Cracker Barrel promises no egg surcharges, doubles rewards after Waffle House announcement

Cracker Barrel’s original old country store won’t be restored.

Cracker Barrel is cementing itself as a good egg in the restaurant industry, promising customers constant prices following competitors’ recent egg surcharge announcements.

“Egg prices are staying put, but we’re doubling your rewards,” the company wrote in a Facebook post.

On Thursday night, the company announced that Cracker Barrel Rewards members will also earn double pegs on all egg dishes through Wednesday.

SHELLING OUT: EGG PRICES RISE NEARLY 37 PERCENT

The announcement comes after ongoing outbreaks of the bird flu led to an increase in egg prices and limited availability nationwide.

Earlier this week, Fox Business reported a number of companies plan on adding egg surcharges amid the recent shortage.

Waffle House, a sprawling Southern breakfast food chain, on Monday implemented a temporary .50 per egg surcharge across all of its menus.

EGG PRICES AREN’T COMING DOWN ANYTIME SOON, EXPERTS SAY

The company released a statement saying both consumers and restaurants are “being forced to make difficult decisions.”

“Rather than increasing prices across the menu, this is a temporary, targeted surcharge tied to the unprecedented rise in egg prices,” the company wrote.

While price fluctuations will be “short-lived,” the company said it is unclear how long the shortage will last.

Waffle House, which has nearly 2,000 locations across 25 states, clarified eggs will remain on the menu, but said prices will be adjusted as market conditions allow.

Sean Kennedy, National Restaurant Association executive vice president of public affairs explained that during shortages, operators collaborate with food suppliers to assess the impact.

They may later make the decision to curb the financial toll by altering menus or raising prices.

Sean Duffy tells Hillary Clinton to ‘sit this one out’ after she chimes in on his DOGE announcement

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will work on upgrading the aviation system, and then fired back at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after she weighed in.

“Big News – Talked to the DOGE team. They are going to plug in to help upgrade our aviation system,” Duffy noted in a post on X.

Clinton chimed in, tweeting, “They have no relevant experience. Most of them aren’t old enough to rent a car. And you’re going to let them mess with airline safety that’s already deteriorated on your watch?”

Duffy fired back at Clinton, the Democrat who lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump.

“Madam Secretary, with all due respect, ‘experienced’ Washington bureaucrats are the reason our nation’s infrastructure is crumbling. You need to sit this one out,” Duffy declared.

Business tycoon Elon Musk — who is spearheading the DOGE effort to uncover government waste, fraud, and abuse — indicated that the team will seek to swiftly implement “safety upgrades to the air traffic control system.”

“With the support of President @realDonaldTrump, the @DOGE team will aim to make rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system. Just a few days ago, the FAA’s primary aircraft safety notification system failed for several hours!” he noted in a post when responding to Duffy’s announcement.

Someone replied to Musk, noting, “My brother first developed the method of accurately navigating airlines by GPS, 45 years ago. He expected an automated air traffic system long ago. It’s time to do it now. Get rid of 75-year-old ATC radar. Put all the planes on a 3-D map. All paths straight to landing.”

Musk replied, noting that he agrees.

The exchange comes after back-to-back fatal aviation incidents in the U.S. last week, including the collision between a military helicopter and a passenger jet near the Ronald Reagan Washington National airport (DCA) and a Learjet 55 medevac jet that crashed in Philadelphia, killing at least seven people.

WWE legend Triple H reflects on surprise Hall of Fame announcement

Paul “Triple H” Levesque was surprised at WWE HQ last week when CEO Nick Khan and legends Shawn Michaels and Undertaker revealed he would be the first member of the 2025 Hall of Fame class.

Levesque will go into the Hall of Fame as a solo wrestler. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the D-Generation X tag-team with Michaels, who were both integral parts of the “Monday Night Wars” against World Championship Wrestling in the late 1990s.

He spoke about receiving the honor at the Royal Rumble post-event press conference.

“In business for me, outside of the ring, there’s nobody that I respect more, nobody, than him,” he said of Khan. “He’s my partner in all of this. So him doing that for me was incredibly meaningful.”

Last week, Khan was addressing the company when Michaels and Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, interrupted and surprised Levesque with their own announcement.

“From a guy who usually has something to say about everything, I’m speechless,” Levesque said on Wednesday. “I’m gonna kill Nick when we leave here. If you see someone flying off of the roof, just ignore it. I don’t really know what else to say.”

Levesque was a 14-time world champion in WWE, winning the WWE Championship nine times and the World Heavyweight Championship five times. He had significant feuds with The Rock, Mick Foley, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Michaels, Undertaker and countless others throughout the duration of his career.

He became WWE’s chief content officer in 2022 and helped usher in a “new era” in the company following the departure of Vince McMahon, his father-in-law, due to sexual misconduct allegations. He has since been the main voice behind the company’s creative work.

Levesque’s WrestleMania XX match against Chris Benoit and Michaels, his WrestleMania 22 match against John Cena and WrestleMania XXIV match against Undertaker are considered some of the best in the event’s history.

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is usually set for the Friday before WrestleMania, which would be April 18. He is the only person in the class so far.

American Gas Association reacts to Trump announcement of energy tariffs on Canada, Mexico

The American Gas Association says it is working with President Donald Trump’s administration to “mitigate” potential rising costs as part of Trump’s new tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

The AGA noted in a statement that roughly 9% of U.S. natural gas supplies are sourced from Canada. AGA President and CEO Karen Harbert affirmed her intent to work with the Trump administration in another public statement.

“Energy security is national security, and our highly integrated North American natural gas delivery system is critical to ensuring our nation’s safety and fueling our homes and vital industries. AGA is dedicated to continuing to work with President Trump to help ensure affordable and reliable energy for American families and businesses and mitigate any potential effects of these tariffs on home heating and business costs,” said Harbert.

Trump imposed 25% import tariffs on both Mexico and Canada on Saturday, as well as a 10% tariff on Chinese imports. The energy tariffs applied to Canada are limited to 10%, the administration noted.

Energy resources from Canada will have a lower 10% tariff, according to the White House. In a statement obtained by Fox News Saturday, the Trump administration said the action is a response to an “extraordinary threat posed by illegal aliens and drugs, including deadly fentanyl, (that) constitutes a national emergency.”

“This challenge threatens the fabric of our society,” the executive order states. “Gang members, smugglers, human traffickers, and illicit drugs of all kinds have poured across our borders and into our communities.

“Canada has played a central role in these challenges, including by failing to devote sufficient attention and resources or meaningfully coordinate with United States law enforcement partners to effectively stem the tide of illicit drugs.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau argued that Canadians are feeling betrayal by Trump’s tariffs.

Canada and Mexico each announced tariffs on U.S. imports on Saturday in retaliation for Trump placing tariffs on the two countries.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau argued on Saturday that the move “split us apart instead of bringing us together.” His administration has imposed a 25% tariff on some $155 billion worth of U.S. imports.

“It is going to have real consequences for people, for workers on both sides of our border,” he said. “We don’t want to be here. We didn’t ask for this, but we will not back down in standing up both for Canadians and for the incredible successful relationship between Canada and the United States.”

Hot mic catches moment Commanders’ Jayden Daniels was perplexed by odd referee announcement in NFC title game

During the Philadelphia Eagles’ beatdown of the Washington Commanders in the NFC championship, there was an odd moment at the goal line in the second half when Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu tried to stop a “tush push” by jumping over the offensive line.

But he was called for encroachment … multiple times.

“Inside the NFL” caught the moment Luvu leaped over the Eagles’ offensive line without the ball being snapped. And, because he did it so many times, referees stepped in.

What was said, though, shocked many people, including Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

“Encroachment, defense, No. 4,” the referee said. “Washington has been advised that, at some point, the referee can award a score if this type of behavior happens again.”

“Award a score? You can give them a touchdown?” Daniels responded on the sideline.

Although it worked out in their favor, the Eagles’ defenders watching their offense about to punch in another score never heard of the rule either.

“Next time they do that, they award a score?” Darius Slay asked fellow defensive back Cooper DeJean.

“The refs can give us a touchdown I guess if they do it again or something,” DeJean responded.

The obscure rule is found in the NFL Rulebook as Rule 12, Section 3, Article 4.

“PALPABLY UNFAIR ACT: A player or substitute shall not interfere with play by any act which is palpably unfair. 51 Rule 12 Penalty: For a palpably unfair act: Offender may be disqualified. The Referee, after consulting the officiating crew, enforces any such distance penalty as they consider equitable and irrespective of any other specified code penalty. The Referee may award a score.”

The rule is for obvious unfair situations, and referees felt Luvu consistently jumping the gun on his leap to stop Jalen Hurts and the tush push was too much because the Eagles didn’t snap the ball.

Hurts eventually got into the end zone on a tush push for his third rushing touchdown against the Commanders in the 55-23 rout.
