Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair David Hogg took heat on social media on Monday as he criticized President Donald Trump for his appearance at the Daytona 500.

Trump was at Daytona International Speedway for the event and became the first president to be at the race twice. He was in the presidential limousine, “The Beast,” as it led drivers on a pace lap before the green flag dropped. He also delivered a personal message to racers as well.

As Trump said the spirit of NASCAR and its fans will “fuel America’s Golden Age,” Hogg claimed the president’s decision to go to the race was nothing more than a “publicity stunt.”

“Driving in circles for a multi million dollar publicity stunt while claiming you care so much about ‘efficiency’ as thousands are illegally fired from their jobs and prices continue to climb is the perfect symbolism for the Trump admin,” Hogg wrote on X.

The DNC official faced criticism for his remarks.

Hogg took over as the DNC vice chair earlier this month. He rose to prominence as a survivor of the 2018 Parkland, Florida, school shooting and founded a political action committee in 2023, which he said aims to help young progressives get elected to Congress and state legislatures across the country.

Trump praised NASCAR drivers during his appearance at the race.

“They have a lot of courage doing this. I see it and I’ve been here,” the president told FOX Sports’ Jamie Little. “They have a lot of guts, as they would say.”

Trump, who was joined on the track by his granddaughter, highlighted the progress of the United States since he started his second term as president.

“I think it’s fantastic. I think it’s great for the country,” he said. “The country is doing well again. We have spirit all over the world. There’s spirit again, we brought it back and it’s been less than four weeks. You’ll see what we do in a little period of time. It’s gonna only get better. But this is very exciting.”

  • DNC’s new vice chair David Hogg’s ‘INSANE’ tweets going viral

DNC’s new vice chair David Hogg’s ‘INSANE’ tweets going viral

Newly elected Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair David Hogg, a 24-year-old gun control activist and emerging voice in the Democratic Party, is the DNC’s first Gen Z vice chair. He has the digital footprint to prove it.

“Are you ready to go on the offense? We have to win back our young people. I’m the only candidate in this race for any of these positions that is under 30. We had a 20-point shift to the right of our young people. We must show our young people we give a damn about them, that we support them, and we invest in them,” Hogg said at the DNC’s Winter Meeting.

Yet, Hogg could be backed into a defensive position as he assumes his new role as vice chair.

“I have raised over $11 million in the past year to support the future of our party because I don’t just tweet,” Hogg said. “I don’t just talk the talk. I also walk the walk, and I knock the knock on doors around this country.”

Hogg’s old posts have gone viral as conservative activists have sounded the alarm about his past policy positions and rhetoric against conservatives.

In 2022, he rallied around several left-wing positions, including “legalizing all drugs” and “supporting a 100% tax after your first billion.”

“How radical you ask? I don’t think anybody should have over $1 billion in assets there should be a 100% tax after your first billion,” Hogg posted on X in April 2022. “I think we need to do what Australia did in regards to guns. We need universal healthcare Free college for all Legalize all drugs.”

Months later, he said he would prefer to own a Porsche than have kids, claiming it is better for the environment.

“Like me? I’m never planning on having kids. I would much rather own a Porsche and have a Portuguese water dog and golden doodle,” Hogg posted on X in September 2022. “Long term it’s cheaper, better for The environment and will never tell you that it hates you or ask you to pay for college.”

Hogg also acknowledged in 2022 that “any politician doing anything with me is in effect committing political suicide.”

Conservatives on X are calling out the irony of the DNC now electing him to a leadership position.

Many have pointed to Hogg’s progressive views on masculinity as a turnoff to young male voters.

In 2021, Hogg called to “abolish ICE” and “defund the police not USPS.”

Upon accepting the new DNC leadership position, X users are calling out Hogg for his 2022 post that said, “We have enough straight white men in power. It’d be nice to see some people who actually look like our country and not privilege.”

DEMOCRATS ELECT NEW CHAIR WHO BRANDED TRUMP A ‘TRAITOR’ AS PARTY AIMS TO REBOUND FROM DISASTROUS 2024 ELECTION

X users also argued Hogg’s nomination proves the Democratic Party is out of touch with its electorate.

Conservatives have also trolled Hogg’s nomination, arguing that “He will help Republicans win for years to come.”

Hogg garnered national attention in 2018 as a co-founder of March for Our Lives, a student-led organization launched by survivors of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Since 2018, Hogg has become a voice of young Democrats in the mainstream media as he continues his advocacy work. After graduating from Harvard in 2023, Hogg co-founded Leaders We Deserve, a political action committee promoting young progressive candidates for state and federal office.

Air ambulance service involved in Philadelphia plane crash once flew MLB icon David Ortiz after he got shot

A medical transport jet headed for Missouri and carrying a child patient and five others crashed in Northeast Philadelphia Friday night.

The jet was part of the Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, which provides global ambulance flight services.

It’s the same service that once helped transport Boston Red Sox legend and MLB Hall of Famer David Ortiz with a critical injury after he was shot in his home country of the Dominican Republic June 9, 2019, at a bar in Santo Domingo.

Ortiz was severely wounded but survived emergency surgery.

A portion of Ortiz’s intestines, colon and gallbladder were removed, and he also reportedly had liver damage. The next day, a Jet Rescue plane transported Ortiz to Boston, where he received further treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital, including a second surgery.

Ortiz was moved out of the intensive care unit on June 22, 2019, and he was released from the hospital over a month later on July 26, 2019.

The suspected shooter was later identified as Rolfi Ferreira-Cruz, but an investigation also found Ortiz was not the intended target. The Dominican Attorney General announced June 19, 2019, Ortiz was shot by mistake, and Sixto David Fernandez was identified as the intended target of the shooting.

On Friday, Jet Rescue said it’s Learjet 55 crashed while departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport around 6:30 p.m.

“Our immediate concern is for the patient’s family, our personnel, their families and other victims that may have been hurt on the ground,” Jet Rescue Air Ambulance said in a statement.

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to react to the tragedy.

“So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost. Our people are totally engaged,” Trump wrote. “First Responders are already being given credit for doing a great job. More to follow. God Bless you all.”

The crash comes just days after an American Airlines passenger plane collided with an Army Black Hawk Helicopter near Reagan National Airport, killing 67 people.

  • Trump crypto czar David Sacks touts president’s executive order, says Biden drove industry offshore

Trump crypto czar David Sacks touts president’s executive order, says Biden drove industry offshore

President Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency czar, David Sacks, is celebrating after the president signed an executive order seeking to clarify regulations in the industry on Thursday, hailing his embrace of the industry while slamming the Biden administration for driving it away.

In an exclusive interview with FOX Business’ “The Evening Edit” on Friday, Sacks said Trump’s actions showed he is following through on his campaign promise to make the U.S. the “crypto capital” of the world.

Sacks said that Trump’s crypto EO directs his working group to produce a regulatory framework to encourage innovation and crypto in the U.S., rather than driving the industry to other countries.

PROMINENT PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTMENTS MOUNT AMID TRUMP’S RETURN TO THE WHITE HOUSE

“For the last four years, the Biden administration has basically prosecuted and persecuted crypto companies, really driving them offshore,” Sacks told host Edward Lawrence. “I’ve heard so many outrageous stories by founders, by entrepreneurs, the Biden administration would not tell them what the rules of the road were, and they would then get prosecuted. And what the industry wants more than anything else is regulatory clarity.”

    David Sacks

“They’re saying, just tell us what the rules are. We will abide by them,” Sacks said. And the Biden administration would never do that. And because of that, all the innovation was basically moving offshore, and America was about to lose this technology of the future.”

Trump’s order establishes the Presidential Working Group on Digital Asset Markets, which will develop a federal regulatory framework for digital assets, including stablecoins, and evaluate the creation of a strategic national digital assets stockpile. It will be chaired by the White House AI and crypto czar and include the treasury secretary, the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as well as other relevant department and agency heads.
