Brett Favre reveals Super Bowl LIX prediction – and its similar to Trump’s

Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre has made his pick for the winner of Super Bowl LIX.

Favre revealed his pick in a video post on X, but prefaced his prediction by saying, “I’m not a betting man.”

“I’m not a betting man, but if I were, I would put my money on the Chiefs, and I’m not saying [that] because I want them to win or I don’t want them to win, I’m just saying they find a way to win,” Favre said.

The Chiefs are currently 1.5-point favorites and are also the official pick of President Donald Trump, who revealed his prediction of a Kansas City win during a pre-Super Bowl Fox News interview on Sunday.

Favre has been aligned with Trump on many political beliefs in recent years, and now they also share an expectation for a historic Chiefs win. If Kansas City does pull off the victory, it will be the first team in history to win three straight Super Bowls.

Many Chiefs critics have pointed out that while the Chiefs won a franchise-record 15 games and made it back to the Super Bowl, many of their wins came by very small margins.

But for Favre, this is even more of a reason to believe in the Chiefs.

“I’ve had people say, ‘Well, they won 15 games in the last second,’ and I go ‘But they won 15 games in the last second,’” Favre said. “And until someone knocks them off the pedestal, I have to go with the Chiefs.”

Still, the legendary quarterback added one caveat to his pick.

“It just so happens that, in my opinion, the best team that is built to beat the Chiefs is representing the NFC, the Eagles,” Favre said. “The Eagles could beat them, they very well could beat them.”

But the reason Favre has to go with the Chiefs is because of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“Patrick Mahomes is prolific with or without receivers, he can make it happen, so good teams find a way to win,” Favre said.”

NFL great Brett Favre praises Trump for taking action to protect women’s sports

Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre praised President Donald Trump on Thursday after he signed an executive order this week effectively banning transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.

Trump signed the “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” order on Wednesday, which will require entities that receive federal funding to align with Title IX, which the Trump administration changed last week to recognize protections on the basis of biological sex – undoing former President Joe Biden’s 2024 rewrite.

“I appreciate President @realDonaldTrump signing an initiative to keep biological boys from competing against females,” Favre said in a post on X of the executive order. “It’s sad that this had to happen in this day and age, but glad it was done.”

Favre also thanked Gaines, who hosts OutKick’s “Gaines for Girls” podcast, for “being part of this initiative to help push this forward.”

Surrounded by female athletes, Trump declared at the signing ceremony that “the war on women’s sports is over.”

In response to the executive order, NCAA President Charlie Baker said the Board of Governors would review it and take steps to align the organization’s policy in the coming days.

“The NCAA is an organization made up of 1,100 colleges and universities in all 50 states that collectively enroll more than 530,000 student-athletes,” the statement read.

“We strongly believe that clear, consistent and uniform eligibility standards would best serve today’s student-athletes instead of a patchwork of conflicting state laws and court decisions. To that end, President Trump’s order provides a clear, national standard.”

Trump has also turned his attention to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ahead of the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

The pressure comes amid an impending leadership change at the IOC. Current President Thomas Bach is due to retire and the top candidate to replace him, Sebastian Coe, has spoken publicly about his position to protect women’s sports.

Brett Favre says viral confrontation with Mark Gastineau about NFL sack record was a ‘setup’

A video went viral back in December that featured Mark Gastineau confronting Brett Favre in 2023 about Michael Strahan sacking the Green Bay Packers legend to break Gastineau’s single-season sack record.

In the final game of the 2001 season, Favre appeared to fall onto the field before being tackled by Strahan, giving the New York Giants legend the record. (It’s since been tied by T.J. Watt.) Gastineau accused Favre of taking a “dive,” and the play remains controversial.

Gastineau met Favre at a memorabilia event last year, saying that Favre had “hurt” him and that he was going to “take my sack back” in a heated exchange.

The confrontation was featured in ESPN’s 30 for 30, “New York Sack Exchange;” not coincidentally, Favre said he believes the meeting had been planned by “ESPN and/or NFL Films.”

“There are athletes from all sports; generally, it’s retired guys. So, you encounter a lot of different guys, but I had no clue, and I really think that was a setup by ESPN and/or NFL Films,” Favre told Mihcele Tafoya on her podcast.

Favre said he had spotted a camera “hiding” above a “divider,” and admitted he had been a bit worried.

“He actually came right to the table – he’s still a big guy. . . .Honestly, I was thinking, the last thing I want to have to do is fight this guy right here,” Favre said.

The Hall of Fame QB added that he felt Gastineau “wasn’t all there” due to his history of concussions.

Favre took to X shortly after the confrontation went viral, in an attempt to “clear the air,” admitting that it “maybe” had “crossed my mind to help Strahan,” but he was not trying to “hurt” Gastineau.

“I booted out of a run thinking it would be wide open, saw Strahan standing there and ducked down. The game was over. There was no need for me to do anything spectacular. It probably wasn’t Michael’s best sack or tackle for loss. In a different game or situation, I would have made a bigger effort to avoid the sack or TFL. But at no point was I thinking about hurting Gastineau,” Favre pleaded.

Favre added that the incident was “not the kind of moment that should be filmed and released.”

Brett Favre reflects on Saints’ bounty scandal that rewarded players who injured him

NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre was once a target of a bounty hunting scheme by the New Orleans Saints and opened up 15 years later about that experience in a thread on X Friday.

In 2009, the Saints offered their players cash incentives to injure certain players. Favre, quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings at that time, was on that list.

The Vikings were considered the top obstacle in the NFC for the Saints to reach the Super Bowl that year.

The Saints beat Favre and the Vikings in the NFC championship game that year, a 31-28 overtime thriller. Favre was never injured, but he took multiple hard hits and ended up throwing a costly interception in overtime.

Favre said he held no “ill will” toward the Saints for the scandal and wished he played better in the game.

“I played the game with the mindset to be prepared for anything: big hits, injuries, and players trying to knock my head off. I never made excuses for the times I wasn’t successful and played the game within the ruleset. In fact, losing just made me want to work harder and fueled my drive to win next time,” Favre wrote.

“I don’t have any ill-will towards those involved in Bounty Gate. After we lost to the Saints, I rooted for Drew Brees and Sean Payton to win the Super Bowl. Looking back 15 years later, my opinion hasn’t changed. If I could have some of those plays back and done my part, maybe we would have been the ones celebrating a championship victory in 2010.”

The Saints won the Super Bowl that year against the Indianapolis Colts.

But once the scandal was uncovered, the Saints received some of the harshest sanctions in NFL history. Former head coach Sean Payton was suspended a year without pay.

Defensive coordinator Greg Williams, identified as the brains of the plan, was suspended indefinitely but was later reinstated. Former general manager Mickey Loomis was suspended for the first eight games of the 2012 season, and assistant head coach Joe Vitt was suspended for the first six games of that year.

Former Saints players Scott Fujita, Anthony Hargrove, Will Smith and Jonathan Vilma were all suspended for their roles.

The Saints also had to pay a $500,000 fine and forfeit their second-round picks in the 2012 and 2013 drafts

The team’s bounty hunting plan involved as many as 27 players and at least one assistant coach, the league found in its investigation. Players even contributed to a cash pool.

The players were paid $1,500 for a “knockout,” when a targeted player couldn’t return to the game, and $1,000 for a “cart-off,” when a player had to be carried off the field.
