Eli Manning leads singing of ‘God Bless America’ at restaurant during Super Bowl week

Eli Manning didn’t let the Pro Football Hall of Fame snub dampen his spirits during Super Bowl week in New Orleans.

The New York Giants legend was seen at a restaurant in New Orleans leading a rendition of “God Bless America.” Cooper Manning, Eli’s brother, started the song and everybody at the restaurant got involved, according to the New York Post.

The Mannings are from New Orleans and have had a big week aside from the Hall of Fame announcement. Children’s Hospital New Orleans was renamed after the Manning family and they celebrated at the Louisiana Legacy Gala earlier in the week.

Eli and Cooper’s father, Archie, and their mother, Olivia, were given the first Louisiana Legacy Award for their commitment to the well-being of children and their families across the state and the country.

“I can speak on behalf of my entire family. It’s very hard to put into words,” Archie Manning said at the event. “To have a hospital named after you, this is not like making second-team All-SEC or anything like that. We just have such admiration for this hospital and the people and the leadership. For them to do this for our family, it’s one of the greatest things that’s happened in my life.”

Archie said the hospital honor beats all of his football accomplishments.

“I think it was in 2007, we dedicated Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. And, in 2009, I think it was, we dedicated Eli Manning Children’s Clinics in Jackson, Mississippi. After both of those events, I told my sons that this is your finest hour, and I meant that. Football, in Peyton’s case, they’d just won a Super Bowl, and then Eli. I said, ‘What’s going on here is your finest hour.’

Rohit, Gill walk off after floodlight failure, halted; Cuttack crowd lights up phones: ‘Battery will drain’

Cuttack, Feb 9 (PTI) In a major embarrassment for the BCCI, a floodlight failure interrupted play in the second ODI between India and England for about 35 minutes at the Barabati Stadium, here on Sunday.

India were cruising at 48 for no loss in 6.1 overs in a chase of 305 when one of the eight floodlights near the clock tower failed, forcing players out of field.

The issue first surfaced around 6:15pm when some floodlights briefly went off but the power supply was restored as England pacer Saqib Mahmood was about to bowl to Rohit Sharma.

However, moments later, the lights went out completely, leaving the players frustrated.

“The generator attached with the floodlight malfunctioned, so the lights were off on that particular stand behind the clock tower. We got the back-up generator on. It took time to change the connection from one generator to the other, which caused the delay,” the official added.

Trump and Woods have become close over the years. Woods announced the death of his mother earlier in the week.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning,” Woods wrote in a post on X. “My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible. She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie.

“Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you Mom.”

“I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ wonderful Mother, Kultida, passed away – She has gone onto greener fairways!” Trump wrote in a post. “Kultida Woods was an amazing influence on Tiger, and gave him much of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family!”

It’s unclear if Woods will be at the game as well.

Rohit, Gill walk off after floodlight failure, IND vs ENG halted; Cuttack crowd lights up phones: ‘Battery will drain’

Team India’s pursuit of 305 against England in the second ODI was abruptly halted due to a floodlight failure at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium on Sunday. The blackout occurred when the hosts were cruising at 48/0, forcing players off the field.

The first signs of trouble appeared around 6:15 PM when the lights momentarily flickered, but play resumed as Saqib Mahmood prepared to bowl. Soon after the first bowl of the sixth over, one of the eight floodlight towers – positioned near the clock tower – failed completely.

While the visibility wasn’t hampered, the rules dictate that maximum lighting should be necessary. Consequently, the players were forced to leave the field.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, in scintillating form, had raced to 29 off 18 deliveries, hammering three sixes and a four, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 17 from 19 balls.

As officials scrambled to fix the issue, the 45,000-strong crowd took matters into their own hands, turning the stadium into a spectacle with thousands of phone flashlights illuminating the stands. Graeme Swann, the former England spinner who was on-air during the moment, made a rather hilarious remark; “Someone tell them they can’t do this for too long. Their phone batteries are going to drain out.”

According to a report from PTI, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) struggled off-the-field too, as it faced challenges to manage the overwhelming crowd; it led to chaotic scenes at the stadium gates.

Police were forced to resort to lathi charges to control the situation, while unauthorized individuals infiltrated the press box, adding to the disorder.

With Cuttack hosting its first ODI in over four years, the logistical lapses raised serious concerns about the stadium’s preparedness.

    India chasing 305

Earlier on the day, England were bowled out for 304 in 49.5 overs, with Joe Root top-scoring for the side (69). Opener Ben Duckett also contributed with an important 65 for the visitors; for the home team, Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers yet again, registering economical figures of 3/35 in 10 overs.

Varun Chakaravarthy also made his ODI debut in the ongoing game, and picked the first wicket of the match, dismissing a dangerous Phil Salt early. He returned figures of 1/54.

  • Security expert gives insight on what Super Bowl protection, experience may be like with Trump’s attendance

Security expert gives insight on what Super Bowl protection, experience may be like with Trump’s attendance

President Donald Trump is expected to attend the Super Bowl on Sunday, which would mark the first time a sitting president attended the game.

The game is already a spectacle, but with Trump set to make an appearance, this contest will be on a whole other level than in years past.

With Trump’s expected attendance, this is now no ordinary event (it wasn’t one anyway), and those in attendance should expect a rather different experience, said Adam Gonzales, a former military service member who is the CEO of Hyperion Services.

Gonzalez was in charge of a six-man surveillance team while in the military, and then spent 10 years in a private military sector where he used to “call in airstrikes on the Taliban.” He then got into the private security space, “protecting ultra-high net worth individuals, celebrities, and rappers,” then hostage rescue space.

So, safe to say Gonzales is an expert on what it will take to protect Trump at the game – especially considering he was at the Army-Navy game in December with Trump in attendance.

“When President Trump came to that game, his protection detail shut down the stadium for an hour prior to his arrival. They shut down all gates, no one can leave, no one could come in, and then while he was coming in, for another hour, completely shut down. After he got in, another hour completely shut down,” Gonzales told Fox News Digital in a recent interview. “So that really kind of changes the environment quite a bit, at least from the average spectator coming into the gate.

“You’re really going to have to give yourself a lot of time, because the Secret Service will have that place locked down. It’s going to be a fortress for three hours.”

So, his advice? Get in early.

Gonzales has been to Army-Navy games while Trump was in attendance, but he said the protection for the 2024 edition was by far the biggest – likely because of the assassination attempts on his life last year.

“We could expect to see that again here at the Super Bowl, especially with the recent terror attack,” Gonzales noted.

The big game will come roughly six weeks after 14 people were killed on nearby Bourbon Street. However, Gonzales praised New Orleans police and said their quick action sent a message to those who even thought about making an attack at the Super Bowl.

Thus, Caesars Superdome may wind up being maybe the safest place to be on Sunday night.

“The New Orleans PD eliminated him on the spot, which sends a message to any other terrorist in the world who’s thinking ‘I want to disrupt the Super Bowl…’ So that actually kind of helps the security situation for the Super Bowl, because now the city of New Orleans is plussed up in ways that they weren’t for the New Year’s Eve celebration,” Gonzales said.

“So you’ve got local forces, you’ve got state forces, you’ve got all the federal forces, to include the Secret Service, and all the other government agencies that support behind the scenes. The FBI, all the intelligence agencies, everyone’s gathering intel on everything that might be happening underground that no one’s privy to on social media, in the dark web, and identifying these threats and dealing with these threats before they actually become threats. But if they do become threats on that day, you can guarantee that those law enforcement agencies will eliminate that threat super fast.

“Not to mention all the private security details. You’ve got private security details that are going to be there like the one for Taylor Swift and all the other ultra-high net worth individuals who are gonna be in attendance are likely gonna have some sort of small security detail that’s probably gonna be armed as well. So there’s a lot of eyes out, a lot of coverage, a lot of security that will help protect the Super Bowl and all the people in attendance, essentially by virtue of just association with the event.”

  • Travis Kelce undecided about playing in 2025; Super Bowl result could determine future: report

Travis Kelce undecided about playing in 2025; Super Bowl result could determine future: report

Travis Kelce said earlier this week in New Orleans that he sees himself “hopefully still playing football” in three years.

However, a new report says that there’s a chance Super Bowl LIX could be the star tight end’s last.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Super Bowl LIX could possibly be “the final game” of Kelce’s career, and he’s “expected to take time after the Super Bowl, consider his future and make a decision before free agency, which officially begins March 12.”

Rapoport added that Kelce’s future could be riding on the result of Sunday’s game.

With a victory, it would be quite the way to end a future Hall of Fame career: by being a part of a dynasty that would be the first to win three Super Bowls in a row.

Among tight ends in NFL history, Kelce ranks third in catches (1,004) and yards (12,151), and fifth in touchdowns (77). That comes despite 11 tight ends, including those ahead of him in those prior categories, playing more games than him. For reference, Tony Gonzalez, who leads in catches and yards, played in 270 games, 95 more than Kelce.

While Kelce has clearly been able to turn it on in the postseason (he had a season-high 117 yards in the divisional round), it’s clear that he’s not his All-Pro self anymore. This season marked the first time since 2015 in which Kelce played in at least 16 games and failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark. He also scored only three touchdowns in the regular season, the lowest mark of his career outside his one-game rookie season.

If Sunday is it, it’s certainly the end of a legendary career. Kelce has made 10 Pro Bowls and was either a First- or Second-team All-Pro seven times.

Kelce’s off the field superstardom has skyrocketed within the last 18 months due to his relationship with Taylor Swift, but even prior to that, he was beginning to become a household name. He hosted “Saturday Night Live” in March 2023, shortly after winning his second Super Bowl. A win on Sunday would give Kelce four rings.

  • Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill doubles down on ‘love’ for Miami, despite ‘frustration’ with regular season results

Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill doubles down on ‘love’ for Miami, despite ‘frustration’ with regular season results

Tyreek Hill appears to be interested in sticking with the Miami Dolphins for the foreseeable future.

On Friday, the star wide receiver expressed his “love” for Miami. “I don’t want to go nowhere. I love [Miami], my family loves it,” Hill said during an appearance on “Up & Adams.”

Hill’s latest comments come just weeks after he said he was “out” of Miami following the Dolphins’ season-ending loss to the New York Jets.

“I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I’ve got to do what’s best for my career. … I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there,” Hill said in January. Hill later admitted he made those remarks during a moment of irritation.

“What y’all had heard at the end of the season was frustration,” Hill told ESPN last month.

HOW TO WATCH SUPER BOWL LIX BETWEEN CHIEFS, EAGLES STREAMED ON TUBI

Hill cited the “special” nature of what the Dolphins were working to create as he further explained his hopes of remaining in Miami.

“It’s an amazing thing, man. We are really building something special in Miami. We made it to the playoffs the first two years. Obviously, this year was hard. If guys continue to buy in, to what coach is building and the culture that he’s trying to build, it’s going to be an amazing thing.”

Hill’s frustrations appeared to reach a tipping point when he pulled himself out of the second half of Miami’s aforementioned loss to the Jets on Jan. 5 when it became clear Miami would not clinch a playoff berth.

The five-time All-Pro selection expressed regret about his postgame comments.

“I could have handled the situation better,” Hill said. “Instead of saying I’m out, I could have obviously handled it better. And I wish I did. But in the heat of the moment, I just said whatever I had to say. And I’m taking full accountability of that.”

After leading the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards last season, Hill finished this season with just 959 on 81 catches. It was the first time he didn’t have 1,000 yards receiving since he had 860 with the Kansas City Chiefs in an injury-filled 2019 season. Injuries to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa contributed to Hill’s lack of production. Tagovailoa missed six games in 2024, including the Week 18 loss.

Hill said he has since spoken to Dolphins veterans such as left tackle Terron Armstead, cornerback Jalen Ramsey and running back Raheem Mostert, and offered a public apology Friday to his teammates and Tagovailoa.

“Tua, he’s my guy — always will be, no matter what,” Hill said. “I’m sure he understands my frustration, we all want to win … this is my public apology to you, Tua. I love you bro.”

He also spoke with McDaniel, who in his end-of-season press conference described the conversation as necessary to “clear the air in a rough and tumultuous situation.”

Falcons running backs discuss sharing time in backfield, praise Kirk Cousins for how he handled benching

It may not be uncommon for two teammates who play the same position to secretly root against one another. But that’s not what’s happening with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.

Allgeier ran for over 1,000 yards in his rookie season in 2022, but just a few months after his first campaign wrapped up, the Atlanta Falcons selected Robinson with the eighth overall selection in the NFL Draft.

With Robinson being a star in Texas, the writing was on the wall for Allgeier to complement Robinson.

But that was fine with him. Off the field, they are “the bestest of friends,” Robinson said.

“I feel like a work environment that’s cool, but having that off the field as well, it just brings us even closer. So, that work environment is easy. It’s not forced. I think having those relationships that aren’t forced is just so natural and awesome to have. To be Bijan’s boy, it’s just awesome to have a best friend on the team,” Allgeier said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital with Robinson by his side.

“Off the field, we became the bestest of friends,” Robinson added. “This is my brother. I can rely on him for everything and anything. That we’re here in the Super Bowl doing something together, that’s all you can ask for.”

Naturally, they partnered with Bounty to be each other’s wingman ahead of the Super Bowl.

“You can’t have football without wings, and you can’t have wings without Bounty. That’s the main thing. But having my wingman right here? Can’t get any better,” said Allgeier.

“I think our relationship is like Bounty and wings. It’s literally the same thing. You can’t have one without the other,” Robinson added. “For me, this is one of the best running backs in the league. There’s no backup in his title at all.

“For me to share the field with him, and for when I get tired, he goes in, when he gets tired, I’ll go in. We’re just trying to play off each other and just have fun with it. We have a coach that allows us to maximize our abilities.”

Much like the running backs, it was similar when the Falcons, just a months after signing Kirk Cousins, drafted Michael Penix with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Penix eventually took Cousins’ job, but there was nothing awkward between the two at all, the backs said.

“It was just good to see Kirk deal with that the right way. He never wavered, he never got mad or got disappointed,’” said Robinson. “He got right to work. He got right to helping Mike become who he wants to become. Even with Mike, he was so selfless and wanted to learn and get connections with all of us as players on the offense.

“I was never a love/hate, or hate, relationship at all. It was just support, and when you got a guy who can learn under a vet for a whole season really, then he comes in way more comfortable and way more prepared than just him having to start off right away being a rookie quarterback. They played off each other well, and we just love having both of them.”

Added Allgeier, “Being there the same time as Kirk, and especially having Kirk as the role model, I think he set the standard of what a vet and a great quarterback is to be in this league. Him being able to be under his wing and just chip away at it. It was dope to have. So, I think he was already preparing to be a starter. So, it was just a matter of timing and just his plan.”

Mavericks coach Jason Kidd says he was unaware of shocking Luka Dončić trade until ‘eleventh hour’

Luka Dončić, a five-time All-NBA first-teamer who is only 25 years old, was traded last week for Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis in a deal that caught everyone in the league by surprise.

Dallas fans were especially upset, with many seemingly agreeing that Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison gave up too much and received too little.

Maverick head coach Jason Kidd recently addressed the angst.

“Our sympathy goes to the fans,” Kidd said after the Mavs’ win over the Boston Celtics Feb. 6.

“No one’s going to feel bad for us. Trades happen in this game. Things change, coaches change, teams get sold. A lot of things happen that are out of our control, but you’ve got to continue to just do your job, and that’s what I’m doing. I’m the coach. I’m not the decision-maker. Each year, millions place bets on the Super Bowl, and sometimes bettors take things too far.

Thirty-nine states — Missouri just approved it to become the 40th — and the District of Columbia allow wagers to be placed legally.

Carton, who is also the co-host of Fox Sports’ “Breakfast Ball,” has been open about his gambling addiction. He says it’s been seven years since he’s gambled, and his work with FanDuel, in its fifth year, has a message that has helped many.

“I get people reaching out to me all the time now after hearing my story and hearing about the partnership I have with FanDuel asking how we can help,” he told Fox News Digital on Radio Row ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl in New Orleans.

“Because there’s a small percentage of people that are going to need help that can’t unfortunately gamble responsibly and recreationally. I think we’re starting to see the fruits of the labor after the last four years where people are now aware. Like, ‘Hey, this is what it looks like, this is how it feels. These are the warning signs if someone in my life is gambling uncontrollably.’

“I’m blessed that we’re together year five now, me and FanDuel, and to see that the messaging is working, people are signing up for the tools FanDuel has to offer, and it’s been very rewarding.”

Carton says this partnership doesn’t just help people who may be struggling with controlled gambling, it also helps him when he’s hearing stories from people being open.

“For a lot of people, (Gamblers Anonymous) is the only answer,” he said. “I went to GA, and it’s great for a majority of people. For me, getting to talk to new people I have not talked to for years about problem gambling and how to overcome it is absolutely therapeutic.

“When I do ‘The Comeback,’ a new show we’re premiering on FanDuel, or ‘Hello, My Name is Craig’ on Audacy and WFAN in New York City, that’s my GA. You’re getting to hear other people’s stories, share my story.

“It’s a good reminder for me, even though I’m almost seven years without gambling, so that will be smart. Hearing other people’s story of recovery, the worst moment of lives they’re willing to verbalize, is selfishly very healthy for me to hear.”

Carton preaches responsible gaming because of how it has become so normalized throughout the country. And that means the next generation will be growing up in that world.

“That’s the biggest target group of people we worry about because 21-year-old kids are kids,” he said. “They’re still immature and don’t really get the full value of a dollar. So, you want to make sure those kids have enough information as possible, especially when you have certain states … I was just talking to a radio show in North Carolina today.

“Huge college basketball, college football state. So, if you’re a college kid, it makes sense. ‘Oh, I’m going to wager on North Carolina, Duke, N.C. State,’ whatever it may be. Those are the kids that are now legally allowed to do it that we’re worried most about.

“My kids, the next generation of gamblers, or just people that like sports, talking about gambling is now going to be a dinner table conversation.”

Carton isn’t saying the dinner table conversation is a bad thing. He feels, because sports gambling is normalized, that talking to friends and family about your problem, or speaking to somebody you love who is showing signs of problem gambling, won’t be stigmatized.

“A good part of that is, if it’s normalized, if it’s mainstreamed, now it’s a lot easier to ask for help. Because when I went through it, it wasn’t. There was a great deal of shame associated with being an addict,” he said. “Nobody wants to admit they’re an addict. Your ego kicks in, ‘Screw you, I’m fine!’

“If you have a friend that you’re worried about, talk to them. That’s No. 1. You’re the first line of defense. Before family, it’s friends that will know their buddies are not themselves. They’re not acting normally. If you are gambling, it’s hard to win.

“So, do it, do it responsibly, earmark a responsible amount of money towards it like you would to go to the movies or a Broadway show. If you win, great. Put some of that money away. If you lose, don’t think the answer is, ‘Well, let me bet myself out of it.’ That’s when you start getting into trouble.”
