Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s flashy $360 million megayacht steals the show ahead of Super Bowl LIX

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have missed the playoffs for the second straight season, but the team has managed to make headlines in the lead up to Super Bowl LIX, thanks to owner Shad Khan’s flashy megayacht.

The 400-foot monstrosity, reportedly worth $360 million, has captured the attention of NFL fans in New Orleans, a city that certainly doesn’t lack attractions of its own.

According to Nola.com, Khan’s yacht, named the Kismet, is docked along the Mississippi River in downtown New Orleans and arrived in late January.

The 122-meter vessel can fit up to 12 guests in its nine cabinets and can house at least 36 crew members and a captain, Jacksonville.com reported.

The luxury yacht purchased by Khan in 2024 features three pools across its six decks, four fireplaces, two fire pits, a spa, gym, basketball and pickleball courts and a helipad, according to the report.

Among other entertainment factors, the yacht boasts a dance floor, four outdoor bars, several dining areas and an outdoor cinema.

The Jaguars are in a transitional period after undergoing a massive overhaul to kick off the offseason.

In addition to hiring first year head coach Liam Coen, Khan hired Hall of Fame left tackle Tony Boselli as the team’s executive vice president. Former Vikings assistant Grant was named offensive coordinator, while former Green Bay assistant coach Anthony Campanile took over as the defensive coordinator.

Liam Coen appeared to say all the right things in his introductory press conference as the new Jacksonville Jaguars head coach.

However, fans are fixating on one awkward moment that had social media ripping into the 39-year-old offensive whiz on Monday night.

The Jaguars and its fan base are known for their “DUUUVAL!” chant during games, which is based around the Florida county Jacksonville resides in.

However, Coen’s first public attempt trying the rallying cry was not the most energetic, as he spoke into the lectern, and NFL fans are now thinking the worst.

“Fireable offense,” one X user wrote in the comments underneath the video.

“0-17,” said another, referencing their prediction of a winless first season for Coen and the Jaguars.

Another added, “Yeah he will be gone in 3 years.”

Now, it is easy to jump the gun on a coach during their introductory press conferences. Fans have done so countless times, judging the coach before even watching their first game play out.

A prime example was Dan Campbell’s “we’re going to bite a kneecap off” line during his introductory presser with the Detroit Lions four years ago. Fans thought it was quite a weird way to talk about the grit he wanted his team to have, but Campbell quickly became one of the best head coaches in the league.

Then, there was Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon’s message to the team before the start of the 2023 season, which went viral after he started asking how players got to the facility.

Fans particularly laughed at Gannon asking, “Who took the bus?” Granted, most of the players were on million-dollar contracts.

However, Gannon’s Cardinals improved vastly from 2023, where they went 4-13 with Kyler Murray sidelined for most of the year, as they finished 8-9 this season and just missed out on the playoffs. Players have been vocal about their love for “JG” and what he brings to the building.

Then there is the reverse effect – coaches who have great pressers that ultimately flop. The New York Giants fans loved what Joe Judge brought in his first words, showing a no-nonsense approach that would make players want to go to war for him. However, Judge did not pan out well, going 10-23 before being fired after the 2021 season to make way for Brian Daboll.

First impression could mean everything, and though Coen might have had an awkward moment, he said the right things after that.

He noted wanting “savages” on his roster, players that are not only fundamentally sound, but have an attack mentality.

“Just that physical mindset,” he explained. “When our opponents turn on the tape, what are they looking at? Are they seeing guys playing through the echo of the whistle? You might get a flag or two early on. Man, hey, let’s pull back a little. OK, here we go. But I want them playing on the edge.

“It’s a violent game. They have to be that way. I want them to play that way. So that’s where it starts. If we can get that out of these guys, I think we’ll be moving in the right direction.”

It was a roller coaster to get Coen in this position. He initially told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he would stay on as offensive coordinator before reconsidering the job after Jaguars GM Trent Baalke was fired from his role.

However, Coen’s track record of getting offenses right seems to be exactly what the Jags need, with Trevor Lawrence and the offense struggling under Doug Pederson’s leadership in 2023.

If Coen can flip the Jaguars back to the AFC playoff threat they were in the past, fans will be eager to help him learn a better “DUUUVAL!” cry in the future.

Jaguars’ Liam Coen texted Baker Mayfield he was staying with Bucs before taking head coaching job: report

Liam Coen texted Baker Mayfield that he was staying with the Buccaneers as offensive coordinator on Tuesday, according to ESPN.

On Friday, the Jacksonville Jaguars officially announced Coen as their new head coach, which came after a roller coaster of a week.

Coen also texted head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht on Tuesday that he would be staying with the Bucs, according to the report.

After texting the Bucs’ brass, Coen then withdrew himself from consideration from the Jaguars head coaching job on Wednesday.

The Buccaneers were prepared to make Coen the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL.

However, the Jaguars then parted ways with their general manager, Trent Baalke, on Wednesday afternoon. Jaguars owner Shad Khan then directly reached out to Coen to see whether he would reconsider taking the head coaching job.

On Thursday, Coen was in Jacksonville for an in-person interview and was eventually hired.

While Coen was in Jacksonville interviewing, the Bucs were waiting for him to come into the building and sign his new contract to stay with the team.

But the Bucs couldn’t get in touch with Coen or his agent, and they began to realize that he was unreachable because he was in Jacksonville interviewing for the job, the report said.

The Jaguars hope that Coen can help Trevor Lawrence have a career year in the same way he did for Mayfield last season.

The Bucs averaged 29.5 points per game in the regular season, and Mayfield threw a career-high 41 touchdowns en route to winning the NFC South.

The Jaguars went 4-13 last season, with Lawrence missing time due to injury, leading Khan to fire head coach Doug Pederson and eventually Baalke after the season.

Coen will have the No. 5 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft to try and begin the Jaguars’ turnaround.

  • Jaguars ‘respectfully separate’ from general manager Trent Baalke as other teams fill similar roles

Jaguars ‘respectfully separate’ from general manager Trent Baalke as other teams fill similar roles

The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to have to make up for some lost time.

With the season ending over two weeks ago, the team announced Wednesday it has parted ways with general manager Trent Baalke.

“Following several discussions with Trent Baalke this week, we both arrived at the conclusion that it is in our mutual best interests to respectfully separate, effective immediately,” owner Shad Khan wrote in a statement.

“Trent leaves us with my deepest appreciation for his efforts over the past five seasons. … I am deeply committed to building a winner here in Jacksonville and look forward to introducing a new head coach who will make that happen for our players and fans alike.”

After winning the AFC South in 2022, it’s been a tough couple of seasons for the organization. The Jags choked what would have been a second-straight division win in 2023. This season, in Trevor Lawrence’s first year of one of the most lucrative contract extensions of all time, he took a step backward, and the team finished 4-13.

Baalke joined the Jags in 2020 as their director of player personnel but was quickly promoted to general manager the following year. His first selection in the draft was Lawrence.

Jacksonville went 25-43 in his tenure.

The separation comes after the Titans and Raiders hired new general managers.

Reports say that, after the Jags fired Doug Pederson, potential head coaching candidates did not want to work under Baalke. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson chose the Bears, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn went with the Jets and Bucs OC Liam Coen decided to return to Tampa Bay instead of going to Jacksonville.
