Canada will take on the U.S. in the 4 Nations Face-Off final later this week in what will be a rematch of their intense matchup from over the weekend, when three fights broke out in nine seconds.

Brad Marchand and Nathan MacKinnon both expressed excitement about getting to play the U.S. again following Canada’s 5-3 win over Finland on Monday afternoon.

“We’re obviously really excited about (having) another crack at these guys. It’s going to be an intense game, for sure,” Marchand said.

“There’s no bigger rivalry in hockey than Canada-U.S., and I think it’s the matchup that everybody wanted. So it’s going to be an extremely intense game, one we’re all going to be looking forward to.”

MacKinnon said he thinks Canada can get the win in Boston.

“We feel like we can beat those guys and we plan on playing a little better Thursday,” he said, via The Athletic.

The Americans took a hit in their loss against Sweden to end the round-robin portion of the tournament. Brady Tkachuk left in the second period after a collision with Sweden’s Samuel Ersson in the crease. Auston Matthews and Charlie McAvoy were scratched from the lineup.

U.S. head coach Mike Sullivan said the team was looking forward to the matchup.

“The first game was such a great hockey game. And I think it’s great for hockey that there’s an opportunity for these two teams to meet again,” Sullivan said. “Obviously, both teams have star power all around the lineup. It was a very competitive hockey game, the first game. I would anticipate the next one will be every bit as competitive, if not more.”

Auburn baseball star Cade Belyeu crushes 1st homer of season hours after mother’s death

Auburn Tigers outfielder Cade Belyeu opened the 2025 season with a heavy heart and enormous emotional pressure on his shoulders as the team played the Holy Cross Crusaders.

Belyeu hit a solo home run in the sixth inning against Holy Cross. It was Belyeu and the Tigers’ first home run of the season. It turned out he played for more than just an early-season victory.

The sophomore’s mother, Staci, had died after a battle with breast cancer a few hours earlier. Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said the team was trying to figure out what they were going to do if Belyeu was going to take the night to collect his thoughts.

“He said Staci wanted him to play,” Thompson told the Montgomery Advertiser. “I think it was the most inspiring thing we’ve ever seen. Our crowd is just amazing. They absolutely sensed and knew what was going on with him. … An inspiration by Cade Belyeu.”

Auburn won the game 4-1. The Tigers eventually wrapped up the series, taking two out of three from Holy Cross.

Belyeu was 6-of-12 at the plate against the Crusaders during the weekend. He hit his lone home run and had two RBI in the series win. He also had five stolen bases.

Auburn is back in action on Tuesday against Troy.

The 6-foot-3 outfielder was named to the SEC All-Freshman team last season.

Poll finds Trump has highest approval rating now than any point in 1st term

President Donald Trump has the highest approval rating now compared to any point during his first term in office, according to a new poll.

Forty-seven percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance in the less than a month since he was sworn in as the 47th president, the latest national survey by the Pew Research Center found.

While that’s higher than at any point while he served as the 45th president, Trump’s inaugural approval rating sinks below that of most other presidents since Ronald Reagan. George W. Bush’s approval rating early in his second term, however, was about the same as that of Trump now.

The poll, conducted Jan. 27 to Feb. 2 among 5,086 adults, found nearly three in ten adults, or 28%, view Trump’s actions as better than expected, while 36% said they have been what they expected.

His actions are viewed as worse than expected by 35% of adults.

Americans are fairly evenly split over how they believe Trump’s White House will affect the federal government. The survey found 41% of adults said they believe Trump’s administration will improve the way the federal government works, and 42% said they believe the state of the federal government will worsen with him in office.

Public opinion on Trump’s agenda remains starkly divided along partisan lines. The poll found 67% of Republicans, including those who lean red, support all or most of Trump’s plans and policies. For Democrats and those who lean blue, 84% support few or none. Almost an identical share of Republicans, 76%, said Trump will improve the way the federal government operates, as Democrats, 78%, said Trump will make the federal government run worse.

For Republicans, 53% viewed Trump’s recent actions as better than expected, while the poll found 60% of Democrats view the president’s accomplishments as worse than expected.

As Trump enters his fourth week back in office, his efforts to slash wasteful federal government spending through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have caused a stir in Washington.

His threat of tariffs against Canada and Mexico and levied against China over the flow of deadly fentanyl across American borders has similarly raised concerns. Trump’s angling for the Panama Canal and Greenland amid the increasing Chinese presence in the Western Hemisphere, as well as his administration overseeing a collapsing ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel in the Middle East have put the world on notice.

Trump’s advisers are expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this week in Munich as the war with Russia stretches into its third year. Raging wildfires in California, a deadly military helicopter-passenger jet collision in D.C., and the continuing aftermath of last year’s hurricane devastation in the southeast, particularly in North Carolina, are putting Trump’s new Cabinet chiefs to the test on the domestic front, as is Trump’s crackdown on criminal illegal immigration.

1st Super Bowl LIX controversial call goes Chiefs’ way, social media explodes

There was an early penalty flag in Super Bowl LIX that went the Chiefs’ way, and social media, right on cue, went ablaze.

On 4th-and-2, the Eagles opted to keep the offense on the field, and Jalen Hurts found A.J. Brown deep for a first down.

However, the referees were quick to throw a flag on Brown for offensive pass interference.

The flag bumped the Birds back 10 yards rather than put them in the red zone, and they had to punt instead.

Nick Sirianni was red-hot about what even FOX broadcaster Kevin Burkhardt said was “controversial,” and even rules analyst Mike Pereira said he didn’t see enough.

It seems like they spoke for most of social media.

The Eagles were able to force a punt, but it sure changed the dynamic of the start of the ballgame, even though it may have been the right call.

It continued the Birds’ drive, and they took advantage of it with their patented tush push several plays later to go up 7-0 in the first.

Tom Brady reveals he took 15-minute nap before playing in 1st Super Bowl

Tom Brady won seven Super Bowl championships during his career with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

During the 2001 season, Brady had to step up as the starting quarterback for an injured Drew Bledsoe and led the Patriots to their first Super Bowl appearance in several years. At that point, Brady was only in his second season in New England, and he appeared to be as cool as the other side of the pillow.

He explained to FOX colleagues Erin Andrews and Michael Strahan on “The Madden Cruiser Tour: A Bayou Adventure with Bill Belichick” that he decided to take a quick snooze before Super Bowl XXXVI against the St. Louis Rams. The game was played in the Superdome in New Orleans.

“We had to warm up on the field and then we have 50 minutes before we went back out. So, I took my pads off and I was like, you know, I’m just gonna lay down and rest and I literally took a 15-minute nap before the game,” he explained.

Strahan was stunned and said he would’ve been jittery the entire day.

“The difference is, when you’re young, you don’t realize the enormity of what you’re going through because I had not really been in the league that long. Eighteen years later, when I was playing in the Super Bowl, I couldn’t sleep the night before the game,” Brady said.

Brady will be coming back to where he won his first Super Bowl.

Colts’ Jonathan Taylor confident in Anthony Richardson after subpar 1st full season

NEW ORLEANS – Anthony Richardson’s rookie year was cut short after just four games due to an injury, so the 2024 campaign marked his first full season.

Safe to say, it didn’t go as many Indianapolis Colts fans had hoped.

Richardson suffered yet another injury in just the fourth game of the season, and early on, he struggled. In that span, he completed just over half of his passes, threw six interceptions, and fumbled the ball three times (thankfully, all were recovered).

He returned in Week 7, but it got even worse. In Weeks 7 and 8, he went 20-for-56 through the air and lost two fumbles. So, the Colts went with Joe Flacco for a brief period.

His final five games were much of the same – less than half his pass attempts were caught, and he couldn’t hold onto the ball. For one thing, he did rush for 358 yards in that span. But, he missed the final two games with yet another injury.

Add it all up, and Richardson’s first full season ended up with completing 47.7% of his passes while throwing just eight touchdowns against 12 turnovers in 11 games. He did run for 499 yards and six touchdowns, but he put the ball on the ground nine times.

However, his star running back in Jonathan Taylor is pleading for everyone to give him some time.

“People don’t realize quarterbacks coming out now are like 24 – he’s only 22. So, he hasn’t played like much ball yet, only 15 games in the NFL,” Taylor said to Fox News Digital in a recent interview (Richardson turns 23 in May).

Taylor is in New Orleans for Super Bowl week, perhaps a place he’d rather be to contend for the Lombardi Trophy. But during his trip, he’s getting out to Dairy Queen for his typical pregame meal.

“I’m going there right after this. I’m getting some of that sauced and tossed honey barbecue chicken strip basket,” Taylor said.

Oh, and he won’t forget about his “go-to” Oreo Blizzard either.

In speaking about his quarterback, though, Taylor also pointed to what people don’t see.

“He’s on the field getting extra reps. He’s really in the playbook all day, every day so he has that work ethic.”

Bills’ Josh Allen wins 1st career NFL MVP

Josh Allen finally has some hardware.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the first time on Thursday.

Fans wondered what Allen would do after the Bills traded Stefon Diggs in the offseason. Well, he clearly was just fine.

Allen threw 28 touchdowns against a career-low six interceptions while also scoring a dozen touchdowns with his legs. Allen’s 77.4 QBR was the NFL’s best, which is more impressive considering he didn’t exactly have household names to throw to – Khalil Shakir led the team in targets (100), receptions (76), and yards (821).

Allen got the benefit of a rather subpar division, clinching the AFC East on Dec. 1. But, it became very clear that as long as Allen is in the fold, the Bills will have a chance to compete.

He beat out Lamar Jackson narrowly – perhaps the AFC divisional round was foreshadowing of the MVP vote, as Allen’s Bills pulled out a narrow 27-25 win over Baltimore two and a half weeks ago.

Allen is yet to get over the Kansas City Chiefs hump, losing to them for a fourth time in the playoffs in the AFC title game. However, a long-coveted MVP is finally on Allen’s resume.
