When the puck dropped in Montreal’s Bell Centre on Saturday night, Team Canada’s Brandon Hagel dropped his gloves along with Team USA’s Matthew Tkachuk.
It was the first of three fights that took place between the hockey rivals in nine seconds for their 4 Nations Face-Off matchup.
Because of the aggression and fists flying, not to mention the aggressive checking from both benches throughout the 3-1 win for the United States, many are wondering if we’re going to expect more of the same on Thursday night in Boston for the tournament’s championship game.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Hagel said that his decision to fight Tkachuk the moment the game started wasn’t to put on a show for those in the seats and watching at home.
There was pride for country.
“Listen, what happened the other night, I did it for the flag and not for the cameras,” Hagel said.

Before that fight occurred, there was a lot of tension from Canadian fans booing the U.S. national anthem. Both teams have a strong sense of pride for the country they wear on their sweaters, so it’s understandable why Tkachuk, his brother, Brady, and J.T. Miller all fought someone in the first nine seconds of the game.
For Hagel’s bout, he was seen egging on the crowd after getting back on his skates, trying to use home ice to Canada’s advantage.

With roles reversed this time, as Team USA will be playing in Boston’s TD Garden against Team Canada, Hagel expects the same sense of pride from both squads.
“I think it’s going to be the same way,” he said.
Whether that means immediate fights remains to be seen.
Matthew Tkachuk admitted that he “didn’t like it” when Canadian fans booed during “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and after hearing a mixture of cheers and boos on Monday night during Team Canada’s matchup with Team Finland in the TD Garden, the U.S. fans could reciprocate on Thursday night.

Either way, Team Canada is looking for revenge and bragging rights as winners of this tournament after allowing three unanswered goals, with Connor McDavid’s goal kicking off the scoring, on Saturday night.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham tore his triceps 11 weeks ago, putting his season, possibly his career, in jeopardy.
Now he will play in the Super Bowl.
Graham, 36, was activated off injured reserve Saturday and will return for Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Graham said before the season that this season would be the final one of his 17-year career. The injury to his triceps Nov. 24 against the Los Angeles Rams had Graham facing a possible premature end to his career.
The defensive end returned to practice as a limited participant last week and was listed as questionable in Friday’s practice.
“It’ll feel great because you worked your butt off to get back,” Graham said. “I know the team worked their butt off to get here, and I want to be there for them.”
Graham is one of two position players and four players overall left from the Eagles’ Super Bowl championship team in the 2017 season.

In the Eagles’ Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots in 2018, Graham strip-sacked Tom Brady with 2:11 left in the fourth quarter to seal the 41-33 win for the Eagles.
In their 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl two years ago, Graham played 18 snaps without a tackle or sack.
“I don’t want to get in the way of the rhythm of what everybody already has,” Graham said. “If I can just add anything, I want to give everything I’ve got.”
Graham has played the most games of any player in Eagles history with 206, 13 more than Jason Kelce, who is second in franchise history with 193.

Shortly after the injury, the Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher emotionally admitted that it was “pointing toward” his career not ending on his own terms.

Graham even admitted that he was “content” if he were to never play another down – but he seems to have reversed course.

During Super Bowl LIX opening night in New Orleans, Graham said he is “feeling good” and is “excited to be able to play in this game.”
Graham has several hurdles to leap in order to play – a successful week of practice is rather important, but Graham said he is “just enjoying the moment.”
“When I got hurt, I saw it as a possibility,” he said, regarding playing in the Super Bowl. “I talked to people and they said it was a possibility. I rehabbed as hard as I could… So when the time came they would give me the chance.”

Graham was on the losing side of the Super Bowl two years ago against Kansas City when he made little impact during his 18 defensive snaps on a slick field that made rushing the passer difficult for everyone.
He did, however, cause the strip-sack against Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII that catapulted the Birds to that title.

Graham’s return would provide an emotional boost, but he hopes to deliver more than that. He had 3.5 sacks in his 11 games before getting hurt.

Toward the end of his 13-year career in the NFL, Brandon Marshall found himself in East Rutherford, New Jersey, playing for the New York Giants.
“I think it’s one of the dopest brands in all of sports. I love what they stand for,” Marshall, who played his 2017 season with the Giants, told Fox News Digital.
While the Giants are rooted in tradition and respect, winning has been hard to come by in recent seasons. Marshall knows about that, having gone 3-13 with the team one year after they reached the playoffs.

But the 2024 season not only had a 3-14 finish, it saw an ex-franchise cornerstone piece light it up with a rival elsewhere.
And Saquon Barkley, starring now for the Philadelphia Eagles, is heading to Super Bowl LIX.
Owner John Mara was seen on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” telling general manager Joe Schoen that he would have trouble sleeping if Barkley ended up with the Eagles. Schoen believed Eagles general Howie Roseman was out on Barkley, but boy, did he turn out to be wrong.

What transpired is arguably the greatest running back season of all time, and NFL fans have been ripping the Giants each week as Barkley seemed to outdo himself with every game that came up next on the schedule.
It’s a tough pill to swallow for the Giants and their fan base, but Marshall doesn’t want to hear any complaining from anyone on New York’s side.
“It’s what comes with it. This is the big leagues,” he said. “The Tisch [and Mara] family has been phenomenal to me. … I do think that they can embrace a little change and get with the times a little bit in some areas. But I’m a big fan of the Giants.
“With that being said, no, this is absolutely what comes with it. You had a generational talent in your building, and you knew it. It’s why you drafted him.”

Marshall flashed back to former general manager Dave Gettleman, who owned the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, saying that you choose a player that high who has an opportunity to reach the Hall of Fame.
Barkley showcased that ability in six seasons with the Giants, especially in 2022, when his efforts to set the tone in the backfield helped break the team’s playoff drought. But just one season with the Eagles shows what Barkley can do behind one of the best offensive lines in the sport.
That was on full display this past Sunday as Barkley rushed for three touchdowns in the 55-23 rout of the Washington Commanders to head to his first Super Bowl. It led Dallas Cowboys great Dez Bryant to join the trolls on social media, which ultimately led to current Giants defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux getting into a heated argument with him.

Thibodeaux might be defending his team, but it goes back to Marshall’s point: When you allow a generational talent to walk, expect the consequences.
“It’s unfortunate that they weren’t able to surround Saquon with the right offensive line, with the right coordinators, with the right receivers,” Marshall explained. “You insert [head coach] Brian Daboll, who I love to death, but it was way too late. Then, the whole market around the running back shifted. Now, you have Saquon Barkley and King [Derrick] Henry redefining how we should look at the running back position, how we should look at the run game. It’s extremely important.”
Barkley is on the cusp of history as he appears destined to break the NFL record for most rushing yards in a season, including the playoffs, which Hall of Famer Terrell Davis currently owns with 2,476 yards. Barkley has 2,447 after his 118 yards on Sunday.
If the Eagles win the Super Bowl, like Davis’ Denver Broncos did in 1998, Barkley would cap a historic season, something the Giants hoped he could produce with them.

Instead, they have to continue looking on from further north on I-95. And what’s worse? This is only the first year on Barkley’s three-year Eagles contract.
The only way for the Giants to change the narrative is to build the right roster to compete with Barkley and the Eagles. Until then, the shots taken by football fans will continue to fly.

Graham, 36, has been out since Week 12 with a triceps injury and thought his season — and possibly his career — might be over.
The Eagles opened the practice window for the one-time Pro Bowler Thursday, giving him a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

“If I had to go out like this, I gave everything I got,” Graham told reporters after being injured in November.
Graham said in training camp the 2024 season would be his last when speaking to reporters.

With the Eagles reaching the Super Bowl, it has given Graham enough rest and recovery to open his practice window to give him a chance to play.

Graham has spent his entire 15-year career with the Eagles after being drafted by the team with the 13th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Michigan.
In 11 games this season, Graham had 20 combined tackles and 3½ sacks before getting hurt.
Graham has 76½ career sacks and was a key part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning season in 2017.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane heard what the league office had to say, but he still believes his quarterback picked up a crucial first down in the AFC Championship.
The Bills were crushed by the Kansas City Chiefs once again in the playoffs, falling just short of a Super Bowl appearance in a 32-29 loss on the road this past Sunday.
One of the most controversial plays from the game was a fourth-and-inches quarterback sneak by Josh Allen. In real-time, it appeared that he made the gain, but referees called him short, forcing a turnover on downs to the Chiefs.

Five plays later, Patrick Mahomes rushed into the end zone for his second rushing score of the game to take a seven-point lead after a two-point conversion.
Other than the controversial spot, the play prior, where Dalton Kincaid appeared to pick up the first down, is just as questionable. And replay shows a Chiefs player was lined up in the neutral zone when Allen took the snap on the sneak attempt, which should’ve been flagged for a first down.
Beane discussed that particular sequence of events on Thursday.

“It’s frustrating,” he said, per SI.com. “There’s only so much I can say. We work with the league to try to get clarity. I’ll give them credit. They’ve taken our calls. They’ve sent video and things like that. If you’re talking about like the fourth-down play, I feel like [Allen] got that. I still feel like he got that. I felt that in the moment and nothing has changed my mind on that.”
Earlier in the game, a crucial replay review confirmed a catch by Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy, and it also bothered Beane. Defensive back Cole Bishop went up with Worthy for an interception, and it appeared both of them had their hands around the ball as the tip of the pigskin hit the ground.

Like the later play, it resulted in a Chiefs touchdown as Mahomes scampered into the end zone.
“The play that we challenged was a good challenge,” he explained. “I’m not sure either player had possession on the Bishop-Worthy play when the ball touched the ground.”
Some fans have accused referees of favoring the Chiefs during this Super Bowl run, with another controversial call coming in the divisional round against the Houston Texans.
Will Anderson Jr. was called for a personal foul, a 15-yard penalty, for a hit to the head on Mahomes despite replay showing that wasn’t the case. Nonetheless, the third-and-long that wasn’t converted on an overthrown pass gave the Chiefs more life on their drive.

Officiating will be a storyline heading into this matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, especially after fans believed their previous Super Bowl meeting two seasons ago ended controversially after James Bradberry was called for holding JuJu Smith-Schuster.
The penalty set up Harrison Butker’s game-winning field goal to start this streak for the Chiefs.

As Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs head to their third straight Super Bowl, NFL fans can’t help but feel for the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen.
The Chiefs can make history in New Orleans Feb. 9 by winning their third straight Super Bowl. That history has come at the expense of Allen, who is 0-4 in postseason games against Mahomes and the Chiefs.
As good as Allen is — he’s an MVP frontrunner alongside Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson this year — he has been unable to get the Bills back to the Super Bowl for the first time in over three decades.
And his postgame interview after falling to the Chiefs 32-29 showed his raw emotion. He was short with his answers and looked dejected.

One ex-NFL star, though, broke down Allen’s challenge of having to get through Mahomes to achieve the team’s goals to other sports greats.
“Sometimes you run into a Michael Jordan. Sometimes you run into a Tiger Woods in their prime, and you got to deal with it,” former All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Marshall told Fox News Digital while discussing his new venture with his “I Am Athlete” partnering with Revolt.
“If these guys can pull off one or two, then that’s what they can do. But [Mahomes has] been in the league eight years and been to the Super Bowl five times.
“Great job, Josh Allen, but this is the wrong era to be a quarterback.”

Marshall said that was “no knock” against Allen, Jackson, Joe Burrow or even C.J. Stroud with his Houston Texans falling to the Chiefs in the divisional round.
But as good as Basketball Hall of Famer Karl Malone was with the Utah Jazz, they couldn’t beat Jordan and the Bulls in the two NBA Finals they played. And when Woods was in his golfing prime, some players accepted that finishing second place any given week was an accomplishment because Woods would likely be lifting the trophy.
It’s the unfortunate result of greatness. Someone or some team has to lose.

Marshall described Mahomes and the Chiefs as a “once-in-a-lifetime” phenomenon to watch in sports, and it’s not just because of the two-time MVP.
“There’s a few people. There’s Patrick Mahomes. It shows his greatness,” Marshall explained. “It shows Andy Reid’s greatness, and they both need to be in the conversation of the greatest quarterback of all-time and also the greatest coach of all-time, challenging Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
“Another person that we have to include in this conversation since he’s taken over this defense is Steve Spagnuolo. Before he got there in 2018, this defense was dead last. It was one of the worst defenses in the league for a few years. Insert Coach Spags. Now they’re top 10, and they’re doing a phenomenal job, which results in Patrick Mahomes being more of a game manager.
“He’s still spectacular and magical, but he doesn’t need to go out there and put up 40 points. He doesn’t need to go out there … he doesn’t even need Tyreek Hill.”
Allen’s numbers in the last three Bills games against the Chiefs in the playoffs are outstanding: 931 total yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions. Yet, he’s lost them all.
Like Marshall said, it’s not a knock on Allen. It’s just clearly showing how great Mahomes and this Chiefs dynasty is it looks to make history against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“What excites me about the partnership is what I can learn and how far we can go,” he explained. “The creative economy is one of the highest economies out there, so great market to invest in. On the show, Marshall, Nicole, special guests and celebrity contributors do not just break down the latest in sports, but also culture – a main reason why Marshall knew this was the right “machine” to get behind.

REVOLT Sports Weekly’s first episode was a prime example of how this new partnership is looking to push boundaries when it comes to sports programming.
Joined by Marshall’s former UCF teammates, Josh “Beezo” Bellamy and Mike Sims-Walker, the panel discussed not only the NFL’s Championship Sunday matchups in the AFC and NFC, but they discussed whether celebrating rapper “Big Meech” with a “Welcome Back” party next month after spending 16 years in jail for drug trafficking and money laundering is right for the community.
The group also talked about the new Unrivaled women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, specifically the fashion statements that have been displayed by the WNBA stars in the groundbreaking league.
At the end of the day, this partnership aims to be raw and authentic – two pillars they were living by independently to begin with.

“I think you have to be raw and authentic to win in today’s landscape when you talk about media. That’s what people want,” Marshall said. “How you dress, how you talk, even the way the show is shot. We’re tired of over-produced content, over-produced conversations. So, that’s what is needed to separate yourselves in this space. So, for me, those are the only conversations I can participate in. I can’t sit down with people that I can’t learn from, that I can’t teach something to – conversations that aren’t impactful.
“It feels good to be in a place finally with a network and also just in today’s times where those conversations are embraced.”
