Duffy blasts Buttigieg: ‘Mayor Pete failed for 4 years’

Current Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy slammed former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a post on X, accusing the Biden-era official of “mismanagement.”

He leveled the criticism when responding to a post in which Buttigieg wrote, “The flying public needs answers. How many FAA personnel were just fired? What positions? And why?”

Duffy responded, blasting Buttigieg.

“Mayor Pete failed for four years to address the air traffic controller shortage and upgrade our outdated, World War II-era air traffic control system. In less than four weeks, we have already begun the process and are engaging the smartest minds in the entire world,” Duffy declared.

Prior to serving in the Biden administration, Buttigieg served as the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

“Here’s the truth: the FAA alone has a staggering 45,000 employees. Less than 400 were let go, and they were all probationary, meaning they had been hired less than a year ago. Zero air traffic controllers and critical safety personnel were let go,” Duffy continued.

He accused Buttigieg of utilizing the Department of Transportation “as a slush fund for the green new scam and environmental justice nonsense,” and claimed “that over 90% of the workforce under his leadership were working from home – including him. The building was empty!”

“When we finally get a full accounting of his mismanagement, I look forward to hearing from him,” he declared.

Buttigieg fired back, “At least one of the claims here (concerning telework rates) is demonstrably false, so forgive us for seeking more specifics on the rest. Is the Secretary claiming, and will he show, that none of the hundreds of FAA personnel he just fired were important to safety?”

In a post on Sunday, Duffy had indicated that individuals from SpaceX were slated to visit the Air Traffic Control System Command Center on Monday.

Dion Jordan, former highly touted NFL prospect, owns up to failed success at pro level

Dion Jordan was a highly touted NFL prospect coming out of college in 2013 and was treated as such.

The Miami Dolphins selected Jordan with the No. 3 pick of the draft that year, but his career did not go exactly the way anyone planned. The former defensive end had three sacks in 26 games for the Dolphins and was then suspended in 2015 for violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

He reappeared in the league in 2017 with the Seattle Seahawks, securing four sacks in five games, but it was not enough to revive his career as a starter. He played for the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers before leaving the league following the 2020 season.

Jordan, 34, came to grips with the failure of meeting those high expectations.

“I didn’t have my life in order. My life outside of ball wasn’t in balance,” he said in a recent interview on “The Fish Tank” podcast. “You know, it wasn’t what it needed to be to match all of that stuff and I struggled, dude. I struggled coming in. I struggled understanding the plays and the playbook.

“When I left the facility, it didn’t help because I’m out partying. I’m enjoying the money I have, and I’m just putting myself behind the eight-ball. I’m hurt, you know. Sometimes I’m missing my rehabs, so that’s not helping.”

Jordan made clear that it was no one else’s fault but his own for the way his NFL career panned out. He is now an assistant at Eureka College in Illinois to help teach the next generation.

Nonprofit calling on Trump HHS, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to reform ‘failed’ National Human Trafficking Hotline

A group of anti-human trafficking advocates called “Safe House Project” is urging the Trump administration and Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to reform the National Human Trafficking Hotline.

The hotline, which is run by HHS, was started in 2007 to provide 24/7 help for victims of human trafficking.

According to Safe House Project, which offers victims a range of services, including a network of shelters, the hotline has “lost all credibility” and simply does not accomplish the goal of ending human trafficking.

After Kennedy cleared a committee vote on Tuesday, bringing him one step closer to confirmation, the nonprofit released a statement celebrating the step, saying that “our nation is in dire need of leadership that will restore it [the hotline] to fulfill its purpose of identifying victims of trafficking, supporting victims escaping from their traffickers, and helping bring swift justice to those who abuse and victimize desperate and vulnerable populations.”

In line with the Department of Government Efficiency’s mission to slash government waste, Safe House Project says HHS can reform the hotline to conserve its tax-dollar funding and save more lives at the same time.

“The American taxpayers funded the National Human trafficking hotline, and the reality is it has failed,” Safe House Project CEO Kristi Wells told Fox News Digital.

Wells claimed that people who call the hotline often have to wait upwards of 45 minutes, resulting in many people hanging up before even reporting a human trafficking incident. She also said that in many instances, hotline staff fail to return calls or to share tips with law enforcement.

If he is confirmed by the Senate, Wells said Kennedy will have a “phenomenal opportunity” to save thousands of lives by moving quickly to increase the efficiency of the hotline.

“The National Human Trafficking Hotline, again, has the potential to save thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of lives,” she continued. “And so, [since] the Department of Health and Human Services is the one that oversees the effectiveness of the hotline, it’s really important that the current administration prioritizes and really holds the current hotline accountable and making sure that the services are operating the way that they need to be operating.”

In place of the current hotline, Wells is urging HHS to leverage modern technology – such as cellphone apps and AI – to create a new system that is “fast, actionable and easy to use.”

After conducting extensive research with law enforcement entities and related NGOs, Wells said she believes a new system could be created using modern technology that would make the tax dollars being spent by the government on this go much further and accomplish more.

“When you’re leveraging technology, you are really creating efficiencies of scale and really increasing scale,” she said. “And so, I don’t believe that this is a solution that would cost the government more money. I think it would allow them to use the dollars that are currently being spent on a national hotline more effectively and see more effective results.”

Wells said the Trump administration “has already shown an encouraging willingness to tackle human trafficking,” but noted, “We want to do our part to make sure that this is a top priority for them and make sure that correct actions are taken to bring victims out of the shadows, to increase reporting and to increase law enforcement and prosecution of traffickers and buyers.”

“Human trafficking is happening all around us and we as community members have the opportunity to identify and respond to human trafficking and a new tool is really vital to us making sure that that happens,” she continued. “Whenever we have proper reporting mechanisms and we are ‘seeing something and saying something,’ then this idea that human trafficking is undercover and goes undetected is no longer the reality.”

“The reality is we’ll be able to see it more and when we start seeing it more, we’re able to empower our lawmakers with more effective data to create more effective policies. And so, I am excited about the trajectory that a more robust reporting mechanism can bring to the objective of eradicating trafficking in America.”

Chiefs fans react to team’s failed 3rd consecutive Super Bowl title bid

The Eagles got off to a strong start on Sunday and built a 24-0 first half lead in Super Bowl LIX. Philadelphia would never look back and cruised to a 40-22 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs — the team that had won the two previous Super Bowls.

Three-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes faced pressure throughout the game, with Eagles defenders sacking the quarterback six times. Mahomes also threw a pick-six in the first half which brought the score to 17-0 following a successful point after attempt.

“Everybody is very somber. A lot of people have left. Once it started going downhill, but the true fans are going to stick it out with us,” one person told WHO-13 news in reference to a local watch party where groups of Chiefs fans gathered.

“And I’m disappointed in the Chiefs’ fans that left. I’m like, you know, if you’re a fan, be a fan. Stay true to the end,” another fan told the outlet. “A lot of people left early. So, I feel like those people shouldn’t be allowed back here in the future.”

Pictures from a watch party at Kansas City’s Power and Light District showed a sparse number of fans remaining with just under ten minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of the game.

Earlier in the game, some Chiefs fans did seem to try to hold on the hope that Kansas City would be able to manufacture a comeback.

“If Patrick Mahomes wants to be known as the GOAT, he’ll have to do what Tom Brady did and have a miracle comeback to win the Super Bowl. Tom Brady had 28-3 Can Patrick Mahomes have 24-0?” a social media user opined on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Brady helped the New England Patriots overcome a 25-point deficit in an overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl winner and FOX Sports lead analyst, was in the broadcast booth for Super Bowl LIX. Lead FOX NFL voice Kevin Burkhardt along with reporters Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi and rules analyst Mike Pereira, made up the rest of the broadcast team.

Energy experts blast failed billion-dollar DOE project as ‘financial boondoggle,’ ‘disaster’

A major solar power plant project that was granted over a billion dollars in federal loans is on the road to closure, with energy experts blasting the project as a “boondoggle” that harmed the environment.

In 2011, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under former President Barack Obama issued $1.6 billion in loan guarantees to finance the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility, a green energy project that consists of three solar concentrating thermal power plants in California.

The facility was touted by then-Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz as an “example of how America is becoming a world leader in solar energy.” But after 10 years, the federally funded plant is now on track to close.

“Ivanpah is yet another failed green energy boondoggle, much like Solyndra,” Jason Isaac, CEO of the American Energy Institute, an American energy advocacy group, told Fox News Digital in a statement. “Despite receiving $1.6 billion in federal loan guarantees, it never lived up to its promises, producing less electricity than expected while still relying on natural gas to stay operational.”

“Now, with its power contracts canceled, Ivanpah stands as a testament to the waste and inefficiency of government-subsidized energy schemes,” Isaac said.

Ivanpah consists of three individual units, two of which were contracted by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) in 2009 and scheduled to run until 2039.

In January, PG&E announced plans to cancel its agreement with Ivanpah 14 years early, determining that “ending the agreements at this time will save customers money compared to the cost of keeping them through 2039” – ultimately putting Ivanpah on notice for closure.

“The Ivanpah plant was a financial boondoggle and environmental disaster,” Julia Dowell of the Sierra Club, an environmental activism group, said of the power plant.

“Along with killing thousands of birds and tortoises, the project’s construction destroyed irreplaceable pristine desert habitat along with numerous rare plant species,” Dowell said. “While the Sierra Club strongly supports innovative clean energy solutions and recognizes the urgent need to transition away from fossil fuels, Ivanpah demonstrated that not all renewable technologies are created equal.”

This comes after another DOE-funded green energy project, Solyndra, went bankrupt in 2011 after receiving $535 million in federal loan guarantees from the Obama administration.

“Green projects have a long history of expensive taxpayer-subsidized disaster that is getting more so,” Steve Milloy, senior fellow at the Energy & Environmental Legal Institute and former Trump EPA transition team member, said in a statement to Fox.

Milloy suggested that further green energy failures could come from projects funded by recent Democrat-backed legislation that aims to push the green energy agenda.

“Soon we will be looking at failures of larger magnitude than Green New Deal spending. No green project relying on taxpayer subsidies has ever made any economic or environmental sense,” Milloy said. “It’s important that President Trump stop the taxpayer bleeding by ending what he accurately calls the Green New Scam.”

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova says she hates ‘Democrats totally failed’ on protecting women’s sports

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova criticized Democrats on Wednesday after President Donald Trump signed an executive order to protect girls and women’s sports.

Trump signed the “No Men in Women’s Sports” executive order from the East Room of the White House. The order gave federal agencies the power to ensure that entities receiving federal funding abide by original Title IX standards.

Navratilova, a lifelong Democrat who has championed fairness in women’s sports, ridiculed the other side of the aisle for failing to do what the president did.

“I hate that the Democrats totally failed women and girls on this very clear issue of women’s sports being for females only,” she wrote in a post on X.

It is not the first time Navratilova criticized the political party for not doing more to protect women’s sports. She expressed her frustration last month when the House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Only two Democrats voted with Republicans on the bill.

“More Dems need to step up here. I know many who agree but are scared to speak up because of re-election. I say do the right thing. Grow a spine,” she wrote on X.

Before Trump signed the executive order, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt implored the Senate to take the bill up for a vote because executive orders could be overturned.

“It’s incredibly important Congress immediately acts on this priority,” Leavitt added. “I think the president is really setting the tone, making this a very immediate priority for this administration, just as he promised to do on the campaign trail.”

Falcons’ Jeff Ulbrich says lack of truth-telling, delegation led to failed stint as Jets interim head coach

Former New York Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich says a lack of truth-telling and his failure to delegate ultimately led to his failed stint as interim head coach and another disappointing season for the organization.

Speaking to the media at his introductory press conference as the Atlanta Falcons’ new defensive coordinator, Ulbrich was asked to reflect on his period with the Jets after taking over as head coach once Robert Saleh was fired just five games into the season.

“I learned even more than I knew the value of truth-tellers on your staff. I think sometimes as an assistant coach you take it as ‘I’m going to eliminate every problem from the head coach’s table so he can just thrive and do his thing.’ When in reality… there’s certain things that need to be told to the head coach that are occurring.”

Ulbrich seemed to suggest that the lack of honesty from his coaching staff during that period was a major contributing factor to the Jets’ failures.

“The lack of truth sometimes was really detrimental.”

Ulbrich also took accountability for his failure to delegate, specifically his defensive coordinator responsibilities.

“There is an element of a failure for myself in that way because I didn’t delegate. I didn’t. I just took it all on myself. In my mind’s eye, I was trying to create continuity and I didn’t want to fracture the staff.

Ulbrich is returning to Atlanta after serving as an assistant there from 2015-2020. He also reunites with Raheem Morris, who served as Atlanta’s interim coach for the final 11 games of 2020.
