Jason Kelce opens up about ‘mixed emotions’ after brother Travis Kelce loses to Eagles in Super Bowl LIX

For former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, Super Bowl LIX was an emotional roller coaster through the end.

Kelce was faced with the dilemma of rooting for his former team or his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. In the end, it was the Birds that ended up victorious. While that gave the former NFL player something to cheer about, Jason expressed just how complicated his feelings about the big game were in a lengthy post on social media Monday.

“Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles, my former teammates, and friends on being SB LIX Champions!! There were a lot of emotions last night, and now that I’ve collected my thoughts, I’ll attempt to share them in the longest tweet ever,” Jason began in a post on X.

“That game was odd for me to watch if I’m being completely honest. I knew it was going to be mixed emotions before, during, and after, and I now know what my parents had to deal with two years ago,” he said, referencing Super Bowl LVII where the two brothers played against one another.

“On one hand, I wanted what is best for my brother, and to see his success. And on the other hand, there are so many people, teammates, and coaches, in the Philadelphia Eagles organization that I care deeply about, many of whom I owe my own success to throughout my career.”

Jason congratulated his former teammates and coaches, adding that they “proved themselves to be undoubtedly the best team this season.”

He also went into detail about Travis and the Chiefs’ accomplishments.

“As for my brother, there isn’t a person I love or care about more. It has been tough to process these feelings, of course I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity. He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past. I know right now they are still thinking of last night and the shortcomings in the last game, but in time that will fade, and the greatness they have exhibited as a group will remain as one of the most dominant eras of football ever.”

The Chiefs were chasing history this season, looking to become the first NFL team to ever win three consecutive championships. But the Eagles put on a show to rout the defending champs 40-22.

“Congratulations Philadelphia, I look forward to the speeches and celebrations that will happen in the coming days. I mean who doesn’t love a parade,” Jason said before adding, “Go Birds.”

Jason Kelce brought to tears with story about New Orleans terror attack victims

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce got emotional when talking about two of the victims in the New Orleans terrorist attack.

Kelce is part of ESPN’s Super Bowl pregame coverage, and the network aired a piece about Ryan Quigley, an Eagles fan who survived the attack.

The story brought Kelce to tears.

Quigley was with his friend, Tiger Bech, who was walking on Bourbon Street when a man driving a pickup truck drove into a crowd of people.

Bech was among one of 14 people killed in the attack, and Quigley was injured.

Quigley vowed to never return to the city after the tragedy, but the Eagles offered him tickets to the Super Bowl after his story.

Quigley made the decision to go to the game because of a promise he made to his late best friend, Bech.

Quigley told Bech that if the Eagles made the Super Bowl, he would take them to the big game in New Orleans.

When the cameras cut back to Kelce and the ESPN crew, the former Eagles star was overcome with emotions.

“Listen, there’s some awful people in this world,” Kelce said after taking a moment to gather himself.

“I had the fortune of meeting Ryan,” Kelce said through tears. “And the spirit, right there – you wouldn’t even know something happened if he wasn’t in a wheelchair before the Rams game. On one end, something terrible can happen, and on the other, something so beautiful can happen. And just happy that he’s going to be here on the behalf of Eagles fans everywhere. Hell yeah, Ryan.”

Quigley will be in attendance, hoping to see his Eagles win their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

Mavericks coach Jason Kidd says he was unaware of shocking Luka Dončić trade until ‘eleventh hour’

Luka Dončić, a five-time All-NBA first-teamer who is only 25 years old, was traded last week for Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis in a deal that caught everyone in the league by surprise.

Dallas fans were especially upset, with many seemingly agreeing that Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison gave up too much and received too little.

Maverick head coach Jason Kidd recently addressed the angst.

“Our sympathy goes to the fans,” Kidd said after the Mavs’ win over the Boston Celtics Feb. 6.

Two days later, Kidd made a surprising admission about his involvement leading up to the blockbuster trade. He said he learned a deal involving Dončić was in progress at the “eleventh hour.”

“Eleventh hour. Just got a call to come up to the room and was told about the trade,” Kidd said, responding to a question about when he found out Dončić was on the trading block.

Kidd, a former Mavericks point guard, added he can only coach the players on the roster.

“I’m an employee of the Mavs. I’ve said this before, and some of you maybe overlooked it: I’m the coach. I coach the players that are here. We made a trade, and we’ve got to push forward. That’s what we’re doing,” Kidd said.

“No one’s going to feel bad for us. Trades happen in this game. Things change, coaches change, teams get sold. A lot of things happen that are out of our control, but you’ve got to continue to just do your job, and that’s what I’m doing. I’m the coach. I’m not the decision-maker. I’m here to coach the team that’s given to me, and then I’m judged on that by you guys.”

Davis sat out Thursday’s game with an abdominal strain. He made his debut with Dallas Saturday, recording a 26-point double-double before exiting the game against the Houston Rockets with a lower-body injury.

PGA star Jason Day wears sweats at Pebble Beach, sparking social media stir, John Fetterman comparisons

It’s no secret that Jason Day has pushed the boundaries lately with his on-course attire, but many fans think he crossed the line on Sunday.

Day teed off for the final round at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and his outfit – a full gray sweatsuit – drew a ton of reaction.

The Australian has a partnership with Malbon Golf, who has tried to de-country-club the golf look.

It got to the point where Augusta National officials asked him to make an outfit change during last year’s Masters.

At Pebble Beach, Day was donning an outfit that some might just sleep in, prompting a stir.

“I don’t care how much I get downvoted but he is finding new ways to look like a slob,” wrote one user on X.

“An insult to the game,” said another.

Added one more, “Dressing like John Fetterman should not be an option for professional golfers on the tour. Frankly, it should not be an option for any golfers playing at Pebble Beach.”

Jason and Kylie Kelce reveal Super Bowl loyalties amid conflicting ties to Chiefs, Eagles

Jason and Kylie Kelce are torn about whom to root for in Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

On one hand, they have a family member, star tight end Travis Kelce, playing for the Chiefs.

On the other hand, Jason played 13 seasons for the Eagles and is still close to several people in the organization. Kylie is a die-hard Eagles fan who also has many friends in the organization.

So, whom to root for? Your brother/brother-in-law or your hometown team with some people you consider extended family.

“Here’s the biggest thing. Obviously, you’re my brother. I’ll always root for my brother. That’s the reality of it alright, even though I’m decked out in Eagles gear I’m always going to root for Travis,” Jason said during a recent episode of “New Heights.”

“Take that, Philly,” Travis said while laughing.

“But, there’s a lot of people in the Philadelphia organization, whether it’s players, coaches, people in the building, that feel like extended family to me. Especially my former linemen, like Lane Johnson, feels like a brother in a lot of ways, and I’m rooting for those guys, too,” Jason said.

“I’m rooting for Philadelphia, and I’m rooting for Travis Kelce. That’s the reality of it. No matter what, on gameday I’m going to be happy for one of those sides, and I’m going to be sad for the other side.”

What makes it difficult for Jason is that he still feels so close to the organization.

“It’s similar to the last time we played. I mean maybe a little bit less intense, because I’m not playing now, but I think it’s going to be very, very similar, I really do. I live in Philadelphia, I still go to the facilities on a very regular basis, I still feel like I am a Philadelphia Eagle and that I’m a part of all of these people that root and cheer on our team,” Jason said.

“I would be lying if I said I don’t want the Eagles to win. You know what I mean? I want them, too, but I also want Travis Kelce to win. So that’s a longwinded way of saying I just want to see a good football game, and whoever wins I’m going to be happy for that guy.”

As for Kylie, she is very happy about Travis’ success.

“I am so happy and proud of Travis and the Chiefs’ accomplishments. I think that the opportunity to play for such a historic milestone is incredible to be able to potentially witness, and I think that Travis has been there for his entire career. He has worked so hard and put in so much time that I am truly, as always, cheering Travis on. And I love him, he’s my family, so I will always cheer on Travis’s accomplishments and hopefully success,” Kylie said during a recent episode of “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce.”

Despite being proud of Travis, that doesn’t mean Kylie is rooting for the Chiefs.

“That being said, I was raised to bleed green. I have friends who are still associated with the team, I have a close relationship with a lot of people in the Eagles organization. I get to live in the Philadelphia community, so I will also be cheering for the success of those people,” Kylie said.

Kylie can’t even bring herself to say her customary ‘Go Chiefs’ when interacting with Chiefs fans, due to the upcoming Super Bowl.

“That any other week when I see Chiefs fans, I will tell them, ‘Go Chiefs,’ I will not be saying that for the next two weeks. I can’t bring myself to do it because then it feels as though I’m actively wishing it against, yeah, no. Can’t, ah, this is hard, I don’t like this. I’m not having fun. Like I’m having fun independently. I’m having fun as an Eagles fan, I’m having fun as a Travis fan. It’s hard. It is hard. I don’t like it. I don’t like it, but also, it’s very exciting, but I’m mad about it. I feel like I’m having a manic episode,” Kylie said.

While Kylie is torn, she said her daughters will be supporting their uncle.

“I will say, we have made moves to get the girls ‘Go Uncle Trav’ shirts, because they love their uncle, and, of course, they love cheering him on, and, to be fair, they love cheering on the birds, too. But he is our family, and I want to make sure that the girls feel included.”

The Chiefs take on the Eagles in the Super Bowl on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX, where Jason and Kylie will have mixed emotions, no matter the outcome.

Jason Kelce showed where his loyalty lies in Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl as old ‘New Heights’ clip resurfaces

The last time the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles were in the Super Bowl, history was made with the first brothers playing in the “Big Game.”

This time around, Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce will not be seeing his older brother, Jason Kelce, on the Philadelphia Eagles sideline.

So, with no stake in the game, where does Jason’s loyalty lie: With his brother and the Chiefs or with the team he played all his 13 seasons for?

Well, a clip from their “New Heights” podcast last March has surfaced again because Jason gave an answer to a fan question about who he would root for if the Chiefs and Eagles would play in the Super Bowl in 2025.

“I will root for the Eagles, of course,” Jason answered.

“This is bulls—,” Travis responded.

Can anyone blame Jason after what he accomplished as an Eagles legend?

“Because I will always be an Eagle,” he said. “First and foremost. I’ll also root for Travis to have a good game, of course, cause he’s my brother, but nah, I’ll definitely be cheering on the Eagles.”

While Jason has championed his brother in the past, including the Chiefs’ win over the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, he has remained loyal to Philadelphia from that moment.

Will that change now that it has become a reality? “New Heights” episodes are released every Wednesday, so fans could find out this week.

Jason was also seen in Kansas City on Sunday night wearing a No. 87 Kelce jersey at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to support his brother.

3 people charged with selling forged Jason Kelce memorabilia

Three adults have been charged with forgery, theft and other charges related to selling fake Jason Kelce-signed memorabilia.

Robert Capone, LeeAnn Branco and Joseph Parenti allegedly forged Kelce’s signature on more than 1,100 memorabilia items that were valued at least $200,000 total.

Jerseys, mini-helmets, hats, photos, footballs and other items were sold by Capone’s Overtime Promotions and Parent’s Diamond Legends after being verified by Branco, an employee of Beckett Authentication Services, documents say.

Kelce himself appeared at a signing event on June 11 at the Valley Forge Casino Hotel near Philadelphia, where Kelce played 13 seasons with the Eagles. Branco took a photo of Kelce to make the items seem more legitimate.

The police were notified by a Pennsylvania-based memorabilia company that had been in contact with Kelce to sign the items.

“The investigation found that Capone, Parenti and Branco conspired to use Branco’s Beckett Authentication Services credentials to create counterfeit autographed sport memorabilia and then offered it for sale as authentically contracted-for products signed by Kelce,” authorities said in a press release.

Capone, Branco and Parenti are charged with 60 felony counts. Capone was released from jail after posting $100,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5.

Kelce is in his first season as a former player after winning a Super Bowl, making the Pro Bowl seven times and being named six times a First-Team All-Pro.

Kelce’s former Eagles are in the NFC Championship Game for the second time in three years and the third time since the 2017 season. The Birds won both of those contests but have split their latest Super Bowl appearances.

The Eagles need to get by the Washington Commanders for a third time this season if they want to compete with either the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl LIX. Kansas City defeated the Eagles in the Super Bowl two years ago as the first half of their back-to-back reign.
