Tristan Thompson responds to Raptors coach Darko Rajaković’s suggestion Cavaliers star lacked class

On Wednesday, Toronto Raptors coach Darko Rajaković described veteran Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson as a “no-class” player after the Cavs’ 131-108 win over the Raptors.

Rajaković also suggested Thompson’s actions showed a lack of respect.

“I think what Tristan did there was no class and disrespectful,” Rajaković said during a postgame press conference. “I’m not going to stand for that, for sure. I love when my team stands up for themselves. That was no class.”

Rajaković was irked by Thompson’s two-handed slam in the final seconds of the game.

Thompson took to social media Thursday to share his response to Rajaković’s remarks. Thompson asserted that the Raptors engaged in a “full court press” even as Toronto was trailing by double-digits late in the game.

“You wanna full court press with under a minute left in the game when you get cracked by 30 this will happen to you. Lose for draft lottery and be happy buddy boy. Hopefully you and most of your guys see the light at the end of Bobby and Masai long term plan. Bless up stay warm in MY CITY,” Thompson wrote on X Feb. 13.

Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson said he didn’t understand Thompson’s thought process at the time, but he also did not believe there were “bad intentions” behind the dunk.

“I’m not sure what he was thinking,” Atkinson said. “Sometimes, though, you’re playing the game, and you just have a reaction. I know with Tristan, there’s no bad intention there. I think just sometimes you’re playing, and the goal of the game is to score. Unfortunate.”

Yankees manager takes shot at Dodgers, alleges lack of ‘class’ with World Series title talk

If the New York Yankees played clean defense in the World Series, there is a very decent chance they could have been headed to Los Angeles with a 3-2 series lead.

But, they lost Games 1 and 5 largely in part to poor fielding, and thus, the Los Angeles Dodgers were champs, winning the Fall Classic in the Bronx.

After winning it all, many members of the Dodgers were quick to remind everyone of just how they did it – by taking advantage of the Yankees’ mistakes (and the Fat Joe curse).

It was even reported that the Dodgers studied the Yankees’ defensive and baserunning shortcomings en route to their 4-1 series victory.

Well, the Yankees have had time to dissect those comments, and with pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training on Tuesday, manager Aaron Boone was asked about the remarks.

He admitted his players took the comments personally, but the Dodgers had a right to say “whatever they want as the champion.”

ALEX BREGMAN ISN’T THE FIRST MLB ALL-STAR WHOSE FREE AGENCY WENT TO FEBRUARY

“I did not like it.… I’m not gonna lie and say I liked it, and hopefully we’re in a position to be where they were. They’re the champs, and the reality is that they have the right to say whatever they want as the champion. Hopefully we’re in that position this time next year, and hopefully we handle it with a little more class,” Boone told Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay on ESPN New York radio.

He added to reporters in Tampa that the Yankees “didn’t play our best in that series, and they won.”

To make matters worse, the Yanks did lose Juan Soto to their crosstown rival Mets in free agency – although he isn’t exactly elite with the glove.

Jared Allen, Antonio Gates headline Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025

Four players were announced as the next class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, Sterling Sharpe, and Eric Allen will be enshrined into Canton this year.

The former edge rusher in Allen recorded 136 sacks in his 12-year career, the 12th-most all time, twice leading the NFL. His career high was the 22 he put up back in 2011, just one sack shy of surpassing lone solo leader Michael Strahan for the most in a season. He was selected to four All-Pro teams during his time with the Chiefs, Vikings, Bears, and Vikings.

Gates was one of the greatest tight ends of his era and a stepping stone into making what the position is today.  His 116 touchdowns are the most ever by a tight end, while his 955 receptions and 11,841 receiving yards are the fourth-most in the position. Spending his entire 16-year career with the Chargers, he made eight consecutive Pro Bowls and will go to Canton after just missing out last year.

Sharpe played just seven seasons in the NFL, but he sure made the most of it. In his career, entirely with the Green Bay Packers, he was named to five Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro three times. Three times he led the NFL in receptions, and twice he led in touchdowns, including his final season when he racked up 18. He recorded five seasons of over 1,100 yards – he put up 595 catches for 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns.

Notable snubs included Adam Vinatieri, Eli Manning, Terrell Suggs, Reggie Wayne, Steve Smith Sr., and Marshal Yanda.

  • Target hit with class action suit claiming they mislead investors over DEI policies

Target hit with class action suit claiming they mislead investors over DEI policies

Target was hit with a class action lawsuit Friday after shareholders alleged the national retailer misled investors about the risks of its DEI initiatives, which led to consumer boycotts and its stock price to tank.

The class action suit, led by the City of Riviera Beach Police Pension Fund, alleges that Target misused investor funds for “political and social goals,” and duped investors into buying stock at “artificially inflated prices.” The suit claims that Target made fraudulent public statements regarding the board overseeing the risks of its DEI initiatives, and the executives and board misled investors about the risks those programs posed.

Target’s stock price plummeted 22% on November 20, 2024, destroying nearly $16 billion in market cap in a single day after the retailer reported disappointing earnings. The dive in prices, came after Target became embroiled in a nation-wide controversy surrounding its DEI and Pride initiatives.

The retailer faced severe backlash in 2023 after they sold “tuck friendly” female-style bathing suits and mugs displaying the term “gender fluid” as part of their Pride store displays. Target executives were forced to hold an emergency meeting as they feared consumer backlash would lead to a “Bud Light” situation. Target’s sales fell 5.4% in the quarter ending Jul 2023, the first time its sales dropped in six years, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit claims that Target’s board only oversaw the risks of not adopting DEI and ESG initiatives, and was only concerned with backlash from the left. The left-wing backlash Target was concerned with was not authentic, the suit alleges, and was instead associated with nonprofit “stakeholders” that the store was actively working with to adopt DEI mandates which were detrimental to the business. The suit claims that the so-called risks posed by these nonprofits was little more than a pretext to establish DEI mandates in the first place.

Additionally, Target’s CEO Brian Cornell and board failed to disclose the “known risks” of the store’s 2023 and 2024 pride campaigns, the lawsuit alleges.

“This deceit, through misleading statements in the Company’s public filings, including its 10-Ks and proxy statements, caused Target’s investors to purchase Target stock at artificially inflated prices and to unknowingly support Target’s Board and management in their misuse of investor funds to serve political and social goals,” the filing stated.

Target allegedly had executives implement their DEI initiatives who had “disabling” conflicts of interest. Senior executive Carlos Saavedra and Vice President and Chief Food and Beverage Officer, Rick Gomez both held positions at the LGBTQ rights organization GLSEN. The lawsuit alleges that these roles imposed “conflicting duties” on the executives.

“Target’s chief diversity officer also indicated her personal commitment to advancing “racial equity” for its own sake, even if it was “provocative,” and singled out “white women” for special obligations to this cause,” the lawsuit claimed.

The company announced it was rolling back its DEI programs in January. In response, organizers of the Twin Cities Pride Festival have announced that the retailer is no longer welcome at the parade.

  • Arizona State’s Bobby Hurley sends team to locker room early after opponent’s ‘no class’ behavior, ejections

Arizona State’s Bobby Hurley sends team to locker room early after opponent’s ‘no class’ behavior, ejections

The final seconds of Saturday’s Arizona State-Arizona game took a little while to finish due to some drama on the court and the benches.

With roughly 30 seconds left in the game and the Wildcats up 81-72, Arizona’s Caleb Love got tangled up with BJ Freeman. The Sun Devil then headbutted Love.

Love and Freeman were ejected, but as the dust continued to settle between both teams, ASU head coach Bobby Hurley ordered all the players on his bench to go to the locker room.

As the Wildcats dribbled out the final seconds, Hurley ordered his assistant coaches to leave the bench, leaving just him on the bench and five Sun Devils on the court.

Seconds before the usual handshake line, Hurley then waved off Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd, and both squads went into their respective locker rooms.

Hurley was asked about the ordeal and said he had no choice but to send his players to the locker room early after his opponents showed “no class.”

“If you look right near our bench, it was relentless constant chatter from a couple of the Arizona players that was not being policed properly. Of course, they’re going to be happy with winning, but it was done with no class, in my opinion,” Hurley said after the game.

“Words that were said back and forth led to the moment where Freeman lost his cool, because of the constant talk that was allowed to go on. I had to make a tough decision in the best interest of our team to get them into the locker room so there would be no further incident the rest of the game and in the handshake line.”

Hurley then finished his press conference with a parting shot, perhaps at Love.

“I do get a vote for the All-Conference, and I can tell you who’s not getting a vote,” he said.

Lloyd called the ordeal “disappointing on all sides.”

“We want to be a program that when tough things happen, we want to respond with class. I don’t know if we did or didn’t, but just a tough moment in an emotional game. I got a lot of respect for Bobby and Arizona State,” Lloyd said.

The Wildcats improved to 15-6 on the season and 9-1 in Big 12 play, while the Sun Devils are 12-9 overall and 3-7 against conference opponents.
