Ravens lineman Ben Cleveland arrested in Georgia on DUI charge

Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Ben Cleveland was arrested on a DUI charge in Georgia last week after law enforcement said he nearly swerved into a ditch, according to multiple reports.

Cleveland, who was drafted out of Georgia by the Ravens in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft, was charged Wednesday with DUI and failure to maintain a lane.

A deputy with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office saw his black pickup truck weaving between lanes at around 10:30 p.m before witnessing that the vehicle “entered the opposite lane of travel, nearly going into the ditch,” the Associated Press reported, citing an incident report.

During the traffic stop, authorities said Cleveland admitted to the deputy that he had consumed between three and four beers while at a nearby country club but had nothing in the last two hours.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the NFL player underwent a series of field sobriety tests, including a breathalyzer, which showed that he had a blood alcohol content of 0.178, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

He was reportedly released the following day on bond.

Cleveland, a standout at Georgia where he was a first-team All-SEC pick, has appeared in 54 games for Baltimore.

Mavericks coach Darrell Armstrong arrested on aggravated assault charge

Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested in the early hours of Saturday and charged with aggravated assault on his girlfriend, police said.

Dallas police officers were called to the 1000 block of Ross Ave. in downtown Dallas around 3:45 a.m., where an investigation found Armstrong and his girlfriend had been in an argument.

At one point, Armstrong hit her with a gun and threatened to shoot her, according to police. An arrest warrant affidavit for Armstrong, obtained by FOX 4 Dallas, said the incident started due to his girlfriend questioning him about a text from another woman.

The victim reportedly told police Armstrong had been drinking that night and demanded she give him her keys to their apartment. She then claimed Armstrong was on the phone with another person when he picked up a pistol and hit her on the side of the face.

Authorities said they saw a mark on the woman’s cheek below her left eye.

“‘I’m going to shoot you,’” the victim said, reportedly quoting what Armstrong allegedly said to her as he loaded the weapon.

The Mavericks released a statement on Sunday afternoon regarding Armstrong’s arrest.

“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident involving a member of our staff and are gathering all relevant information surrounding the incident,” the statement reads, per FOX 4 Dallas. “We take this matter seriously. The employee has been placed on administrative suspension pending the outcome of legal proceedings.

“This matter is currently under review by the appropriate legal authorities. Due to this fact, we will allow the legal process to run its course and we will refrain from further comment while proceedings are ongoing.”

Armstrong has been an assistant coach with the Mavericks since 2009, being a part of the 2011 NBA-champion squad along the way.

He is a member of the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame, having spent nine of his 14 NBA seasons with the franchise. Armstrong initially played overseas from 1991-94 before the Magic gave him a shot during the 1994-95 season.

Armstrong went on to win the 1998-99 Most Improved Player Award and Sixth Man of the Year Award after averaging 13.8 points, 6.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds mostly off the bench over 50 games.

Panama eliminates charge fees for U.S. government vessels

The U.S. State Department on Wednesday announced a new deal with the government of Panama that will eliminate charge fees for U.S. government vessels.

“The government of Panama has agreed to no longer charge fees for U.S. government vessels to transit the Panama Canal,” the State Department wrote in an X post Wednesday night.

The new agreement will save the U.S. government millions of dollars a year, officials noted.

Panama President José Raúl Mulino promised on Sunday to end a key development deal with China after meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

During his visit, former Florida Senator Rubio wrote in a post on X that “the United States cannot, and will not, allow the Chinese Communist Party to continue with its effective and growing control over the Panama Canal area.”

President Donald Trump, who has openly criticized the six-figure premiums imposed on U.S. ships traveling through, has suggested repurchasing the canal.

More than 70 percent of all vessels traveling through the canal are inbound or outbound to U.S. ports, according to the State Department. It is also a key transit point for U.S. Coast Guard and Department of Defense vessels.

Ships would need to travel 8,000 additional miles around South America to avoid using the pathway.

Marcus Jordan speeds away from officers before arrest on drug charge in Florida, dashcam video shows

Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, was seen speeding away from Florida law enforcement officers before his vehicle was found stuck on railroad tracks, dashcam video showed.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office dashcam video showed Jordan in his Lamborghini sports utility vehicle speeding away from deputies before he was later arrested.

Officers with the Maitland Police Department found the vehicle immobile on the tracks in the suburb with a commuter train about 10 minutes away. The SUV’s tires were buried in dirt and rock from being spun repeatedly, according to an arrest report.

Jordan was arrested on multiple charges, including cocaine possession and resisting an officer without violence.

When Jordan was asked to get out of the vehicle after smelling alcohol, officials said they noticed his slurred speech and confusion. The arrest report said officers found a bag of what tested positive for cocaine in his pants.

“Bro, I’m Marcus Jordan. I’m Michael Jordan’s son,” he told officers, according to the New York Post. “I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m just trying to get home. And I made a wrong turn, OK?”

Jordan was booked into the Orange County Jail and refused to talk to reporters when he was released Tuesday. Fox News Digital reached out to his representatives for comment.

The 34-year-old is the second-eldest child of the former Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards star. Marcus played high school basketball and later tried his hand at college basketball at the University of Central Florida.

He ended up leaving the program in 2012 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree at The Rosen College of Hospitality Management in 2013.

Marcus has laid low for the most part. He was thrust into the spotlight about two years ago when he began dating Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of his father’s teammate Scottie Pippen. The relationship lasted for about two years as the couple broke up in 2024.

He has had a brush with the law in the past. He pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in an incident in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2012. He was also charged with obstructing a police officer, but the charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.

DC Councilmember Trayon White faces possible expulsion vote over federal bribery charge

Washington, D.C., City Councilmember Trayon White is facing potential expulsion from city leadership amid an ongoing corruption trial on alleged bribery charges.

The FBI arrested White in August 2024, alleging that he took over $150,000 in bribes to influence the city’s contracting. While the trial has yet to begin, the FBI revealed evidence showing White accepting envelopes full of cash from a bureau informant. The city council will vote on White’s expulsion later Tuesday.

“This is quintessential corruption,” Council Chairman Phil Mendelson said in a December statement. “There is only one remedy: to remove the corruption from our body. This incident has damaged the public trust necessary for government to function well.”

Despite the charges and evidence leveled against him, White was re-elected to the city council in November, just three months after his arrest. His federal trial is set to begin in January 2026. He has pleaded not guilty.

“I feel confident that the people of Ward 8 have spoken. I feel like I’m going to win by a landslide but I’m still humbled and prayerful. I hope [it] sends a loud message to the D.C. Council about keeping the decisions in the hands of the people.” White told WJLA on Election Day after results made it clear he would win.

White’s expulsion would require a unanimous vote of the 11 other members of the city council, and public statements from councilmembers don’t look good for White.

“Councilmember White betrayed the trust of his staff, the council, the agencies and, above all, the residents of Ward 8,” Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, a Democrat, said at a preliminary hearing last week.

Mendelson, also a Democrat, echoed McDuffie’s skepticism in a statement.

“The public [has to] have trust in the government, they have to have trust in the legislature, they have to have trust in those who are elected,” he said.

Other members expressed hope that White would resign before the council is forced to take action.

“I wish he would resign,” said Councilmember Robert C. White Jr., also a Democrat, according to the Washington Post. “If you broke the council rules, and you know you broke the council rules, to put the council through this is something to think about.”

DC Councilmember Trayon White faces expulsion hearing over federal bribery charge

The Washington D.C. councilmember accused by federal authorities of accepting $156,000 in bribes is facing an expulsion hearing Tuesday.

The legislative body “will hold a Public Hearing on the following Matter: Expulsion of Councilmember Trayon White, Sr. for Code of Conduct Violations” starting at noon local time, it says on its website.

Last month, Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie said an investigative report found “substantial evidence” that White’s alleged conduct connected to the bribery claims violated several provisions of the D.C. Council’s Code of Official Conduct, FOX 5 DC reported.

The Justice Department, citing a criminal complaint charging White with bribery, alleges that “beginning in June 2024, White corruptly agreed to accept $156,000 in cash payments in exchange for using his position as a D.C. Councilmember to pressure government employees at [the] Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement and [the] D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services to extend several D.C. contracts.”

White, who has pleaded not guilty to those allegations, reportedly faces up to 15 years in prison if he is convicted. A jury trial in that case is set for January 2026.

In November, he easily won re-election to his seat.

At today’s hearing, White will hear evidence against him and have an opportunity to defend himself, according to WTOP.

“White may be represented by a person of his choice, whether or not the person is an attorney, and may have that representative speak or question witnesses on his behalf,” the station cited D.C. Council documents as saying.

For White to be expelled, 11 of the council’s 13 members would need to vote in favor of doing so, WTOP added.
