Deportation flights begin as Trump sends ‘strong and clear message’: White House

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Friday that “deportation flights have begun,” releasing a photo of people boarding a military aircraft.

“President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences,” she added.

  • 204 House Dems vote against bill to give lifesaving treatment to infants who survive abortions

204 House Dems vote against bill to give lifesaving treatment to infants who survive abortions

The House of Representatives has passed a bill that would penalize doctors who do not provide life-saving care to infants born alive after an abortion attempt.

All but one Democrat voted against the bill, which passed 217 to 204, with all Republicans in favor. One Democrat, Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas, voted “present.”

The bill directs health care practitioners to operate with the “same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence” for a baby born with a heartbeat after an abortion as during a normal birth. Doctors who run afoul of the rule would be fined or given up to five years behind bars.

House GOP leaders lauded the bill, with Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., telling Fox News Digital, “Requiring medical care for babies born alive after a failed abortion isn’t controversial, it’s common sense.”

“The fact that Democrats would rather support infanticide than vote in favor of this bill shows how extreme and out-of-touch their party has become,” Emmer said.

Democrats have argued that the bill is redundant, given existing laws against infanticide and murder, and could imperil the lives of women seeking late-term abortions due to medical emergencies while unfairly penalizing doctors.

“No one goes through pregnancy and all that comes with it…and then after eight or nine months of that is like ‘nah, I don’t want to do this,’” Rep. Sara Jacobs, D-Calif., said during debate on the bill, adding that late-term operations made up about 1% of abortions. “It is because of a serious fetal abnormality or the health of the mother.”

She said the bill was “not based on science or reality.”

Several Democrats who spoke out against the bill themselves went through emergency abortion procedures with a nonviable pregnancy.

Among them was Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez, D-N.M., who said the bill would allow women to “die on the operating table because doctors are scared of going to jail.”

Republicans, meanwhile, argued the bill would stop babies from being “left to die in a closet, alone and discarded like medical waste,” as Rep. Michelle Fischbach, R-Minn., said during debate.

“These precious babies, fellow Americans, deserve protection because they are alive,” said Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas.

The vote comes after Democrats tanked the bill in the Senate earlier this week. The legislation failed to pass a procedural hurdle that needed 60 votes to allow for debate on its final passage.

  • House GOP firebrand invokes Trump while mulling gubernatorial run in South Carolina: ‘I’m a fighter’

House GOP firebrand invokes Trump while mulling gubernatorial run in South Carolina: ‘I’m a fighter’

Rep. Nancy Mace says if she moves ahead and launches a 2026 Republican run for South Carolina governor, she’ll aim “to lock down support” from President Trump.

“I had Pres. Trump’s endorsement in the House and I am working hard to lock down support in this race. He said I am a strong conservative voice, he knows I’m a fighter,” Mace said Thursday in a statement to Fox News Digital.

A day earlier, Mace took to social media to reiterate what she first told the AP, that’s she’s seriously considering a gubernatorial run in the race to succeed GOP Gov. Henry McMaster, who is term-limited.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) arrives for a House Republican caucus meeting at the U.S. Capitol on November 19, 2024 in Washington, DC.  (Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images)

“President Trump needs bold leaders to implement his agenda in every state across the nation. It will take grit. It will take strength. It will take hard work. I can confirm, affirmative, yes, we are considering a run in 2026. South Carolina First,” Mace said in her social media post.

Mace, who was first elected to the House in the 2020 election, didn’t vote to impeach Trump for inciting the Jan. 6, 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol by right-wing extremists and other Trump supporters who aimed to disrupt congressional certification of former President Biden’s 2020 election victory.

But she later blamed Trump for the attack on the U.S. Capital, and in 2022 faced – but survived – a Republican primary challenge from a rival backed by Trump.

    Rep. Nancy Mace South Carolina

Mace endorsed the former president as he ran for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination and campaigned for him in South Carolina’s crucial early voting presidential primary.

Trump returned the favor, backing Mace as she ran for re-election last year.

Mace told Fox News Digital that “I’ve proven my leadership, from the state legislature to Washington, my bold conservative policies are rooted in the Constitution, liberty, small government, and common sense.”

“I believe in a government small enough to fit into the Constitution,” she added.

And Mace emphasized that “I kick ass and take names from South Carolina to DC and back, that’s the leadership the Palmetto State is looking for.”

Mace recently made headlines by introducing a resolution to ban transgender women from using women’s bathrooms at the U.S. Capitol or the adjoining House office buildings. It’s an issue of high interest to many voters on the right.

Trump is very popular in Republican-dominated South Carolina, and his endorsement in a GOP gubernatorial primary would be immensely influential among the state’s conservative electorate.

Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, and state Sens. Josh Kimbrell and Sean Bennett are among those also considering gubernatorial bids.

It’s going to be a crowded field, veteran South Carolina-based Republican consultant Dave Wilson told Fox News. “There’s going to be a lot of people who are going to throw their hat in the ring.”

“It’s going to be a battle of the conservatives – how conservative you can be in South Carolina,” Wilson emphasized.

McMaster, another top Trump ally, is on track to become South Carolina’s longest serving governor. The then-lieutenant governor succeeded Gov. Nikki Haley in 2017 when she stepped down to become ambassador to the United Nations in Trump’s first term. McMaster went on to win election in 2018 to a full four-year term, and re-election in 2022.

Prominent private sector investments mount amid Trump’s return to the White House

The return of President Donald Trump to the White House has raised hopes for a surge of investment in the U.S. economy, with several notable deals already announced in the lead up to Inauguration Day and since his second term began.

The day after Trump began his second term, Trump was joined by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison and Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son to announce a collaborative project known as Stargate that will focus on developing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Stargate will be financed with an initial tranche of $100 billion, which could rise to a total of $500 billion over the course of the project.

Earlier this month, DAMAC – an investment and property development company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates – announced an investment of at least $20 billion in data centers in the U.S. DAMAC founder and chairman Hussain Sajwani said the company has been “waiting for years” to increase its investments in the U.S. and added that it will expand its investment beyond that level if the market opportunity allows for it.

Last month, Softbank’s Son held a press conference with Trump where they revealed a $100 billion investment in the U.S. that aims to create 100,000 jobs in AI and other emerging industries.

During the announcement at Mar-a-Lago, Trump jokingly asked if Son would be willing to “make it $200 billion.” Son paused and replied, “I will try to make it happen,” which prompted Trump to say, “Alright, 200,” and left Son laughing as he called Trump “a great negotiator.”

The influx of investments in the tech sector comes amid the rapid rise of AI and other emerging technologies that will help to shape the world economy in the decades ahead.

That momentum has advocates for pro-growth policies like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s largest business trade group, looking to capitalize with regulatory reforms to entice further investment.

“It’s great to see companies looking to make strategic investments within the United States. We look forward to working with the administration to reduce regulatory burdens to spur further investments,” Jordan Crenshaw, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Technology Engagement Center (CTEC), told FOX Business.

Jason DeLorenzo, market strategist and founder of the Volland options dealer platform, told FOX Business in an interview that the publicly announced deals along with the visible presence of tech leaders like Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos at Trump’s inauguration show the contrast with Trump’s first term.

“I think Trump himself said, in my first term everybody was fighting me, and now in my second term everybody wants to be friends with me,” DeLorenzo said. “All of a sudden people are trying to align with Trump as opposed to fight him.”

“I do think that countries and businesses are recognizing that Trump has tapped into a sentiment in America that is now the majority sentiment. And in order to survive, I think a lot of these businesses and foreign sovereigns are paying more attention to him,” he explained.

DeLorenzo noted that with the new deals focused on AI and emerging technologies, as well as tech leaders looking to build closer relationships with Trump than during his first term, he hopes it will precede similar investment announcements in other sectors of the economy as well.

“I just hope that Trump takes a holistic view of the economy when trying to get these investments in America and not just on the tech side,” he said.

  • House Speaker Johnson calls Biden’s last-minute pardons ‘shocking’ and ‘disgusting’

House Speaker Johnson calls Biden’s last-minute pardons ‘shocking’ and ‘disgusting’

House Speaker Mike Johnson says former President Joe Biden’s last-minute pardons of his family members were “shocking” and “disgusting.”

“It was shocking. I mean, it was shocking what President Biden did on the way out, pardoning his family for more than a decade of whatever activity, any nonviolent offenses. It was breathtaking to us,” Johnson said Wednesday during the House Republican leadership’s weekly press conference.

“I don’t think that’s anything like that’s ever been anticipated. And by the way, go look at the tape. You know, four years ago when it was just implied that President Trump might do something similar, they were apoplectic. Joe Biden himself, Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer, roll the tape. They all said that would be crazy and unconscionable. And now they’re cheering it along,” Johnson continued.

“To us, it is disgusting. To us, it probably proves the point. The suspicion that, you know, they call it the Biden crime family. If they weren’t the crime family, why do they need pardons? Right?” Johnson also said. “Look, there’s a lot of attention that’s going to be paid to this. And I think that is appropriate. And we will be looking at it as well.”

Biden pardoned his siblings just minutes before leaving office on Monday.

The pardon applied to James Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John Owens, and Francis Biden, the White House announced. The president argued that his family could be subject to “politically motivated investigations” after he leaves office.

“I believe in the rule of law, and I am optimistic that the strength of our legal institutions will ultimately prevail over politics. But baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety, and financial security of targeted individuals and their families,” Biden said in a statement.

“Even when individuals have done nothing wrong and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact of being investigated or prosecuted can irreparably damage their reputations and finances,” Biden added.

The pardons have been widely criticized, with Trump-Vance transition senior adviser Jason Miller describing them to Fox News as “nonsense.”

“I think for Joe Biden to do that, I thought that was nonsense,” he said.

Former Biden White House communications director Kate Bedingfield also called them a “disappointing move.”

Biden issued another wave of pre-emptive pardons earlier Monday morning, those going to Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark Milley and people associated with the House select committee investigation on January 6.

Since taking office, President Donald Trump signed off on releasing more than 1,500 charged with crimes stemming from the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the U.S. Capitol.

House Speaker Johnson captures VP JD Vance’s first visit to the Oval Office on video

House Speaker Mike Johnson channeled his inner dad energy as he excitedly recorded Vice President JD Vance’s first time in the Oval Office. The speaker not only celebrated the moment, but he noted Vance’s background, saying his story is one that could happen “only in America.”

“As we gathered for our meeting at the White House yesterday, JD Vance mentioned to us that he had never before visited the Oval Office. I told him and President Trump that I HAD to capture the moment on video,” Johnson wrote in a post on X. “Only in America can a hardworking young man from Appalachia rise from his humble circumstances to enter the Oval for first time as VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. What a country!”

Vance’s background took center stage in the campaign as then-Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, D-Min., made a joke about no one from his small town going to Yale, where Vance got his law degree.

“Now, I grew up in Butte, Nebraska, a town of 400 people. I had 24 kids in my high school class, and none of them went to Yale,” Walz said during his remarks at the Democratic National Convention.

The Trump campaign was quick to call out Walz’s remarks on social media, calling it a “weird flex.”

WHO IS TRUMP’S RUNNING MATE JD VANCE?

Before he was chosen as President Donald Trump’s running mate, Vance served as a senator from Ohio after winning the seat in 2022. However, the current vice president entered the public eye in 2016 when he published his book, “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis.” In the book, he details his challenging upbringing in Middletown, Ohio.

Surrounded by poverty, and grappling with his mother’s drug addiction, Vance worked his way into a position to make change.

In 2020, years after the memoir was published, it was turned into a Netflix movie, which was directed by Ron Howard and starred Glenn Close and Amy Adams. “Hillbilly Elegy” faced fierce criticism, which both Close and Adams rejected. Recently, while on “The View,” Close praised the vice president’s “very generous family.”

  • House Republican unveils 47-page roadmap to ‘Make America Healthy Again’

House Republican unveils 47-page roadmap to ‘Make America Healthy Again’

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, on Wednesday unveiled a lengthy report that he says serves as a “roadmap” to “Make America Healthy Again” and points to how the flawed American healthcare system impacts “national defense.”

The 47-page report – titled “The Case for Healthcare Freedom” – is a “painstakingly researched” summary of “America’s health crisis and how to address it,” Roy said.

Its findings include that U.S. healthcare spending had reached $4.9 trillion in 2023.

As a share of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP), health spending accounted for 17.6%, and costs are growing around 1% faster than the annual GDP, the report says.

The report argues that “if conservatives care about a strong national defense and low taxes, these trends have to be reversed.”

MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN: THE POWERHOUSE FOODS THAT WORK MEDICAL MAGIC

“The Case for Healthcare Freedom lays out a detailed roadmap for how Congressional Republicans can help President Trump deliver on the promise to address America’s health crisis,” Roy said in a statement. “The problem isn’t just health insurance, or Big Pharma, or food additives that are making us unhealthy; it’s the fact that politicians, bureaucrats and corporations are all benefitting from a broken, cronyistic system that lets them put profits over patients with impunity.”

Roy argued that right now, Congress has “a tremendous opportunity to put American healthcare back on track by embracing the empowerment of patients and doctors through the promotion of expansive health savings accounts in the budget reconciliation process, and we need to take full advantage.” The congressman went on to say, “giving the same actors more power and money won’t work; if we want to Make America Healthy Again, the answer is healthcare freedom. If we want to control our budgets and healthcare spending, the answer is healthcare freedom.”

The wide-ranging report comes just two days after President Donald Trump was sworn into a second term. The pledge to “Make America Healthy Again” became a focal point of Trump’s campaign when Democrat turned Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the race and backed him. Trump tapped Kennedy to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, but his confirmation hearing has not yet been scheduled.

The report includes criticism of the program providing food welfare assistance for low-income households.

FORMER TRUMP HHS OFFICIAL TAPPED TO BE RFK JR’S CHIEF OF STAFF: REPORT

“While chronic food illness kills up to 678,000 Americans per year, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will likely pay over $250 billion on junk food for the next 10 years,” Roy’s office notes.

The report also targets the coveted weight loss and diabetes drugs championed as “miracle medication,” which has even used by celebrities to drop pounds in recent months. It found the Danish pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk, “spent at least $25.8 million over the past decade on U.S. medical professionals to promote two of its obesity drugs, Wegovy and Saxenda.”

The report assesses that families and their employers on average in 2024 spent $25,000 annually, or nearly the cost of a company car, for health insurance, and that’s despite “the false promise of Obamacare to lower premiums by $2,500 a year.” The cost of premiums has increased at least 100% since 2010, according to the report.

“Obamacare has made healthcare so expensive that it now subsidizes households earning up to $600,000 per year for their health insurance,” the report says.

In 2024, the report found, four of the top five American industries by revenue were healthcare-related. Those were hospitals, which came in first; drug, cosmetics and toiletry wholesaling, which came second; health insurance, which earned the third place slot; and pharmaceutical wholesaling, which came in fifth.

The report also discusses how 47% of hospital cash prices are lower than the insurer-negotiated price “that people pay hundreds of dollars a month for the privilege of having.”

The report argues multiple insurance companies, including UnitedHealth, Anthem/Elevance, and Humana, “earn” a majority of their revenue from taxpayers.

“We do not have a free market in the healthcare system. The government controls more than 80% of health spending,” according to a summary of the report provided by Roy’s office. “The Left’s solution to fix our healthcare system is spending even more money and giving the government even further control over the healthcare system. ‘Medicare for All’ would cost an additional $33 trillion over 10 years, and it would leave 70% of Americans financially worse off.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday pledged to “deepen strategic coordination” in a video call less than a day after President Donald Trump re-entered the White House.

A transcript of the call posted to the Kremlin’s website showed that both Putin and Xi referred to one another as “friends” and vowed to back one another’s strategic interests, no matter the “current global situation.”

“This year, I am ready, together with you, to elevate Chinese-Russian relations to a new level, to counter external uncertainties by preserving stability and resilience of Chinese-Russian relations,” Xi said while addressing Putin.

The pair both vowed to back the U.N.-centered international system ahead of the 80th anniversary this year, and to defend the post-World War II global order – a nod to Putin’s pursuit to reclaim Ukraine in what many have argued is an attempt to re-establish the Soviet Union.

Xi also told Putin about a call he had with Trump on Friday regarding TikTok, trade and Taiwan, according to a report by Reuters.

The Chinese and Russian leaders also reportedly “indicated a willingness to build relations with the United States on a mutually beneficial, mutually respectful basis,” Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters, adding this will happen “if the Trump team really shows interest in this.”

“It was also noted from our side that we are ready for dialogue with the new U.S. administration on the Ukrainian conflict,” he added.

Neither readouts of the call issued by China or Russia directly mentioned Ukraine, though Russia highlighted that Beijing has remained a major supporter of Moscow’s economy as it is the largest consumer of Russian energy resources – a major earner for Putin’s war effort.

“Five years ago, we launched the Power of Siberia gas pipeline together, and today, Russia has become the leading supplier of natural gas to China,” the Kremlin said in a readout.

Though according to Beijing, Moscow did directly address China’s interests in Taiwan and, according to the readout issued by the Chinese Communist Party, “Russia firmly supports Taiwan as an integral part of China’s territory and firmly opposes any form of ‘Taiwan independence.’”

“I believe that the past year was very good for us,” Putin said. “It can be said confidently that our foreign policy ties and Russia and China’s joint efforts objectively play a major stabilizing role in international affairs.”
