As Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs head to their third straight Super Bowl, NFL fans can’t help but feel for the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen.

The Chiefs can make history in New Orleans Feb. 9 by winning their third straight Super Bowl. That history has come at the expense of Allen, who is 0-4 in postseason games against Mahomes and the Chiefs.

As good as Allen is — he’s an MVP frontrunner alongside Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson this year — he has been unable to get the Bills back to the Super Bowl for the first time in over three decades.

And his postgame interview after falling to the Chiefs 32-29 showed his raw emotion. He was short with his answers and looked dejected.

One ex-NFL star, though, broke down Allen’s challenge of having to get through Mahomes to achieve the team’s goals to other sports greats.

“Sometimes you run into a Michael Jordan. Sometimes you run into a Tiger Woods in their prime, and you got to deal with it,” former All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Marshall told Fox News Digital while discussing his new venture with his “I Am Athlete” partnering with Revolt.

“If these guys can pull off one or two, then that’s what they can do. But [Mahomes has] been in the league eight years and been to the Super Bowl five times.

“Great job, Josh Allen, but this is the wrong era to be a quarterback.”

Marshall said that was “no knock” against Allen, Jackson, Joe Burrow or even C.J. Stroud with his Houston Texans falling to the Chiefs in the divisional round.

But as good as Basketball Hall of Famer Karl Malone was with the Utah Jazz, they couldn’t beat Jordan and the Bulls in the two NBA Finals they played. And when Woods was in his golfing prime, some players accepted that finishing second place any given week was an accomplishment because Woods would likely be lifting the trophy.

It’s the unfortunate result of greatness. Someone or some team has to lose.

Marshall described Mahomes and the Chiefs as a “once-in-a-lifetime” phenomenon to watch in sports, and it’s not just because of the two-time MVP.

“There’s a few people. There’s Patrick Mahomes. It shows his greatness,” Marshall explained. “It shows Andy Reid’s greatness, and they both need to be in the conversation of the greatest quarterback of all-time and also the greatest coach of all-time, challenging Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

“Another person that we have to include in this conversation since he’s taken over this defense is Steve Spagnuolo. Before he got there in 2018, this defense was dead last. It was one of the worst defenses in the league for a few years. Insert Coach Spags. Now they’re top 10, and they’re doing a phenomenal job, which results in Patrick Mahomes being more of a game manager.

“He’s still spectacular and magical, but he doesn’t need to go out there and put up 40 points. He doesn’t need to go out there … he doesn’t even need Tyreek Hill.”

Allen’s numbers in the last three Bills games against the Chiefs in the playoffs are outstanding: 931 total yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions. Yet, he’s lost them all.

Like Marshall said, it’s not a knock on Allen. It’s just clearly showing how great Mahomes and this Chiefs dynasty is it looks to make history against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The first episode, which featured Marshall’s former UCF teammates, Josh “Beezo” Bellamy and Mike Sims-Walker, discussed the NFL’s conference championship matchups, while also going deep on whether celebrating rapper Big Meech with a welcome back party next month after spending 16 years in jail for drug trafficking and money laundering is right for the community.

Ex-NFL star Julian Edelman slams Chiefs’ referee favoritism: ‘Bunch of bull-oney’

Former NFL wide receiver Julian Edelman heard it all when he was playing for the New England Patriots when it came to referees always being on their side.

The Kansas City Chiefs are going through the same thing as they’re on the cusp of history, as they could be the first team ever to win three straight Super Bowls. Not even Edelman and the Tom Brady-led Patriots were able to accomplish that during their dynasty.

During an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Edelman was asked by the program’s namesake if he’d heard about the referee favoritism conspiracy theories going around during this year’s playoff run, specifically when it came to his own experience dealing with that during his days in Foxborough.

“It’s apparent when you’re on top, everyone wants to bring you down,” Edelman responded. “It’s a bunch of baloney that the league is helping the Kansas City Chiefs. If you have a problem with it, go beat ‘em. The refs aren’t involved when you throw interceptions, when you fumble the ball, when you jump offsides, when you don’t convert third down or fourth down. They can’t control that. If you want to beat ‘em, go beat ‘em. Don’t talk about it – be about it. I’m so sick and tired about people saying that about the Chiefs.”

Edelman faced similar criticism during his time with the Patriots from 2009-2020, where he was a three-time Super Bowl champion (2014, 2016, 2018). Fans would theorize that the referees were favoring Brady and the Patriots throughout those Super Bowl runs, but Edelman shed some reality on the situation.

“We all have scouting reports on each ref crew and how they like to [call] the game,” he said. “You learn about it during that first part of that game. If they’re calling it tight, you tighten back. If they’re not, you just hope they’re consistent throughout the whole thing, which they usually are.

“Yes, they miss calls and they do these things, and there’s some bad calls here and there. But there’s a handful of roughing the passers for guys that don’t even have a resume that you looked at this year that got the call. If it’s close, leave it alone. Yeah, they’ll probably have to address that sideline awareness stuff, but these whole graphics about, ‘Oh, they get the call, and they don’t give the call to them.’ Because they’re coached better.”

Because of the dynasty talk revolving around the Chiefs, the natural comparison to the Patriots, which was the league’s last dynasty, have been made.

Eisen asked Edelman if he sees any similarities between his Patriots teams and the Chiefs in recent years.

It all comes down to getting the job done in clutch situations.

“They’re situational tight,” Edelman said. “You watch them on third down, you watch them in the red area. A lot of these games when you get to this time of the year, they’re not won by the team that makes the most plays. Yeah, that’s part of it. It’s always the team that makes the least amount of mistakes. That’s what they do. They play mistake-free, they play situationally tight, they’ll lull you to sleep, and then they’ll beat you when they need to. That’s stuff we used to do.”

School reacts to video of official telling parents to alter trans kid’s birth certificate to play girls sports

A Texas school district has acknowledged footage of one of its administrators telling an undercover journalist posing as a parent to change a transgender child’s birth certificate to compete in girls sports.

The Irving Independent School District in Irving, Texas, has provided a statement to Fox News Digital addressing the recent video of Reny Lizardo, the executive director of campus operations, giving this guidance, which was obtained by Accuracy in Media.

The statement indicates Lizardo has resigned from his position.

“In Irving ISD, we are committed to upholding the requirements of state and federal laws, especially as it pertains to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, and we will cooperate with any investigation initiated by relevant authorities,” the statement said.

“We are aware of the unauthorized video footage circulating on social media of an individual connected with Irving ISD. The videos were obtained under false pretenses by an individual who posed as a concerned parent and additional individuals who posed as family friends of the employee pictured.

“The individuals also held themselves out as members of the media, but were not credentialed as such, constituting a breach of security. In addition, the footage has been edited and is an incomplete representation of the entire conversation, making it difficult to properly assess its probative value.”

In the footage, Lizardo said, “It’s not illegal if you don’t get caught,” with regard to changing the gender on a child’s birth certificate, and “if you can get that done, and you turn us a birth certificate that says ‘this gender,’ that’s the gender we go with.”

While discussing potential repercussions of the discussion, Lizardo suggested pleading plausible deniability.

The district insists Lizardo’s handling of the situation does not reflect the values and protocols of the school district.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Lizardo for comment.

“We want to reiterate that Irving ISD complies with all state and federal laws, and all employees are expected to adhere to any and all legal and ethical standards. The message conveyed in the video, as presented, does not reflect the views nor policies of the district,” the statement said.

“Individual employees do not speak on behalf of the district. The individual identified was acting outside of his role as it relates to legal and regulatory expertise. While the matter continues to be under investigation, the individual identified in the video has tendered his resignation.”

The district’s statement concludes by claiming all of its athletes participate in the proper gender category.

“We can also confirm that all Irving ISD student-athletes are participating in their sport in accordance with the sex they were assigned at birth,” the district said. “Irving ISD is unwavering in our commitment to the safety and well-being of all of our students and staff. We remain focused on our primary function to maintain educational excellence and foster the full potential of our students.”

Texas is one of 25 states in the U.S. with a law that prevents or restricts transgender athletes from competing against girls and women. In June 2023, the state passed the Save Women’s Sports Act that prohibits transgender athletes from competing in girls and women’s sports and only allows students to compete in the gender category listed on their birth certificate.

The law only allows schools to recognize changes made to birth certificates that were made to correct a clerical error.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott addressed the footage involving Lizardo in a post on X and called for him to be fired and investigated.

“This Irving ISD Administrator should be fired on the spot. Both criminal & civil investigations must be taken against both the Administrator & Irving ISD,” Abbott wrote. “Has Irving ISD and its employees been involved in a fraudulent breach of state laws & a cover up? We must get the facts.”

NBA Commish Adam Silver says he supports the idea of switching to ‘four, 10-minute quarters’

Just over half of the NBA season has passed, and Commissioner Adam Silver’s search for ways to improve the league appears in full swing.

This week, Silver floated a drastic rule change for the length of quarters during NBA games.

The NBA plays 12-minute quarters. If the NBA were to adopt a Silver proposal, those periods would be reduced by two minutes. Ten-minute quarters would take eight minutes off the game clock.

Silver noted that the reduction could create a more “consistent” presentation for basketball fans who watch games on TV.

“I am a fan of four, 10-minute quarters,” Silver told “The Dan Patrick Show” when asked about the more drastic ideas the NBA has considered.

“I’m not sure that many others are … putting aside what it means for records and things like that. I think that a two-hour format for a game is more consistent with modern television habits. People in arenas aren’t asking us to shorten the game, but … as a television program, Olympic basketball is two hours. College basketball is 40 minutes.”

At one point, Silver cited the length of games played in other leagues around the world.

“The NBA is the only (basketball) league that plays 48 minutes. … It’s such a dramatic change to the game. … Something like that would have to be talked more about over time.”

During the Summer Olympics, basketball games last 40 minutes. College basketball games in the U.S. are divided into 20-minute halves.

“Because this game is so global, one of the things we’d like to see over time is creating a more consistent set of rules globally around the game,” Silver said.

Silver noted that shaving two minutes off quarters could reduce the wear and tear on players over a 82-game season, while potentially helping the league combat its “load management” issue.

“Incidentally, if you went to a 40-minute game — with the issues around load management and resting — it would be the equivalent of … taking like 15 games off the season,” Silver said.

Silver made it clear the ideas he mentioned during the exchange with Patrick had merely been discussed, but they are nowhere near being adopted.

“It’s not quite at that level,” he said.

Silver also praised Major League Baseball for adding a pitch clock. He argued the change helped “speed up the game,” while also keeping traditional aspects of the game in place.

“I’m a baseball fan, and I think some of those changes have really increased sort of the engagement … the entertainment value of the game, and so I’m paying a lot of attention to that,” Silver said.

“And, in fact, I’ve used the pitch clock … in meetings at the NBA to say … we shouldn’t be afraid to look at changes.”

Pat Mahomes Sr. claims he was victimized by social media hack after perceived Bills insult

Pat Mahomes Sr., the father of two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, is back in the spotlight.

The elder Mahomes contends he was not responsible for a recent comment posted to his social media account, which appeared to reference the Buffalo Bills.

“Today is a great day to not be from Buffalo,” Mahomes Sr.’s X account said after the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Bills in Sunday’s AFC championship game.

The former MLB pitcher later took to his Instagram account to try and clear the air by asserting he was the victim of a social media hack.

“Haven’t been on Twitter/X in years,” Mahomes Sr. wrote. “My account was hacked and I do not have access to it. Pls disregard any tweets from @pmahomes.”

He added another statement to his Instagram account.

“Attention: Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s X account has been compromised,” the Instagram post said. “The Mahomes family holds the utmost respect for the Buffalo Bills organization and the #BillsMafia fan base. We are actively working to resolve this issue. Thank you for your understanding.”

Mahomes Sr. also offered an apology in an Instagram story post, writing, “Sorry for the misunderstanding. Would never.”

The account in question appears to have been moderately active over the past several months after an extended period of virtually no posts dating back to December 2022. The account has shared about six posts since June 2024.

It was unclear whether any of the six most recent posts were compromised.

Some of the account’s previous posts reference MLB icon Willie Mays. The baseball legend died at the age of 93 in June. The social media page also features pictures of the elder Mahomes wearing his Minnesota Twins jersey and the Chiefs quarterback when he was a baby.

This is not the first time Mahomes Sr. has made headlines. In August 2024, he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to five years probation.

Tyler, Texas, news station KLTV reported that Mahomes Sr. would have to continue attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings as a condition of the deal. He also had to serve 10 days in jail.

Police footage obtained by TMZ last year showed Pat Mahomes Sr. pleading with officers and mentioning his son’s name multiple times during a February 2024 arrest.

“Can I say one thing?” Mahomes Sr. said. “My son is getting ready to play in the f—ing Super Bowl.”

Despite the heartbreaking end, Knox spoke openly about his faith and his optimism for next season.

“I think it’s easy to be all happy and praise the Lord in the good times, but I wanna give all the glory to Jesus,” Knox. “He’s the reason I’m here, and I’ve got so much gratitude for this building and everybody in here that makes this team so special for this whole city. There’s truly nowhere else I’d rather be.”

Knox acknowledged that change in the offseason is inevitable, but added that he believes the Bills will be back in the playoffs next season.

Bookmaker sets Travis Kelce proposal odds for Super Bowl LIX

The Super Bowl always brings some of the year’s craziest sports bets, and sometimes it has nothing to do with what happens on the field — at least during the 60 minutes of game time.

One of those bets involves a certain celebrity couple.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift were the talk of the town in Las Vegas last year, and some suggested he would propose to her on the field after the game.

Football fans will have a chance to bet on that during this year’s Super Bowl. FanDuel Sportsbook is providing the choice in Canada of whether Kelce will propose to Swift on the field after the Super Bowl’s conclusion, according to the New York Post.

The odds were set at +750 that Kelce will propose, with a $10 bet yielding $75 if it were to happen.

On the flip side, Kelce not proposing to Swift has -1500 odds, which means there is a 93.75% chance it doesn’t happen at the Caesars Superdome Feb. 9.

Kelce and Swift created one of the biggest stories in the NFL during the 2023 season, and it only heightened when the Chiefs made it to their second consecutive Super Bowl, this time against the San Francisco 49ers in “Sin City.”

Swift attended the game despite being on international legs of her Eras Tour, and they were spotted sharing a celebratory kiss on the field after the overtime victory.

This time around, there have been rumors an engagement is imminent for the power couple, especially with Swift spotted wearing an infinity ring in New York City earlier this month. Speculation has run rampant online ever since.

Swift is expected to be at the game just as she was in Kansas City for the 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills. There will also be specuation about who will be a part of her star-studded entourage in the luxury suite. She was spotted with rapper Ice Spice, actress Blake Lively and actor Miles Teller, among others, in Las Vegas.

But the main question will be whether Kelce has an extra celebration in store if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl over the Philadelphia Eagles, which they did in the 2023 Super Bowl to begin their run at history.

Kelce and the Chiefs will kick off Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET from New Orleans, where they could become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Lombardi Trophies.

Wife of Chiefs owner dismisses ‘referee favoritism’ ahead of Super Bowl LIX

Tavia Hunt, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt, has entered the conversations regarding “referee favoritism” ahead of Super Bowl LIX.

NFL referees calling games in favor of the Chiefs has been a subject of debate among football fans and experts alike, but Hunt doesn’t want to hear any of it.

She posted on Instagram following her Chiefs’ 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills to secure three straight AFC Championships, and discussed her initial emotions about the team’s success.

“Overwhelmed,” she wrote. “That’s the word that comes to mind when we reflect on the lavish grace, favor, and faithfulness of God. I’ve said it before: I don’t think God cares about football, but He cares deeply about people.”

Hunt would go on to reflect on the struggles the team had over a decade ago, bringing up the 2012 season where they went 2-14. But it ultimately led to the decision to hire head coach Andy Reid, and the rest is history as he built a winning program.

Now, the Chiefs are on the cusp of NFL history, as they could become the first team ever to win three straight Super Bowls.

But Hunt added “hard work, belief, and purpose” are the reasons why – not a conspiracy that referees favor them during this playoff run.

“By God’s grace we’ve had success, but it’s not ‘black magic’ or referee favoritism (look at the stats on this) – it’s lots of hard work, belief, and purpose. Patrick Mahomes leads with humility and puts God first.”

Hunt has been very vocal about her faith, and mentioned others like Harrison Butker, Drue Tranquill, Chris Jones, Nick Bolton and more doing so as well.

The Chiefs will be heading to New Orleans to face the Philadelphia Eagles once again in the “Big Game,” as this current streak began with a Super Bowl LVII win over them in Arizona two seasons ago.

Bill Belichick jokes Lombardi Trophy should be renamed after Tom Brady

The NFL team that wins the Super Bowl at the end of the season is handed the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Lombardi was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers when he led the team to two straight victories over the American Football League champions – the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders, respectively. It wasn’t until the third NFL-AFL championship game that the term Super Bowl was used.

Lombardi’s Packers were one of the most dominant teams of the era. He had led Green Bay to three other NFL championships before the idea of an NFL vs. AFL was conceived.

Because of the history, the Super Bowl trophy was named after Lombardi. It’s one of the most prestigious trophies in sports, next to Lord Stanley’s Cup and the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

Legendary head coach Bill Belichick discussed the Super Bowl with Jim Gray on the “Let’s Go!” podcast. He told Gray it was the players who really deserve the credit for the Super Bowl victory. The legendary sportscaster reminded Belichick that it was Lombardi who the trophy was named for and not Bart Starr, who was the MVP of the first two games.

“Maybe they should name it the Brady Trophy,” Belichick joked, referencing New England Patriots legend Tom Brady. “He won seven of them.”

Belichick said teams can’t win without good players. He said he learned that when he was a defensive coordinator under Bill Parcells with the New York Giants and when he helped put together a tremendous Hall of Fame defense with the Patriots.

“You can’t win games without good players. I don’t care who the coach is. It’s impossible. You can’t win without good players,” he said. “I found that out when I had (Lawrence) Taylor, (Carl) Banks, Harry Carson, Jim Burt, Everson Walls, all those guys with the Giants.

“Same thing when we got good at Cleveland and at New England it’s (Willie) McGinest, it’s (Mike) Vrabel, it’s (Tedy) Bruschi, it’s Corey Dillon, it’s Randy Moss, Troy Brown, Lawyer Malloy, Ty Law, Rodney Harrison. Those are guys that won the games, man. I didn’t make any tackles. I didn’t make any kicks. That was (Adam) Vinatieri, made that kick in four inches of snow.”

Brady and Belichick won six Super Bowl titles together with the Patriots. The star quarterback then won one more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
