammates back home.”

  • South Carolina suspends DJ who controversially played song to troll LSU, Flau’jae Johnson

South Carolina suspends DJ who controversially played song to troll LSU, Flau’jae Johnson

University of South Carolina athletics said Sunday it suspended the DJ who played a song to troll the LSU Tigers women’s basketball team and its star Flau’jae Johnson after the Gamecocks’ win in their pivotal matchup.

No. 2 South Carolina topped No. 5 LSU, 66-56, on Friday night. The Gamecocks’ win ended the Tigers’ undefeated streak to start the season.

South Carolina’s official DJ, DJ T.O., played the instrumental version of Camoflauge’s “Cut Friends.” Camoflauge was shot and killed in Savannah, Georgia, outside Pure Pain Records while he was walking his son. He is the father of Flau’jae Johnson and the shooting occurred six months before she was born, according to NOLA.com.

DJ T.O. reshared someone’s post about the song on Instagram and wrote “My bad” with a cry-laughing emoji.

Flau’jae is a rapper in her own right and has dedicated her career to her late father. She called out the DJ on X.

“I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior. Nun funny bout that,” Johnson wrote on Saturday.

South Carolina then addressed the incident.

“We are addressing Friday night’s inappropriate in-game song selection and subsequent Instagram post by the DJ who is hired to work our women’s basketball games,” the school said. “Her actions were understandably upsetting to Flau’jae Johnson and her family and disrespectful to the LSU program and fans. Conference rivalries and passionate fan bases should only serve to enhance sports, not be used to target individual players personally.

“We regret that it came to that in our venue after a game that saw both teams capture the level of national attention that women’s basketball has earned and we apologize to Flau’jae, her family and LSU.

“As a result of her actions, DJ T.O. will be suspended for the next women’s basketball home game, and we will meet with her to provide further education on our expectations of her in the future.”
