    Navratri is not mere a nine-day festival where we worship Maa Durga, it is also about the traditions it entails. One such ritual is about wearing wearing different colours on all nine days and yes, there is a reason behind it too.

    The nine days of festivities are almost here. Shardiya Navratri shall commence from October 3 and culminate on october 12 with the celebration of Dussehra or Vijay Dashmi. Navratri is one of the most auspicious Hindu festival that is celebrated with great zeal differently in different parts of the country. From the high octane dandiya nights in Gujarat to pandal hopping in West Bengal, Navratri is a nine day and night celebration of nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. With different rituals, traditions entailing different households, every day is also associated with a specific colour that also holds certain spiritual like significance. According to Drik Panchang, here are nine colours of Navratri.

    Shardiya Navratri 2024 day wise colours list

    1. Day 1 Yellow: First day is dedicated to Goddess Shailputri. Yellow symbolises joy, happiness, and optimism. It represents the brightness of knowledge and the beginning of the festival.
    2. Day 2 Green: Goddess Brahmacharini will be worshipped on the second day of Shardiya Navratri. Green represents growth, harmony, and fertility. It signifies new beginnings and rejuvenation, reflecting the energy of nature.
    3. Day 3 Grey: Third day is for Goddess Chandraghanta. Grey symbolises strength and resilience. It represents the power to overcome obstacles and the courage to face challenges.
    4. Day 4 Orange: Goddess Kushmanda will be worshipped on day fourth.Orange reflects enthusiasm, excitement, and energy. It is associated with creativity and vitality, encouraging positive and vibrant energy.
    5. Day 5 White: Goddess Skandamata is for day five. White symbolises purity, peace, and serenity. It represents clarity of thought and the importance of spiritual growth and enlightenment.
    6. Day 6 Red: Goddess Katyayani Red is another form of Maa Durga that will be worshipped on sixth day of the Navratri. Red is known to represent power, passion, and strength. It signifies the fierce and protective aspects of the Goddess, embodying courage and determination.
    7. Day 7  Blue: Goddess Kalratri is for day seven. Blue symbolises calmness and tranquility. It represents the protective nature of the Goddess, shielding devotees from negativity and harm.
    8. Day 8 Pink: The eighth day is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri. Pink represents love, compassion, and nurturing. It embodies the tender and caring aspects of the Goddess, emphasising kindness and empathy.
    9. Day 9 Purple: Goddess Siddhidatri Purple will be celebrated with colour purple. It symbolises spirituality and wisdom. It represents the culmination of the festival, embodying the divine knowledge and the blessings of the Goddess.
