Suns’ Kevin Durant becomes 8th player in NBA history to score 30,000 points in loss to the Grizzlies

Kevin Durant continues to etch his name into NBA history books.

Durant, 36, became the eighth player in NBA history to score 30,000 points when he hit a free throw late in the third quarter in the Phoenix Suns’ 119-122 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Durant joins LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki and Wilt Chamberlain in the 30,000-point club.

Julius Erving also surpasses the 30,000-point mark when you combine his points scored in the NBA and ABA.

“It’s a true honor to be in the same category as those players who helped shape the game and pushed the game forward,” Durant said. “That’s always been my goal is to get the most out of myself every day, get the most out of my career. To be mentioned with those guys, I must be doing something right.”

The 14-time All-Star is averaging just over 27 points per game this season, shooting a fantastic 52.8% from the field and 40.4% from beyond the arc.

Durant, listed at 6-foot-11, has carved up defenses his entire 17-year career with supreme shooting ability while also dominating in the paint.

The four-time scoring champion was drafted by the Seattle Supersonics with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft and has lived up to the hype.

In nine seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder franchise, he scored 17,566 points. In three seasons with the Golden State Warriors, he scored 5,374 points.

During three seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, he scored 3,744 points, and with the Suns he has scored 3,324 points over three seasons in Phoenix.

Durant won the MVP in 2013-2014 when he led the league in scoring, averaging 32 points per game.

“It’s special for everyone who’s around him every day,” Suns coach Mike Budenholzer said. “I think we’re amazed by him, the way he comes to work, the time he puts in, the attention to detail, the effort. It’s translated to 30,000 points. He’s just a special player and a special human being.”

Durant scored 34 points on 12-18 shooting in the Suns’ loss.

The Suns are 11th in the Western Conference at 26-27 and will look to turn things around when they play the Houston Rockets at 8:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

Saquon Barkley doesn’t understand Taylor Swift ‘hate’ at Super Bowl, says ‘she’s made the game bigger’

Taylor Swift heard the boos from fans at Super Bowl LIX but Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley admitted he couldn’t understand why.

Barkley helped the Eagles to a Super Bowl title as Philadelphia defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, with Swift in attendance rooting for Travis Kelce and the guys in red and white.

He appeared on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” on Tuesday and was asked about the prospects of Kelce marrying Swift.

“I have no idea. I will say this though,” he told Stern, “You know, I remember that they showed her on the jumbotron and she got booed. I don’t get it. I don’t get why she was getting hate there.

“She’s there supporting her significant other and she’s made the game bigger. You know, we’re all about, in football, we’re all about, you know, how can we expand the game and make it more, you know, internationally and we’re traveling to Brazil and we’re traveling to Mexico, and you know, apparently we’re traveling to Australia soon, so we’re trying to expand the game and, you know, her being a part of it’s only helping that, so I don’t get the slack that she’s getting.”

Barkley didn’t have the breakout game he had been used to during the season, but still made NFL history.

He set the record for most rushing yards in a single season when counting regular-season and postseason stats. He had 57 yards in the win with 2,504 total rushing yards, beating the mark set in the 1998 season by Denver Broncos legend Terrell Davis.

Luka Doncic trade to Lakers couldn’t be vetoed, NBA commish says

The Dallas Mavericks trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers was so stunning, that fans have been asking NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to veto the trade.

Silver, 62, explained that he does not have the power to veto any trade during a recent appearance on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take.”

“The answer is no, believe it or not. There’s some confusion people have yelled out to me for some reason in the last week or so when I’ve been at games that I should be vetoing that trade the way David Stern vetoed a trade back in the old days and there’s always some confusion there,” Silver said.

Late NBA Commissioner David Stern vetoed a blockbuster three-way trade following the 2011 lockout.

The Lakers would have acquired 26-year-old superstar point guard Chris Paul to team up with Kobe Bryant from the then-New Orleans Hornets. The Lakers would have shipped out Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol. The NBA owned the Hornets at the time, and the general manager, Dell Demps, did not get Sterns’ approval for the trade.

Once Stern found out, he vetoed the trade, but he was only able to veto that blockbuster because the league owned the team, not because he was a commissioner.

Silver said regardless of the merits of the trade, he cannot veto a deal that he does not like.

“I mean the way we don’t put a thumb on the scale, so to speak, when a trade comes into the league office, what our basketball and legal folks do is they make sure that that trade works under the confines of the collective bargaining agreement, whatever rules are in place,” he said. “Then it’s up or down, it gets approved or not based on those rules. We don’t get to weigh in on what we think the merits of the trade are or should be.”

When asked if he at least thought it was cool that Doncic would be in a big market now in Los Angeles, Silver pointed out that Dallas is a large media market.

“Frankly, Dallas is a big market, and was I surprised that he was traded from that standpoint? Yeah, I’m a fan and the teams don’t necessarily give the league inside information on those kinds of things, so that trade wasn’t one that I saw coming. By the way, I love Luka. I’ve known him since the day he came into the league. He’s obviously a great player, he’s a great young man and teams make these trades for reasons that in some cases only they know,” Silver said.

Silver added he wanted both the Lakers and Mavericks to be successful following the seismic trade.

“The one thing I’ll say is having been with this league for a long time, like truly nothing is written. People who say they can predict the future generally can’t and we’ll see. I’m sort of rooting for Dallas, and I’m rooting for the Lakers. I’m rooting for Anthony Davis to recover quickly and be the All-Star, we know he can be and stay healthy for a long time and I’m definitely rooting for Luka to demonstrate to the world what a great player he is in LA.”

Davis suffered a groin injury in the Mavericks’ win over the Houston Rockets on Saturday and is expected to miss multiple weeks, per ESPN.

Doncic made his Lakers debut on Monday and scored 14 points in 24 minutes in the Lakers win. It was his first game back from injury since hurting his calf on Christmas.

Ricky Starks makes stunning WWE NXT appearance after release from rival company

The WWE Universe was left stunned on Tuesday as NXT wrapped up its latest episode as pro wrestling superstar Ricky Starks showed up to the building to address the crowd.

Starks was released from All Elite Wrestling on Monday following a months-long absence. He hadn’t been seen on AEW television since March 30, 2024, when he and Big Bill lost a tag-team match to Dante and Darius Martin.

He made an appearance at a Game Changer Wrestling show at the American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and then appearances at House of Glory last month. He won the DEFY World Championship last week against defending champion KENTA.

Then, he was released. WWE didn’t appear to waste any time for him to show up.

“Holy crap!” NXT broadcaster Vic Joseph said as Starks appeared in the crowd.

Fans in attendance cheered Starks’ name as he addressed them.

“It’s obvious you know who I am,” he said. “If NXT is the future of professional wrestling, well guess what? You need an absolute superstar of the future. If this is the hottest brand, well you need the hottest free agent right now, baby.”

Starks’ appearance in NXT is the latest example of a pro wrestler making a stunning jump to a rival company.

Ethan Page performed at AEW up until the summer of 2023, and then he was at Ring of Honor before he joined WWE last year. Shawn Spears was with AEW from its launch in 2019 before he rejoined WWE in February 2024 and started to perform in NXT.

On the flip side, former WWE stars Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP were among those to recently appear in AEW after their departure from the Connecticut-based company.

Washington man faces assault charges after allegedly attacking teen referees during son’s hockey game

A man from Washington state is facing assault charges after he was accused of shoving two teenage referees during his son’s hockey game, which was captured on video by security cameras.

Uriel Isaac Cortes Gonzalez, 42, is facing two counts of misdemeanor assault after police say he attacked two referees, both under the age of 15, in an “unprovoked” incident during a youth hockey game Sunday.

According to court records, officials with the Seattle Police Department received reports of an “irate parent” assaulting two teenage refs at the Kraken Community Iceplex Sunday just before noon.

The caller told a dispatcher the man had left before the game ended, but he was later located by police at a traffic light near the complex.

Gonzalez told police he witnessed his son being assaulted by another player from the opposing team during the game, according to arrest records. He alleged his son was “punched and kicked for about thirty seconds, and the referees did nothing to stop the assault.”

He claimed he walked to the ice to break up the fight and that he shoved one referee to get to his son. He also claimed he was unaware the game officials were minors.

Police reviewed the incident, which was captured by the complex’s security cameras, and found that Gonzalez’s version of the incident was not supported by video evidence.

According to the arrest report, there was no fight going on at the time of the alleged assault. The referees, 13 and 14, told police they had already broken up a fight and had gone over to the box were officials were sitting to document it. At that time, video footage shows Gonzalez approaching them both from behind and shoveing them to the ground.

“There was no fight at the time, and the game was stopped,” police records stated, adding “the assault appeared to be unprovoked.”

The two victims did not appear to have serious injuries and were treated on site. Police arrested Gonzalez, and he was charged Tuesday with two counts of misdemeanor assault.

The Kraken released a statement in response to the incident saying Gonzalez has been banned from the rink.

“The Seattle Kraken and Kraken Community Iceplex strive to foster an environment of just that — community — where everyone can share their love of hockey. The Kraken code posted on the walls at KCI reminds us of that, and our values, every day. There is absolutely no place in hockey, or any sport, for the behavior that occurred on Sunday.

“The Pacific Northwest Amateur Hockey Association and USA Hockey are leading an investigation with the authorities, and we have been assisting them since the incident occurred. The person in question has been banned from our facility.”

Trans athlete Sadie Schreiner not competing for RIT women’s track team after Trump’s executive order

Transgender track and field runner Sadie Schreiner is not competing in future events for Rochester Institute of Technology’s (RIT) women’s track and field team amid the NCAA changing its gender eligibility policy.

An RIT spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the program is complying with the NCAA’s new policy that reflects President Donald Trump’s recent executive order that bans trans athletes from women’s sports.

“We continue to follow the NCAA participation policy for transgender student-athletes following the Trump administration’s executive order. Sadie is not participating in the next meet,” the spokesperson said.

The NCAA officially changed its gender eligibility policies to ban all biological males from women’s sports on Feb. 6, one day after Trump signed the order.

“A student-athlete assigned male at birth may not compete on a women’s team,” the new policy reads.

However, the policy also states that a biological male can still practice on a women’s team and “receive benefits.”

“A student-athlete assigned male at birth may practice on an NCAA women’s team and receive all other benefits applicable to student-athletes,” the policy reads.

RIT has not confirmed to Fox News Digital whether Schreiner has been removed from the roster and is no longer practicing with the team. Schreiner still has a player profile page on the team’s official website.

Schreiner has been a controversial figure in women’s track and field this year after an appearance at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship in May.

There, Schreiner finished last in the 400 meter, but still occupied a spot in the competition that could have gone to a biological female.

Earlier that month, Schreiner competed at the Liberty League Championship, and won both the women’s 200- and 400-meter, breaking the 400-meter record in the process. Schreiner would have finished last by more than two seconds if the athlete put up the same performance in the men’s competition.

Recently, in late January, Schreiner bragged after winning an event against female opponents.

“Not the race I was looking for at all this week, my spikes nearly fell off on the turn and with a poor start my time wasn’t nearly what I wanted,” the RIT runner wrote in an Instagram post.

“The good news is that the season just started, and I’m going to leave everything on the track at nationals,” Schreiner added with a transgender pride flag emoji.

Schreiner also made it a point to speak out against states and colleges that were not offering the trans athlete a full scholarship when Schreiner wanted to transfer, in December. The athlete blamed laws in 25 states that prohibit trans athletes from competing with girls and women.

“Among all the hurdles transfers usually have, there is an extra layer because it is trans, 50% of the country banned me from participating and that meant I couldn’t attend any of those colleges even if they reached out to me with a full ride,” Schreiner said.

“It also became clear that states that did, no matter how adamant the coaches were to have me on their teams, the college administrations would usually stop them from allowing me to participate.”

Now, Schreiner likely won’t be able to compete on any women’s college teams throughout the country with the NCAA’s new policy in place.

However, Schreiner would be able to compete on a men’s team, per the new policy.

“Regardless of sex assigned at birth or gender identity, a student-athlete may participate (practice and competition) in NCAA men’s sports, assuming they meet all other NCAA eligibility requirements,” the new policy reads.

College football offensive lineman Ben Christman, 21, found dead in his apartment, school says

Ben Christman, a college football offensive lineman who transferred to UNLV, was found dead in his off-campus apartment, the school said in a statement on Wednesday. He was 21.

Christman recently transferred to the university after previously playing for Kentucky and Ohio State. The school said it didn’t have any more details on his death, and the Clark County Coroner’s Office in Nevada was working to determine the cause.

Christman was at Ohio State for two seasons before he transferred to Kentucky. He sat out the 2023 season with a knee injury and played special teams in 2024, according to CBS Sports.

Jalen Hurts dispels ‘tush push’ term, Saquon Barkley discusses role in Eagles’ famed short-yardage play

The Eagles are taking a victory lap. Philadelphia steamrolled the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX this past Sunday, winning the franchise’s second Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Two of the team’s stars, quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley, stopped by “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday to reflect on the big game. “I’ve just been telling people I was trying to process it, and I think when you go into that, you don’t know how you’re going to feel,” Hurts said.

“You watch, as a fan, sports and championship games and these iconic moments. The Eagles opened the scoring in Super Bowl LIX when Hurts found the end zone via the infamous “tush push.” Over the past couple of seasons, the Eagles have mastered the rugby-style quarterback sneak that has become known as the “tush push” or the “brotherly shove.”

But Hurts suggested that neither name is actually accurate. “I’m not gonna say what I call it, but it’s not that. Everybody came up with their own name for it: the ‘Brotherly Shove,’ the ‘tush push,’ all these different things. It’s not that,” Hurts said.

On short-yardage plays, Hurts typically lines up under center with two or three players behind him. He takes the snap, the offensive line surges forward and Hurts gets a big push from behind. More often than not, the Eagles gain the yardage needed for a first down.

Barkley, who signed a three-year deal with the Eagles last March, admitted that he was surprised to learn the play was not referred to as the “tush push.”

“I didn’t know if that was what it would be called, but… it’s not called a ‘tush push,’ actually,” Barkley said. When it comes to his role in the “tush push,” Barkley said.

“I think I have the easiest job, to be honest. I’m the one who pushes the tush…”

Hurts finished the Super Bowl with 221 passing yards and two touchdowns. While Barkley was mostly contained during the game, finishing with 57 rushing yards, he was a key part of the Eagles’ success this past season.

The three-time Pro Bowler rushed for a career-high 2,005 yards during the regular season. He added 499 rushing yards in the Eagles’ four playoff games.

The tennis legend, who retired from the sport in 2022, posted a video on Instagram showing the behind-scenes leading up to her cameo.

In the post, she shared a brief explanation why she accepted Lamar’s invitation.

“When @kendricklamar and team called and was like ‘we’ve been trying to do something forever, what about this? We loved your crip walk at the Olympics after you won the gold medal.’ I’m like Super Bowl? Are you serious?

“When in the world would I ever be able to dance at a superbowl? (Never) let’s do it!”

Williams’ added that she knew her “winning dance” at the 2012 Olympic Games in London “would pay off one day.”

Williams’ explanation comes after she faced criticism for her choice of dance and for performing alongside the rival of rapper Drake, with whom Williams was previously involved in a relationship.

ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith was among those who criticized Williams, saying he would divorce his wife if she was “trolling her ex.”

But Williams’ husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, defended Williams

“Some of y’all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows…. This is bigger than the music,” he said in a post on X.
